Popular Post Rogermci
Gabe Cupps is hands down the best pure high school point guard I've ever seen. A facilitator extraordinaire. Not a big point scorer but puts up clutch points when needed. Or creates points with some crazy assist. Basketball IQ as high as it gets. Still has a year left to improve under his father who is a brilliant coach and motivator in his own right. Last night was a total beat down of Bronny's team as that game was never in doubt. IU should someday win a NCAA Championship under his leadership. Since I live in Dayton, I will have the pleasure of watching him play this winter for a measly $8 a game. Eat your hearts out!
Madison22
A poster on Inside The Hall watched the game last week. He thought Gabe had 11 points on 5 for 6 shooting. No one can find a box score. I watched the highlights. Reed Sheppard was impressive. IMO, he was the best player on the floor by far.

I like Gabe Cupps, and I'm glad we have him. But Sheppard plays on a different level. He scored 50 in one game, when the coach told him he had to score. Still, if I'm reading season stats correctly, Cupps shot 44% from distance, and had an almost 7:1 assist-turnover rate. It will be fun to see what they both do in college. He's just at another level. Of course, I thought Steve Alford was too small and slow for the BigTen, so what do I know?

Was probably even said that same about his dad playing for stacked Pitino UK teams back in the day.
Madison22
Summer highlight reel. He's on a very well-coached team. Love the back door cuts for layups. https://www.insidethehall.com/2022/08/02/video-class-of-2023-iu-commit-gabe-cupps-summer-highlights-2/
Purdue7
Coaches son so he has already redshirted ? He looks like the combo guards Purdue, Iowa or Wisconsin get. Highly skilled at everything but lacks top end athleticism. Not everyone can be a Newton or Banks athletically

I am a big Braden Smith fan and wanted him badly but Cupps is on a different level than Smith. Not a knock at all on Braden. He will be great for PU and will probably be responsible for at least 1 dagger in the hearts of IU fans but I am very happy to have Cupps

He was Ohio Mr. Basketball as a junior. Ohio is big state that puts out some athletes from time to time and to say he's the best player across it as a junior is impressive.
