You mean like the one we traded away this off season for $5? Cubs are playing/executing extremely well no doubt....but this isn't a very good team. Of course by the looks of things you don't have to be very good to win the NL Central.

Let's stop ragging on the Central.  4 teams .500 or better.

You said one more quality starter...

Of course they could trade the 4 single A guys they got for Yu for a #3 or #4 guy ...😁

That's the funny part. What we should do is take those same guys and call up Nationals and say surely you agree these players are worth it for Scherzer, right? I'd love to hear Nats GM response.

So, How is that Fearless Forecaster doing as of June 13th?  See. above.  Predictions listed first.  Ties are listed in order as they appear on ESPN.

Best Division - NL Central (cumulative deviation score of 0)

Worst Division - NL East (cumulative deviation score of 10)

Glad at least someone else is thinking we should approach Scherzer. Here's my issue though. If the move to dump Darvish was to get prospects because the team wanted to go rebuild mode....but to trade those very prospects and better one's to get a pitcher to cover up your mistake?? That just isn't sound thinking.

It's like selling something and realize your mistake only to pay 25% more to get it back. It's like one of those payday loan places. Haha.

I don't think anyone saw the Giants coming....and on the flip side of that I don't think anyone saw the Twins playing so poorly either. Really good work so far!

That is one way of looking at it, but will that change if the Cubs get to the WS?

If the Cubs make the World Series my brain will implode on 2 levels. First I'll obviously be ecstatic....but on the flip side I'll say where in the world was this the past 3 seasons. Haha. The Chicago sports fan way. Never happy.

I agree with ya.   @5foulshas done a pretty fine job thus far.

If, at the end of the year, the only prediction I have right is the Cardinals finishing 4th in the Central, I will consider it successful.

Stat of the day.

Nick Castellanos and Jesse Winker have the top two batting averages in all of MLB, and neither has benefitted from hitting against the Reds bullpen.

Nick proving once again why I wanted him to stay with Cubs so badly. Easily my favorite non-Cubs player in the league. Love this guy.

My wife is a huge Castellanos fan.  It's not because of his batting average though.

They did get Davies in that trade...

True, but he hasn't exactly burned it up this year.

The Cubs starters as a whole don't have a single pitcher with an ERA under 4...without our bullpen, we're battling with the Pirates to stay out of last place...only Hendricks and Alzolay average over 5 innings per start...

Reds sweep the Rockies winning by 6-2.  Reds have won 10 out of 13 and one of the losses was a late blown lead against the Brewers

Nice showing by Santillan in his 1st start.  Too bad he couldn't qualify for the win.  Time to beat the heck out of the Brew Crew.

Go Cubs.
