I think IU will win but coming off an emotional win last week, add to the fact that we are ranked and getting national attention from the media this has the ingredients for a let down.  If told me we would win comfortably I would believe it.  If you told me it's going down to the wire I'd also believe it.  I'm convinced that CTA will have them ready to go on Saturday.

I guess one thing we haven't mentioned is... Rutgers was coming off a pretty big time win, as well. @ Mich St, their first B1G since like 2017 or something. Maybe that works to our advantage.

Rutgers fan here,

watched some of your game against Penn State and congrats on the huge win.  I hate Penn state with a passion so any loss for them excites Rutgers fans.

A little bit about our game vs Michigan State.  Obviously the turnovers played a huge role in the game, but Schiano preaches and practices forcing turnovers and if you look at him in the first go around with Rutgers, you will notice that his D is aggressive and forces a lot of turnovers, so its not an accident.  Our Dline was a weakness under Ash, is now a strength as Schiano has added transfers and already coached up the guys we had in place.  We also have a redshirt frosh who is a freak outside linebacker edge rusher who wreaked havoc with a couple of strip sacks and fumbles off of edge rushing.  Our linebacks are experienced and our secondary is solid, but not deep.  We also have an Ohio State transfer who started some for them at the Safety position that is kind of the qb of the secondary.  Our d was expected to be good and solid and with Greg, now it's confident and aggressive.  Our run D was great vs. MSU as they rushed for 50 yards I think, our pass d gave up some plays but didn't let up any big plays which I think is the goal with Greg.

Our offense has been pathetic for years and now it at least looks functional.  We are still lacking big time playmakers at the wide out position but we do have speed with a transfer from Wisconsin and Melton who returns for us.  Our running backs Pacheco (very good player and an NFL players) and Young are good but will only be as successful as the line is .  Our line is not great and lacks depth but they did perform well on Saturday, specifically pass blocking.  However they are definetly the weakest unit on our team and what will hold down the offense most likely moving forward. The qb is more of a game manager, but can run and gets the ball out quickly and makes good decisions.  He does have a weak arm which may hold down any vertical passing game we want to have.  Gleeson the new OC comes from Ok State where their RB led the country in rushing last year.  He is young and creative, but is limited with the lack of a line, but is night and day better than what we've had.

Looking forward to a good game on Saturday and while I think you'll win, I think it will most likely be a close game if our offense can move the ball a little and if we can limit your qb's rushing yards. Hears to a good game.

Appreciate the visit and the post.  Keep coming, after the game, regardless of who wins. I love it when fans of other schools, especially the B1G come to visit in an informational and civil way.

Rutgers..... the first to school to play a collegiate FB game in this great country of ours.   Stay safe during this pandemic.

Two weeks of sensible posts by opposing fan bases. Nice.

Great post man. I'm sure you are, as we are as well, very excited about the future of your football program.

Exactly. Penn St carries more weight but it's not like Rutgers cruising into East Lansing and depantsing Sparty was a small feat. I think we'll win but Schiano is a coach I like. Instant credibility and can make Rutgers competitive very quickly.

I know I might end up looking stupid on Saturday, but I just think we match up really well against Rutgers.  Our run defense was solid outside of Clifford scrambling.  The rest of the team (taking out the TD we let them have) had 117 yards on 34 rushes for an average of 3.4 yards.  Where we can get in trouble on defense is against a solid OL who can open up some holes and give the QB a lot of time for receivers to get open.  We're athletic enough and our DB's are good enough that it is tough for individual receivers to beat us without having a lot of time to get open.  Vedral can run a little, but I don't think he's anywhere near the scrambler Clifford is.  I would not be surprised to see us blitz a lot to put pressure on their line and make Vedral make quick, rushed decisions.  It seemed like we blitzed quite a bit Saturday, but no idea what the numbers were on that.

On offense for us, Penix has done a good job of protecting the ball during his career, and the only fumbles we had were on a targeting, and a call that was an obvious targeting but was missed.  I'm glad that Rutgers forced so many turnovers against MSU.  I am sure that will be talked about all week during our practices.  Also, we'll need to do a good job of keeping their DL from getting to Penix.  Jones getting burnt late in the game is still on my mind.

Also, if Ellis is back we should have one of the better special teams around...as long as we don't do stupid stuff!  Elis on kickoffs, Taylor on punts, Whitehead punting, and Campbell kicking.  I also don't remember anyone ever talk about a bad snap since we signed Wracher, so that must mean he's been doing a great job.

Like I said, I respect Schiano and I have no doubt Rutgers will be back soon, but I just like this matchup for us.  Really hoping I don't end up looking dumb(well, dumber than usual)!

Line is back to 11.5/12 after dipping to 10.

It's basically the same line they had against MSU. I know people are excited about their win last week(and rightfully so), but we're a way better team than MSU. Tucker is terrible and will probably be run out of town within a few years. I think people are putting too much stock in the Rutgers win last week.

Crimson Cast had a good point: IF, and I mean IF, Hoosiers happen to come out and control the game they might keep a lot of playbook in their pocket for next week... I’ll try to remember that if playcalling seems lacking.
I thought the OC called a good game last week and the just execution fell short until the heroics. Guys we’re open ( and yes I also hated the predictable 1st down runs and the back to back sacks without help for LT).

Excited for 3:30!

I just found myself with 3 1/12 extra hours today because I thought IU was at noon. Regarding game. I'm really curious to see how our team comes out after a program changing win. Come out fast and excited to play football or come out a little slow thinking we got this one. I actually think we come out fast.

Don't think that because you won one game everyone, especially in this part of the country, looks at you in the same light as the big dogs. They still don't respect us. They don't.

I saw a graphic last night.. the "big games" for the B1G... none of our games were listed. Wisconsin @ Iowa was listed and Iowa isn't even ranked. I was p*****.

Keep the chip on your shoulder, us vs. the world.
