Potential replacement coaches

The thing it wasn't just Ellis's and the big guy from Chicago.  It was also Holman and McGee who were freshman that had a lot of problems. Even Bassett had a lot of problems so if Sampson had stayed we would still have a bunch of knuckle heads.  I want to win as much as anyone but I want to have pride in the team and I had none for that team.

Didn't say it was only 2 guys but it was one recruiting class.  His first class was Stemler and Mike White who were both good guys by all accounts.

Well according to DD that one of the players on the team worked as a pimp and Sampson didn't do anything about it.  Also he said White came back after the Christmas break 20 pounds heavier and hate him out if being able to play.

Dude...20 lbs over what is a very short break for basketball players? Idc if that’s grossly over exaggerated...if it was TEN POUNDS in that short of time...

COLOR ME IMPRESSED MAN!

THAT is putting away the Xmas cookies!!

Well I am going up with my friend to see Indiana Wesleyan women's team play in their conference tournament.  If I run into Tonnegal I will try to recruit him to IU.  I know he is really close to the Drew family and if I U would hire Scott maybe they bring him in ad an assistant.  What I have heard about Tonnegal is his main priority is his faith and that is why he is still at IWU.  If Drew is the same way he might be more comfortable at Baylor where faith is important.

Bring him in Scott!  Tell him I want him at IU as well.

I am not going to argue the stories Zion is speaking about, they may well be true.

But the only first hand knowledge I have on him, is that a friend of mine was on the staff of the Sweet 16 Valpo team. He said that all of the Drew's are salt of the Earth type of people. Would give you there shirt of their back. He recently showed me a letter of recommendation Homer wrote for him. He said he is closer to Scott than Bryce, but Scott still invites him to dinner now and again after 20 years.

We know Scott some, but not as well as Bryce and Homer. Bryce and Homer are for sure super nice guys.

This season reminds me of the last season Notre Dame had under Charlie Weis. He had a really big buyout as well that didn't get cancelled if he got other work. So he was coaching football elsewhere and ND still paid him every penny over the course of several years.

Still, it had to be done. You couldn't defend the product on the field. 3-9, 6-6, 6-6 over his last three seasons. It was the right move.

Does Indiana have a Jack Swarbrick? Can Indiana hire a Brian Kelly?

People said ND was dead. The fans were unrealistic. It was a has been program from the 20th century living off the past of Lou Holtz, Ara Parseghian and Knute Rockne. Does that sound familiar?

They have gone undefeated in three of the last 10 seasons and gave been to the equivalent of three final fours under Kelly while winning several bowl games at a school that is far more difficult academic and moral conduct wise.

I think we would take those results.

Tell you the truth the IWU women's team is very good and run some of the best offensive sets I have seen lately.  Had great player movement with a lot of ball movement with off the ball screening.  The pace of the game for both teams were great and it was up and down the court shooting 3's and they actually hit layups.  Also the game itself was fast pace with no tV timeouts and no refs looking at the monitor every 5 minutes.  I think IWU hit like 15 3's tonight and all 5 starters could shoot the 3.

I'd take my chances with another Sampson.  If that been any other administration in charge of that the whole thing would've been swept under the rug.

The group who likes this group, myself included, seems to have a pretty diverse stance on things. I think that says a lot.

The worst thing about KS imo was the type of guys he brought in.  The administration certainly should've made him correct that part.

I'm gonna push back on that.

The word thing I've heard about those guys is they smoked weed and watched porn.

Don't like those things? Fine. Want a team of 20 year olds that don't have anyone doing that? Good luck.

He’s worked under some really big time coaches, all the way back to Chuck Daly.  Plus, of course, his dad was a coach.  He’s got a heck of a resume.

He is solid. He coached my NBA team and wasn’t that good. While I recognize he has done well at Nevada, I’m a skeptic bc he didn’t do it for a team I root for.

I agree with this conclusion.

Poor Stevens is clearly a basketball savant, but I fear his talents are wasted with these Celtics. There are times when it feels like he should be back at Hickory showing earnest young amateurs how to run the Picket Fence.

The comments are interesting.  You'd better make a major play Scott even if he says no.

"Great piece, Dan. Again, echoing what most of us fans are saying. If this act were a Broadway show, it would have closed long ago. Brad seems like a decent guy and definitely knows his basketball but without prior cred as a professional coach, the players have clearly tuned him out. Everything that Danny and Wyc have said screams for a new coach. Even Brad admitted it last night that he has tried everything with no results. Should be an interesting next 4 games before the All Star break."
