Two door or four door ?  Would have made a big difference with the chicks at that time. The two doors were actually not that bad.   Four doors were out, and two doors were in.

Two door.  Jacked up and Cragars all the way around.  Kick butt stereo system.  Thrush muffler.  Only downfall was the car was a "pooch", but it was mine.

So it was more that "just stock".  I love it.

For me, I tried to keep it a surprise, when street racing. Kept my car rather stock. On the outside.   Had some minor engine improvements done.  And a cut out for the exhaust installed.  So that when a street racer would pull up to the side of me, I would flip a switch, and let my  engine roar.  Unmuffled. Twin( hidden pipes).  Then I would swipe  another switch, and let my rear end raise ( long before there were low riders).  Some tried racing me then.  Others never tried.  Only the bold went onto the next stop light.  LOL

My first car was a 1966 VW Beetle American Standard Oil Blue in color! I remember on campus (Tri-State now Trine) we had a boulevard just made for drag races, My roommates 65 Falcon blew me away, but hey it was still fun!

Ha. Ha.  A Falcon that beat a Bug.  So funny.... and thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I'm thinking your Caprice and the Falcon would have been a better match!

Yes.  The Caprice was a small block 283. Actually a huge step down in power from my Olds.   But the chicks loved the Caprice, for some reason.  And after that, was a big block Buick Rivera, which the chicks loved even more !  Next to my Olds, I loved that Riv. The Riv had tons of torque.  Great on dry streets, but hell on wet roads.   Rued the day I traded her in on a Cadillac.   LOL

1977 Olds delta 88 (this is a photo from Google. Mine was rusted to the core!)

I bought it in 1992 for $400. Ram it head first into a tree at 55mph.

Luckily it was a tank of a car or I like my wouldn't be here today. I was in a wheelchair for a month.

Oh, good times!

I love it.  Another man with an Olds for his first car. And back in those days.... we did not think those tanks were that big.  And to think that there are kids growing up that don't even know what and Olds is/was !

So back in the early-80's (high school) a friend of mine was driving us back from Lake Monroe after a day at the rope swing. He crested a hill at 55, came down and the road was to the left, with a nice, huge oak directly in front of us. We were in a big '70s station wagon. Hit the tree dead on at 55. Both of us are alive only because we were NOT wearing seat belts. We flew through the windshield as the car folded together into the tree, and rolled up this guy's lawn -- he was sitting there enjoying an ice tea. I had amnesia and 6 stitches to my scalp. My friend broke his knee on the steering well as he "exited the vehicle." Good times.

If you consider that good times.... more power to you my friend.  Yeah, I did some stupid things with my first car as a teenager, that later on, in my life I can only shake my head, and thank God.... I am still alive to this day.

But thanks for sharing that story. As I am sure many of us can relate.

88 Escort wagon.  Bolted the back seats down and added a mattress topper from the hatch up to the front seats. Little curtains on the side windows and 'G-Spot' spray painted on the gas tank cover.  I had some great tail in the back of that baby, but alas, I blew the engine trying to take her mudding one rainy evening.

I was thinking the same thing.  They don't make Jeeps like did, back in the day.

My great-grandpa had one down in Tennessee when I was real young.  Man, I loved that Jeep.  My Mom got it when he passed and promptly sold it.  I didn't talk to her for 2 months!
