Potential replacement coaches

I don't even read the national guys anymore.  They don't know what they are talking about.  Just from the title (I am not giving him the clicks) that is a click-baity article that is intended to get a bunch of indignant Indiana fans to see what he is saying.  "Oh boy Hoosiers, careful what you wish for when you fire a coach, then half your team leaves...."  You notice those articles are always written about Indiana?  Always.  The one time I can remember where there was consensus from these knobs was when we hired Miller...."great hire."  And even that was after criticizing the crap out of Indiana for firing Crean.  We are the only program in the NCAA that takes sh*t for personnel decisions.

We have to ask why that is...because these are not journalists, they are content creators.  Writing those articles gets them linked on sites like this or on other IU blogs and then indignant Indiana fans rush to see what this know nothing content creator (refuse to call them journalists) said about us.  Click. Click. Click.  Then they and their platform laugh to the bank from the advertising money they make over trashing Indiana.

Stop making them money.

You can call them whatever makes you happy.  And seeing as how he is employed by CBS...I suggest you stop watching the NCAAT.

Seems like an odd, shortsighted take. Clearly we hope guys like Franklin, Thompson, Stewart and TJD stay for the new coach, but how does he not understand that $10M wasn't given for next season, it was given for the next 10+ seasons.

You don't change coaches in college sports because its going to immediately make you better. This isn't pro sports. You make the change for the next decade of seasons.

Agreed. This is also a perfect storm of a year where you can immediately make yourself better with the transfer rules and players being able to tack on another year of eligibility. If you're going to change coaches, this is a great time to do it.

I am NOT going to bite this time but I also have to admit that seems to have no rational explanation.

My understanding is that these things are not a product of any casino prediction, but driven almost entirely by where the bets are. It's just a game of math trying to make every possible outcome a win for them. So, if too many people bet on Stevens, the casinos need to hedge their bets and entice bets on other people.

I haven't been watching it but thanks for the advice.  And if I was, the two are not connected.  My issue is not with CBS or him making money.  My issue is him making money off shitty takes that get written simply to rile people up.  Shitty takes that drive a narrative that I want no part in.  If you do, have at it.

correct. Vegas doesnt have insider information in this case. They set odds based on perception. They set the odds to attract equal betting across the board. When one option is betted heavily, they adjust to deter betters from hammering 1 option.

What do you think caused things to change so much last night? Serious question...I mean to go from he has a line and is moving all over, to he’s not even on the list to he’s at the top out of nowhere.

I haven't looked at Twitter, but didn't the Celtics get curb stomped last night?  Vegas may think he is looking to get the heck out of dodge soon with the fans going nuts and a place that was offering $7 million a year just a week ago might start to look attractive.

That being said, I am not getting sucked into this again.  I don't see Stevens here under any scenario.  I will eat crow if wrong, but I don't see it.

I’m not either but I find it so odd how out of nowhere the line came.

I am not sure. They took him off at +5000 because with everything that happened last week, everyone was hitting that hard. Putting BS back on at +250 meaning bet $100 to win $250, not many people would bet that.

As talks and rumors heat up, i am sure more people will be adjusted and added based on perception and where people are betting.

Celtics are imploding big time.  Yeah they made a helluva come back last night but still lost.  Smart got into another argument with another teammate this time Theiss.  Brad has lost control.  No I’m not saying he’s coming to IU, but part of me wonders if he is regretting his decision.

They were getting crushed but came back and lost by 2. They had a wide open 3 at the buzzer that Theis just missed. It was a great look off a busted inbounds play, just didn't go down.

But I would say for the team, more important than being down 25 in the 2nd half was having the fight to come all the way back to make it a toss up at the end.

We'll see if that is the start of some momentum or if it was fools gold.

Ok, I was not aware of the comeback.  I saw they were down 20 some points in the first half and ended up going to bed without looking again.

Nice comeback but from the little bit of looking I did into their situation last week, the fans are at about the same point with he and Ainge that we were with Miller...even moreso with the doxxing and stuff.

i kinda like this game, but too many!  i'm also confused if it goes most recent to earliest or vice versa?  lastly conference matters a lot.  that said, looking at only what is on here, i guess i like the first one listed?

In my 30 years of following odds this kind of move is unprecedented.   Line don't lie is my take.

What do you think is triggering it?  Any sense of the dynamics at play?

By the way, how are you feeling after Archie’s dismissal? I always greatly appreciated your input from the Dayton angle.  You had very good insights.

I felt bad for Archie near the end, particularly some of the pressers with yet another loss after another.  He’s not dumb, he knows that can’t happen here.  Anyway, he’s a young guy and I think he will do well going forward.  But he should take some time and process some of the mistakes and shortcomings.  He can be much better if he learns and adjusts.  This is where Crean was hopeless.  Just my opinion.

Anyway, I’m glad you’re sticking with IU and the board.

Not connected?  Oh, oh ok.  My bad.  I should just stick with all the spectacular takes here I suppose...
