Archie making a good point...with no fans opponents can hear all your calls and that can explain how they are jumping the plays..like that last one in OT.

That goes both ways, so still en even playing field. So it comes down to who did better scouting and who makes better adjustments.

Not much to say.  I guess Rob Hummel and I disagree about what is a contested 3-point shot. It seemed to me we often appeared to be one-step too far away on the shooters, especially with the shot clock winding down. Seemed like every offensive rebound or loose ball turned into a 3-point dagger.

A lot of end the game situations are terrible in basketball today.  You don't see many plays run but you just put the ball in one guys hand and it usually leafs to a bad shot.  The other night the Pacers was up 1 and Tatum for the Celtics end up taking a step back 3 and missed.

Archie did a great job getting to the middle of the floor and getting down hill at least. Trayce got to the rim but should have dropped it off. That said yes...I just hate holding the ball and waiting late in shot clock. It just means the defense only has to defend for a few seconds and can over commit..leaves no time to get a second action involved...but that is just me. When you are going to leave them 10 seconds regardless why hold it...just run your stuff and give yourself more time for a second look or a second action off your play if they sell out.

Yes..and that I think is why Rob was out there and he did so good at the end defending what they were doing. But overall it’s important to know why sets sometimes don’t work the same...maybe we need to change up the names...Peyton would change the offensive calls week to week even half to half with the Colts.

Old days before every kid became a 3pt specialist it would have been great D...nowadays if you can’t smell what they had for dinner out there you aren’t close enough.

Not always.  If they had Taco Bell, you could still smell while trailing behind them.  :coffee:

I'm honestly encouraged, but I do think a loss would have been potentially devastating for the season.

We had guys step up that we needed to step up. Defensively we made a few more miscues than normal, but a lot of it was PSU hitting shots which can happen against a packline.

Franklin I'm starting to feel is dependable for 15-20 almost every night, even if he isn't hitting a pot of threes. Al and Rob stepped up big time. Galloway is just a playmaker. Trayce bounced back. We need Hunter and one of the other three freshman to get going, but if that happens we can be a dangerous team.

It’s great to feel that Armaan didn’t play up to the standard that he has set this year and still had 16 points. I felt like he could have easily had more. If he continues to improve we will have two legitimate all Big Ten caliber offensive threats.

Armaan and TJD both didn’t play well if you ask me, but still had good lines. And both Al and Rob played way better but missed some wide open shots. Just have to keep working. This team has something. They seem to be a real team. Everyone needs to get behind them as much as you can, I think they’re getting closer to putting it all together.

I don't think we can ignore what it says about the team to lead for the first 39 minutes, give up the lead, then still find a way to win.

Maybe we shouldn't have given up the lead, maybe we should have won by 10, but I'm not sure that last year we'd have recovered from blowing the lead to still get a win.

Too close for comfort.  We got some calls to go our way.  We could have lost at the end of regulation. But we will take it.

Rob and Al were productive.  Maybe it will give them a shot in the arm to keep it up.  It supports the notion that Archie’s offense can come to life if he has veteran guards who do their part.

I had been going on and on about how we are developing an identity on defense.  For much of that Illinois game, our defense was stout.  Then today happened.  It looked like a different team in terms of defense and not in a good way.

Kev you could find a negative outlook about a free stripper in your bed, my friend.

This is the real reason why they keep HF confined in the server room!

Did anyone actually think it was because people appreciate how he works to provide us with a functioning and user friendly site?  ;)

Huge, huge win.....for this team. Enjoy it they will be few and far between.

Indeed. This is a big win since there are not many teams we can beat. I would gladly take it even if it was a 1-point win, but boy...I never imagined we would be in this spot in Archie's year 4. Realistically, at this point, I expect our team to be at 10th in BIG and would miss the tournament. In worse case, we'd be at 12th in BIG, and TJD declares for the draft at the end of the season. Winning tonight gives me a little bit of relief, but these days I get depressed when thinking about IU men's basketball. Hopefully our football team wins the Outback.

I think the calls we got were a bit overstated. TJD probably didn't get fouled, but we also got the loose ball and had the defense out of position.

Rob 100% didn't foul on the last shot and Hummel just sounded like an idiot.

A win is a win, but what an awful final possession out of a time out. I cannot believe thats what Archie draws up and what was executed. Despite a jumbled mess of a sequence, Armaan finds himself wide open yet RP shoots a ridiculous shot. But he made it and we won, so the draw up won't be criticized nearly as much. It was absolutely deflating to see something that poorly executed when coaching matters most.

That said, there were positives to take away. If this Rob shows up every night the backcourt takes on a different dynamic. And Trey is just a joy to watch. Every possession he brings the ball up we end up doing some really effective movement. Plus he hustles. Can't wait to see where he goes from here.

Sarcasm, I hope?

i am happy to just get the win, but seriously... a home win in OT by 2 with a couple calls that went our way against one of the 3 worst teams in the conference... how many do we really think we will win from here?  this game definitely didn't give me any confidence.  again, not even saying we are all that bad.  just saying almost everyone else is better than PSU.
