for me personally it was the no college experience thing with getting the job only because he is an IU grad.  that no other school would have even considered him.  i guess i'll admit that his age came into play in that aspect.  the fact that he was 63 or whatever and had never coached college and had mostly been an NBA assistant.  that said i am very excited about al that has happened since the hire and very excited for the season.  really hoping i was very wrong, but i do still want to see results on the court before i 100% admit how wrong i was!

I think we were all concerned with recruiting and relating with young kids. That said we didn’t know the power house assistants that were coming along with him...and staff behind him. We all thought the x and o would be fine...now we see the opposite...and just worry he can coach the on court stuff. Still work to be done...but excited to see what he can do!

And just a little highlight reel to wet the whistle. Can’t wait to get this kid on campus!

What I like about the highlights most, his intensity. I want more guys like TJD with some swagger. We used to be the team that would start the scuffles, now we're the team that helps the opponent up off the ground. No more of that please. Intimidation is important. At home or on the road, fear no one and play like it. I haven't seen that at IU in a looooooong time. If I was a leader of the team, that's the first thing I would instill upon them.

Same here, I want a team that gets in the other teams face and gets them to back down. I want IU to be the aggressors. Hopefully someone becomes a Will Sheehey or A.J. Moye type player.

We used to be the team no one wanted to play or match up against. I’d like to see that again. Just f*#kin demoralize the other team before tip off, knowing they have to match up against our energy and passion. So sick of seeing Northwestern and Penn State be the aggressor against us.

For too long we had guys that thought because of the name across their chest of the jersey would mean they got respect. It was a status symbol. They didn’t realize it was the heart inside the chest of the jersey was what made Indiana great. A lot of pretty boy basketball...well it wasn’t pretty basketball but more about how I look doing it. I don’t need no cats...I want some dogs on this team. Less time In front of the mirror and more time on the floor getting floor burns.

Family has been in town moving him in. Nothing in terms of substance on the court but I really think we have a good one here gang. Maybe it's the feel good side of me....but when a family immediately embraces Bloomington and IU. I just feel better.

I believe Kopp should be arriving soon as well. Avengers assemble! Ready to roll!

Xavier arrived yesterday.

I believe Tamar Bates can be as good as Romeo.  Call me crazy but I truly believe so.  Tamar played at IMG, against higher level talent imo and doesn't have near the expectations entering IU that Romeo did.  I loved Romeo so this is not a knack at him by any means.  I can see Tamar making an immediate impact and it appears to have already started with how much his family embraced the last few weeks and moving him in.

Man this fall is going to be soooo much fun with the hype around both football and basketball.

Another good podcast by AJ...Two things struck me...

The story about what cinched him coming to IU while riding in a car with an IMG teammate, and the intensity and focus toward the end when AJ always gives his 5 things an IU kid needs to do...I'm excited about this young man...

I saw this kid today. This kid is put together. off that alone i'm calling it. B10 Frosh of the year.

I really think this kid will take off.  He appears to have it all together like you indicated.  I still am of the belief that he can be as good as Romeo, possibly better here at IU.  Time will tell and if he stays more than one year then it'll be hard to compare but I have high hopes for this kid.

Looked bigger than Romeo up close.

Did ya get his autograph?

No, I have 5 autograph's in my life time. Tiger Woods on a 97' Masters flag, Jack Nicklaus on a 2000 US Open flag from Pebble Beach, his last US Open. A painting of Arnold Palmer, Nicklaus and Ben Hogan signed by all 3, which was given to me by Arnold, who my girlfriend at the time was his secretary.

I'm impressed! Talk about a high roller. That's golf royalty.
