Annoying Aging and Health Issues

Got my CT scan results today. Basically my Lumbar region is wrecked.  3 bulging disc's, what they call a vacuum disc, born spurs, facet hypertrophy, compression fractures, etc.

But a chiropractor who I went to high school with and who was recruited to work for the New England Patriots, and works with my wife got me scheduled with a top notch specialist in Bloomington 2pm Thursday.  Have an awesome manager, coworkers who actually care, and a healthy insurance plan.

So at least I've got a good team behind me.

This is not my scan but one of my problems. I haven't seen mine yet.  Probably what slipped and set this off.

Oh man.  Sucks to hear this.  Pray you get relief and fixed up right.

Sorry if I'm annoying yall with this but did get some good news today. Saw the specialist and right now, pain management, and chiropractic care, lose a bit of fat I've accumulated, and cleared to workout.  I check back in 6 months. Next step would be steroid injections then surgery.

Here is the xray I had today. So my L5 is completely fractured and in 2 peices. The fact I no longer have a disc is beneficial because it prevents excess movement.  The other stuff I will deal with years from now.

Think the Teeter inversion table would help?

I have had good results with my inversion table. Haven't needed to use it in over a year now. Highly recommend for older people with back issues. Bought mine on Amazon for much less than the Teeter brand.

Me too.  I want to say mine is an Iron Man or something like that and is great for relieving lower back spine pressure.

I have one of those, although it was sold to me by some chick wearing black leather and holding a whip….actually….never mind. As you were. :coffee:

"Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girl child in the dark
Comes in bells, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart"

I haven't contributed to this thread because for the most part I've been pretty good to go. I'm now officially a member of the acid reflux tribe. Got prescribed omeprazole and that seems to help. Still have some stuff to work past though. I'm trying to get an EGD scheduled. Funny part is even though I've been into my Dr and prescribed meds....I'm considered a new patient to Indy Gastro. 10/21 is first new patient availability. Haha.

Prilosec (or generically Omazeprole, or something like that).  Far and away the best reflux med I've ever used.

Used to have a prescription for 40mg pills finally my body got used to it and wasn’t working so well anymore. Switched to 40mg Pantoprazole a few years back so far so good!

Sucks getting old, eh?  Once I hit 50, I told the wife "I think my warranty expired...everything is going wrong!"

I take Omeprazole 40mg. My GI doctor switched me to Dexilant for several months, and it worked a little better for awhile, but ultimately I went back to Omeprazole.

Can't say I've ever gotten winded dropping a deuce.  Now, I've had more than a few that would take your breath away.....

McDonald's farts are, dry, sounds like a Trombone, and smells like a methane gas cloud.

Holy crap my butt just solved global warming.

  • 3 weeks later...

I am scheduled for open heart surgery tomorrow to replace my aortic valve, repair one blockage and fix a vein that didn't follow the correct path to get where it was going.

My new valve will come from a cow and hopefully it isn't from the cows that were in the Purdue thread a couple months ago.

If all goes well I should be home from the hospital in 5-7 days and then I will be on heavy restriction.

If it doesn't go well hopefully I will be able to hook up with my fellow Hoosiers and have some fun. Lol
