Frankton High School. I'm an assistant coach and special education teacher here.

The Frankton Eagles. They were in the old White River Conference when I played in high school. Lapel, Shenandoah, Mt. Vernon, Yorktown and Pendleton Heights were some of the schools that were part of it.
It is a very small world indeed.
Good luck the rest of your season.

Sorry to keep posting on this thread lol if you search blackford sports on YouTube, you can watch Luke Browns games from this season. They live stream them too, announcers are kinda obnoxious. Our game will be live streamed Friday.

Ok...we (Frankton) won 88-62 tonight. Brown had 33 or 34, and had to work for all of it. The kid is the smartest player I have ever seen. He makes a really bad team really decent. If he doesn’t score a bunch, they have no chance to win. He probably had 7-9 assists as well, with 1 turnover. And we’re fairly solid defensively.

that being said...I want him at IU in 3 years. He’s a 4 year player with smarts like no one I’ve seen. Their competition on their schedule isn’t great, but he does what he does, and is a very, very respectful young man. I truly believe he will be a big ten level recruit, perhaps higher. Obviously this is my opinion, but I’ve seen 11 games on film, and two in person this year. He’s solid. Let’s beat the boilers tomorrow!

How does he compare to the Max McClung kid that went to Georgetown?  I watched some of Gtown last week and he was pretty impressive, especially for a freshman.  He looks like he has a much higher ceiling than a Jordan Hulls.  In his last 8 games he is avg almost 19 a game with a 38 point game and 24 against Marquette, while starting to shoot closer to 33% from deep.  Doesn't have the deep ball like Hulls but way more ability to separate.

McClung is 6'2".  Hulls at 6.

I certainly hope that he is attainable and would like to think that a Big Ten recruit is as high level as they come!

He’s not as athletic per say as mcclung,  not dunking it. But he finds open teammates with no look passes. I’d love to see him in a 5 on 5 where there are 10 quality players on the floor. He’s a scorer bc he has to be, but a terrific passer as well. Butler and Miami FL were at our gym tonight. Wisconsin Xavier and others following...

That’s cool. I respect your opinion and insight. I get we’re after bigger fish. 2 more years won’t hurt him though. Like I said all my opinion. I think he’ll end up somewhere decent though!

Coach, Coach....i gota ask, how have we done over the last 25 years letting players like Brown go other places so we could go after "bigger fish"???

That is not meant to be snarky or anything like that, but there is a player every year or so that we say "he's a nice player, but he's not good enough for us" and then they crush it for 4 years.

Totally understand what you guys are saying.

But, IU has asked around and watched him. And, unless he has a BIG jump in his athleticism he isn’t really much of a Division-1 player.

This ks NOT a knock on him. I am cheering for him! He just doesn’t line up to what IU desires at this point and I don’t expect him to make these strides during a certain time-frame. And neither do those at Indiana.

Thanks for this. Appreciate the explanation. I think with 2 more years, he will end up somewhere paid for. It’ll be interesting to see...to what extent.

I totally agree.

Not quite sure he'll go a Butler level but definitely see him going to college for free. Miami Ohio's coach loves those Indiana kids and the MAC could end up as a really good level for him.

Time will tell. Hope he does great.

I understand in this case as he would have to make up a lot of ground physically to get to a B1G level but the Jalen one still baffles me. On a team of 13 scholarships we can’t afford to have a kid that has Steph Curry range and a family of D1 talent but because he doesn’t measure something we are going to pass. We have no one...and no one even on our radar that has half the shooting talent Jalen has...yet we have no room for that on our team. I get it...it doesn’t fit Archie’s brand of ball... but having 13 guys do the same thing is pretty easy to prepare for....and we saw it the last two games. Nebraska coach even said...Morgan and Langford will try to take over..help on them no one else can hurt you....we saw it yesterday again. Offense play 3 and sometimes 4 on 5 where we have guys out there that couldn’t find a basket  on a peach farm. Why we don’t recruit one or two of these types makes no sense unless Archie has no desire to ever have a team with multiple 3pt threats. Now that some have given his teams 3pt shooting at Dayton it tells me he doesn’t value shooting highly. Even if that isn’t the case I’d like to have a couple specialist on the team. You get against a few teams or you get down big you need some specialist to get you back in the game. They just open the floor for slashers that we have a ton of. Guess we will see who he brings in but I’m always going to think this team will struggle to win it all without some 3pt shooting.

Couldn't say it better even if I took the time to think about for a long time which I do

Just asking because I’m sure of my reading comprehension here...

What does the Nebraska game or this current team have to do with Jalen Blackmon?

Indiana ks recruiting well and I expect it to continue.

As a reminder, Jalen Blackmon (to my knowledge) has yet to pickup his first Division-1 offer.

As I said previously, I don’t expect Indiana to recruit him for a host of reasons.

Coach do you think Leal will get an offer from IU?

Man... IDK.

One of the more interesting/ fascinating recruitments I have seen.

Would like to know more but I don't want to put you on the spot.

This sounds like one of those kids we pass one, goes to Butler or someone we play and kills us every time we play them.

Even if he isn't a perfect fit in Archie's eyes there still is a huge amount of value to having a really good basketball player from Bloomington that loves the hoosiers and would give total effort every day.just my opinion and should be in the Leal thread
