  3. Had fun at the spring game! Managed to get into the Varsity Club shindig despite not being on the list (lol) and was able to meet Mackenzie Mgbako, Jakai Newton, Anthony Leal and Anthony Walker and got their autographs.

  4. Myles Rice is back in town, per his Instagram. Good for Rice, because it's Little 500, but good for Kanaan Carlyle who visits this weekend as well. I know Carlyle's been assumed for a while now, but I'll take any good vibes I can get until it's official.

  5. I saw TJD...DOIN' WORK ON kIRKWOOD tonight. Good to see him back in Btown with recruits in town. By the way it was 2am he was heading toward the gradute hotel and a group of girls chasing him. Good to be a young millionaire, maybe.

  6. I find this really weird how you are baggin on the guys coming here call it a done deal to IU. Then turn around and say "this one is over." because of a crystal ball prediction.

  7. Went well and he is a take. He's trying to decide if he wants to take anymore visits.

  8. TJ Power is a better fit for the current roster than Essegian is imo

  9. On one hand, I love seeing UK taken down a peg or two. On the other hand rooting for Jerry Jones/John Calipari to do it is like rooting for the murderers over the rapists.

  10. I'm not going to lose sleep over Essegian. But I'm tired of people acting like something is "done."

  11. 2014-15, and they did legitimately go 10 deep but it was injuries that shut it down. Cauley-Stein, both Harrisons, Lyles, Ulis, Booker, KAT, Dakari Johnson, Alex Poythress and Marcus Lee all averaged 10+ MPG, but Poythress went down early in the season and Lee was dinged up most of the year. And it worked, that was the year they were undefeated until they lost to Wisky in the FF. One of the only times Wisconsin has ever been useful. 😂

  12. I'll also add that outside of the doom and gloom that you may read on conservative media, Portland is great city. Does it have some of the at West Coast hippie, liberal attitude about? Very much, but it also eclectic city surrounded my so much natural beauty. It is not the warzone everyone makes it out to be, although their Chinatown was a bit suspect. Cities with any sort of age are always going to have problems due to having to deal with diversity, aging infrastructure, and now changing dynamics in market (work from home, online shopping, etc.), but I'd like to think human's are still social people that want to be near each other.

  14. We've certainly looked worse. More depth defensively is needed, at least in the front 7.

  15. You’ve got a true sophomore that is definitely a pass first guy (Cupps), a complete unknown (Newton), a senior that is a marksman but struggles getting his own shot (Leal). If Connor makes guard number 7, you’ve got to figure he’s tied for 4th at worst.

  16. And by "coaching malfeasance", you mean Teflon John being an idiot, right?

  17. I’ll bump this because a wise guy said it. Also because we have to remember that was is “done” today can be undone or redone tomorrow. Nobody here has an agenda. I value the insight and info. Does it make me at times get my hopes up? Sure. But I also am balanced enough to know it’s all fluid.

  18. I spent 5 hours walking around campus and the mainly the downtown area yesterday. I did not get that impression at all. I know it is purely anecdotal though. At most, I encountered a couple of folks who seemed to be having a rough time in life (I'll leave it at that).

  23. We’ve got 4 more spots, I believe. Essegian, Power, Malone, and Carlyle. Woody wants to play 10 deep. That’s probably a legit 10 deep rotation. He can shut everyone up about having shooting and dynamic guards.

  24. Good timing, since my power just came back on after going off last night in the storm. Off from 10pm until 9am. Odd twist.....My power company is Duke energy. Maybe it is a sign?

  26. It shouldn't. Malone is a 5. He can stretch the floor but he's a 5. IU still needs another 4 imo.

  31. Finding guys willing to accept a role is going to be the challenge now. The big from Drexel not looking to go up against OB for playing time. Probably makes sense because of the investment IU made in OB. Still, you're leaving Drexel and expecting to be the starter by default at a power conference program? Possible I suppose in today's crazy NIL world. Is it likely? What about practicing against better players if your goal is the NBA? Maybe that's not what they want. Maybe IU already discussed money and it wasn't what he expects. It really seems every player in the portal now expects to he treated like a five star super recruit. But several of them will not be on a roster when the music stops.

  33. Nebraska lost 6 to the portal. They have minutes we don't have. I am just going to add, if a kid takes another visit after leaving IU, he isn't a lock. He might come here but he isn't a lock.

  34. This is also giving a rise to a growing moderate population that's sick of both sides of most issues. We're the ones smart enough to keep our mouths shut on social media though. 😉

  41. Absolutely could be misdirection like Ballo announcing ten minutes after it was reported he was visiting Arkansas. Or it could be true. I'll react after it's announced. RTZ gets a lot more street cred if he's in the minority and right, though.

  42. As an employee of IU this is very biased and one sided. The president has done a lot of great things like centralization to reduce costs and increase support. Plus her push make IU more student centric instead of just faculty centric is the move all schools need to make to survive. Plus reduced fees for students at IU. No more siphoning money from students where I know schools and departments were using those fees to support things that did not apply directly to the students. Also in my area no one has been let go/RIFed to make these things happen. Faculty across all the campuses do not understand the new landscape of higher ed. Regional IU campuses will close soon if they don’t get on board. Lots of things I could get into but won’t as I don’t want to cause discord.

  43. Regarding all the posts about putting TJD on their all-time Hoosier team. For me, selecting a player for an all-time team is difficult when taking into account 50 years worth of fandom. As I get older, my criteria of what makes a 'favorite' changes. As a kid growing up in the 70's, I idolized players for their performance on the court for the Hoosiers. Didn't matter what they were like off th he court because in that day and age you didnt really know, and even if you did, the stats were more important to a kid like me. During the 80's and 90's (late teens through mid 30's) I favored players that I had seen play in high school (Damon, P. Graham, Edwards, Henderson, among others). I gave special designation to Keith Smart, not only for the Shot, but for the way he dominated the last 6-7 minutes of that game. The dark days of the post Knight era through the early Crean years just aren't a tine I look back on fondly. Even 'good memories' like 2002 and players like Eric Gordon and DJ White are not high on my list. 2010 to present. Watford was a favorite of mine even before the WatShot. I loved Vic until the way he left the Pacers. He lost me there. Yogi was a slow burn but over time he grew on me and I now consider him one of my favorites. Romeo I prefer to think fondly of his high school years. Nothing about the Archie years is a good memory. I really, really did not care for Archie, and that will forever taint that period for me. That brings us to TJD. I can honestly say that as a Jr. and Sr. at IU and this NBA season have pushed TJD to the pinnacle of my personal fan favorite list. I love everything about the way he plays and represents IU. He is not only a great player on the court, but someone easy to like by the way he conducts himself off the court. The only NBA I watch are Warriors games, and that is solely because of him.
