Doesn't this position change likely mean Dexter Williams (a redshirt sophomore who was injured last season) was in front of McCulley on the depth chart and is next in line?

I would hope so but I have no idea. All I’ve read is that it was a “2 horse race” and so DMC was headed to the WR room. Dex hasn’t played a single down yet in college but hopefully he’s been impressive in practice? To Btown’s point, he likely could qualify as a freshman if he wants to with the covid year and injury year. Sadly, unless someone gets injured, he’s not likely to get any reps this year with Conor and Tuttle jockeying for as many as they can get.

Could be a huge 6’5” target

I saw this on Twitter. I hope he doesn't leave. He looked talented but lost, not to mention the offense we were running with him was terrible. He needs to gain strength, but this is probably the right move for him long term. Seems like guys who switch positions get lost in the cracks or get frustrated with the transition and time it takes to get back on the field then leave.

I am not shocked about the McCulley news:

1.  He is still young enough that there is still plenty of time for him to learn the position.

2.  He should understand route concepts and reading defenses from being a QB.

3.  If you get the ball in his hands, he runs assertively and confidently.

4.  CTA was clearly not happy with what happened last year.  In one of the pressers late he muttered something about dual QB's still needing to be able to complete passes (the other half of the dual).

5.  You knew CTA wasn't happy because the walkon from Noblesville literally played.

6.  If he has good hands and can run routes, he can be really good if he works.  He is a beast with the ball in his hands.

I have a hard time believing there are 66 better QB's than Sean Clifford at PSU. If people want to dock him because if injuries, ok I get that, but when healthy he's one of the top (not the top) QB's in the Big Ten.

You and I chatted about him awhile back.  I’m not a believer in him.  However, I agree with you.  No way there are 66 better.

His completion percentage needs to be better, but in every other category he's right up there.

His numbers are better than Bazelak's, and I go back to the fact that before his injury last season PSU was undefeated and up 20 in the first half at Iowa in a primetime game.

He got hurt in the 2nd quarter and he and PSU were never the same.

He's not an elite, Heisman guy or anything like that, but he's absolutely one of the top 3 or so Big Ten QB's.

I think top 2 are Stroud and AOC but 3rd is up for grabs tbh.

Yeah, ol' Herm isn't gonna last through expansion, I'm afraid. Too bad. Good man.

The other one that kinda surprises me is Fitzgerald. No matter what quality of product he puts on the field, he seems to be viewed as a lock to stay in Evanston.

Seems as though Herm quickly got the ship heading in the right direction only to run aground.

Fitz is a living legend.

Background: Went through a divorce back in April. So with less money and more time on my hands, I started driving for Uber/Lyft.

Three weeks ago, I’m out at 2AM on a Saturday (driving drunks is good money), when the conversation turns to the state of Indiana. When Evansville is mentioned, one passenger asks another “Isn’t that where your brother played after Indiana?” The answer: “No dumba**, that’s Evanston….Illinois.” So naturally my mind is clicking through IU-Northwestern transfers, and I asked who her brother was.

“Peyton Ramsey”

I had completely forgotten he was from Cincinnati. Overall, she was very nice and was somewhat surprised that IU fans still thought so highly of Peyton. I guess that they had encountered some that held him transferring against him or something. I assured her that was definitely not the case among any IU fan that I knew.

The story continued yesterday. I pick up a couple from a hotel and am driving them to the downtown casino. Usual conversation again, and they say they are from Lafayette. Naturally, I get in an IU joke at that, and they say their son played there.

It was Coy Cronk’s parents, and they were in town because….Coy is serving in Peyton Ramsey’s wedding. They were both genuinely nice, and I couldn’t help but ask what Coy thought of Urban Meyer last season. His mom came across as the stereotypical sweet, polite midwestern mom, so I almost had to pull the car over from laughing at her answer: “f***ing moron”. Followed by, “don’t worry, I know how close we are to Columbus, but I figure this is safe company.”

Small world, ain’t it?

Also, congrats to Peyton Ramsey.
