  1. I saw on another site saying that Rabjohn is reporting that Kaiser has cancelled his visit to UCLA. He also said that his visit to IU went very well.

  2. Gabe Cupps is hands down the best pure high school point guard I've ever seen. A facilitator extraordinaire. Not a big point scorer but puts up clutch points when needed. Or creates points with some crazy assist. Basketball IQ as high as it gets. Still has a year left to improve under his father who is a brilliant coach and motivator in his own right. Last night was a total beat down of Bronny's team as that game was never in doubt. IU should someday win a NCAA Championship under his leadership. Since I live in Dayton, I will have the pleasure of watching him play this winter for a measly $8 a game. Eat your hearts out!

  3. First time to really see Cupps play other than highlights, which can be misleading. First, that team was impressive. They share the ball, keep moving, and can shoot it. They actually try to play defense. If I heard correctly, the other team had not been together as long, so take that into consideration. Still, Cupps can impact the game in multiple ways and he actually took a charge. He's definitely a PG. At no point did it look like he was trying to do anything other than set the offense and run the team. A nice shot and great vision. Finished a couple at the rim. Played under control. Somewhat surprise he has a decent first step and was able to get by the defender baseline and into the lane. On defense, where I have the most concern for his future, he did not appear to be a physical mismatch in favor of the other team. When I heard 6'2 165 that was the first thought - how can he compete defensively. My guess is he is bigger than that today and has over a year to add on. Usually when I watch an IU recruit in these types of games they tend to blend into the background. Of late, that's changed. JHS and Malek were noticeable. Gunn looked good in the all start games. Cupps may not be flashy but you could tell he was in the game and in a positive way.

  4. I don't like it when done to extremes. (6 guys for 3 spots) However- if basically got 4 commitments from lets say Cupps, Newton, Kaiser, and Page, would we accept a late commitment from Booker? I think we all know the answer to that.

  5. People that barge off an elevator, head buried in their phone, only to realize it's not their floor. Amazing thing, those elevators. They will tell you the floor number before they open the door if you are so inclined to look for it.

  6. I was watching him mainly on defense. Surprised me how quick he was. Had no issue staying in front of quicker ball handlers. Did a great job cutting off driving lanes. If he can play some defense, I could easily see him getting some minutes as a freshman.

  7. He'll get to IU and then Marshall will get to work on him. After that he won't be a 28% shooter...

  8. Out visiting family in CA, unfortunately the first week I spent in the hospital. But as I was picking up my bag to get discharged the other two guys in the room were talking sports. Wouldn’t you know it but the one guy from Mexico, said he was an IU fan. I didn’t get to talk with him about it much as I was on my way out but he said he didn’t attend IU he just likes them. I think the big will play in CA.

  9. Actually, getting Page’s commitment just MIGHT help with Booker ( go Irish) as it could eliminate concerns that he would ghet stuck playing down low a majority of time. 😉

  10. They’re frustrating but missed calls are part of the game. Even the robo umps that have experimented with in the minors have had bad strike calls. Partially because the strike zone changes with every hitter. Even the boxes they put on tv aren’t always accurate which doesn’t help umpires.

  11. This young man will be a fan favorite in the line of those like Yogi and Hulls. He will be fine on defense and he is much more athletic than a lot of people give him credit for.

  12. I’m so glad Cupps is IU bound. He’s better than Bronny. I said what I said

  13. He shot 42% last week at the event he attended with a good number of shots. He shot better than Power and Kaiser. You can find there stats on btown banners

  16. After reading the article about the Kaiser viist I think he pops for IU last week of August so I am still hearing that we will get a commit before the 1st day of classes. My money is on Harris-Smith by 1 day before Page announces.

  17. I'm coming up on 18 years here in LA and I have come across LOTS of 'traditional' Big Ten-region transplants. IU has a large and robust alumni network out here, as do U-M, OSU, Penn St. to name a few. There is a big appetite for BT football here, and I think the novelty of having our teams playing out here will generate substantial interest.

  18. agree…shouldn’t be the normal way of doing things nor do I like it. I also like to have a spot open for a portal guy too…but I think it’s an inevitability. 13 kids and 3-4 not playing…someone is going to want to find playing time elsewhere.

  24. He's committed to Cincinnati. Maybe Rob Phinisee can light a fire under him. Say what you want about Rob's offensive struggles, but effort was never a question with him...

  25. CMW seems to be building a team of tough, hard nosed players. The ability to defend looks like the number one priority. He is looking at some kids who can shoot, but they must also be able to defend. I don't see any Blackmons in our future.

  26. When they showed the rosters with the player rankings it appeared to be a mismatch according to the ratings experts... So much for that, eh?

  27. Here's the game edited down to 14 minutes. Gabe's team won 78 - 67. Gabe is #0 for Midwest (black jerseys).

  28. This is the first time that I have seen Cupps. I appreciate how he plays within himself. Has a good understanding of the game on both ends. And it seems he is looked to as a leader on the floor. And for the record, I really like Reed Shepherd. 😬

  30. He has no choice but go to the rim, he can't shoot. 28% from 3. What are we doing looking at this kid so hard. Arent we all tired of watching 28% shooters yet.

  31. all right... gonna brag on my son again... he started preseason workouts at Presbyterian July 5th. he is a walk on and seems to be really fitting in and liking the team and coaches a lot. here's my brag - he hit 108 straight FTs a few days ago. also ran the fastest mile on the team. some good ways for a walk on to make an impression!

  36. I agree. I think that the national thought is Page or Booker but I don't think Indiana has ever thought of it that way I think that's why the recent CB picks for Booker as many expect Page to IU. The Booker camp keeping things pretty quiet

  37. I understand what you're saying, just not comfortable with it... But, in Woody I Trust...

  38. I’m guessing he will play through contact much better than Miller. Think Ron Harper Jr…not on that level, yet obviously, but similar builds…I could see him being that type of player by year 3

  40. But by oversigning you change transfers from a possibility or probability, to an inevitability, no? That's what I'm a bit uncomfortable with. If no one beyond the 4 that graduate wants to go, then you're looking at booting kids who want to be at IU, and have put work in to help the program... And I think we all know the kids we're talking about...

  41. Sounds like they've been out front for awhile. Hopefully, Woody can close the gap and then close the deal.

  42. I heard a national guy say that IF IU takes Page that closes the Book on Booker. I don't think that's the case, as Page potentially to IU builds i think MSU picks up more CB picks.

  43. 2 crystal ball picks for MSU. 1 is from an MSU homer but the other is Travis Branham who gave it a 7 confidence.
