Re: Carr. I saw either on this site or another that he is a 56% FT shooter. To me that seems like it is likely he'll never become a good shooter. He seems to rely on his athleticism to get dunks. While he would still be able to do that at the college level, it wouldn't be nearly as easy. My guess is that he'll be a defensive specialist in college and any points are a bonus. Probably not someone you want on the floor in the final minutes of a close game.

I agree and I think with the players that IU has vs the players MSU has he does fit at MSU much better.

Clif Marshall is sad that we lost a kid who lifts weights but can't shoot.  That's his ideal player.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  That commit pic looks exactly like a Marshall Tweet.

Go IU!  Recruit shooters!

Or teach the ones we have to shoot better.

Kid looks like a stud, honestly lol

Bob Knight would be an absolute nightmare of a coach in these times. Mediocre recruits and SO much whining. Not enough winning. Complaining about a recruits hair would not do well today.

I say this as a huge Knight fan from back in the day - he was my ideal coach growing up. But, he would not do well these days as a recruiter.

Not fussed over losing out on Carr though. We need actual shooters.

Coach K was able to adapt pretty well. I do wonder how successful Knight would be in today's game. Those two are certainly two different types of people and Coach K is a little younger…

I feel like Coach K adapted a little better than Knight. I’m really glad he (Knight) is not our coach to find out though. Was already sick of his BS when I was at IU. I can’t imagine how today’s recruits would react to him.

Oh for the love of God... Can't we just appreciate what Coach Knight did for our program without trying to jam him in a friggin time machine and start picking at his flaws?

Vince Lombardi probably couldn't coach in the NFL nowadays either... But he was still a great coach...

If it wasn't for Coach Knight, we'd be almost as pathetic as Purdue and their Helms Banner...

How easily people forget about the 2 championships McCracken won well before Knight was the coach.

2 championships is still much better than a Helms.

I hadn't forgotten about them at all... Last one was 1953...

I just get tired of the crapping on RMK... Without his 3 are we even in the Blue Blood conversation?

I think we know that answer...

By adapt you mean screaming like a madman at refs….screwed your guys in 92 FF

then funneled shoe money to players

not a Knight fan but at least he never cheated….

Coach Knight was a great coach. For me he has always been THE coach of my youth and the architect of those teams that I hold so dear. I appreciate what he’s done for the program and am glad that he is “back in the program.” Love seeing the videos of him in Bloomington and so happy that he has returned.

But he did falter at the end and I’m grateful that we moved on from him. I can appreciate him and pick on his flaws.

I can agree with most of that...

His "faltering" though was much better than most coach's best effort... His last 5 years at IU he was 104-55...

Look, I think Branch McCracken laid the foundation, but RMK built the house. Trying to force his persona into today's atmosphere simply isn't fair. It was a different world in a lot of respects...

Coach Knight is a very smart man. Would the tactics he used in the 70s and 80s work today? No, probably not (but that speaks more to today's players than it does Coach) but if you dropped a 32 year old Bob Knight into Bloomington today, he'd adjust and succeed...

Ha, I would love it if we could magically have a 32yo Knight at the helm again. At that age, he could still adjust/relate to today’s players probably.
