IU's defense looks comparable to Alabama's from looking at total defense, scoring defense, and turnovers gained. IU is better at creating turnovers as they had only 1 less turnover in 4 fewer games than Bama. IU is probably #1 in turnovers gained per game.

What really works in IU's favor is turnovers, in particular interceptions. IU is 10th overall in turnovers generated with 20 (2.9/game, #1 in NCAA) and 17 (2.4/game) of those are from interceptions. Ole Miss is 113th in turnovers lost with 18 (2/game) and 14 (1.6/game, #123 in NCAA) of those are interceptions.

Ole Miss is #127 in total defense and #122 in scoring defense. So good offense (but turnover probe), terrible defense.

I have not watched Ole Miss but those interception numbers sound like their QB doesn't read defenses well and/or makes bad decisions. Or is maybe very inaccurate. IU disguises defenses well and takes advantage of bad throws. Their weakness plays in to our strength.
