The University actually had a live bison run in Memorial Stadium to practice for game day. That buffalo got loose. And took hours to corral. And having a live Bison as mascot was scrapped. Now.... on the other hand. The University of Colorado has had a buffalo.... trained... to run on the field before every home game. And over time would get retired as they slowed down. However... Raphie V ( always a female, despite the name)... got retired.... because she loved it so much... that she sped up, and her handlers had problems keeping her under control.
