  1. Just a quick message of appreciation to Newton and Cupps. They could have easily taken the portal route but seem genuinely engaged in bringing talent to IU. Appreciate you guys and hope you ball out next season!

  2. Zach Anderson would be an absolute perfect fit.

  3. Current names to know are Zach Anderson, Leland Walker, Ben Humrichous, and Elijah Malone(he might be looking for a bigger role but isn’t for sure out of the picture yet)

  4. Well IU will have minutes to offer at the 4 and 5 as the roster currently stands but I agree. They need to get smaller school guys that fill a couple open roster spots and then hold a spot for Humrichous imo

  5. Not super concerned right now about trying to get bench role/depth players. 247Sports said 2 days ago there’s over 1700+ players in the portal, with over 17 former burger boys. I think a lot of them (especially underclassman) are in for a wake up call. At the end of the day, only 68 teams get to the tournament. They may all have convinced themselves they deserve a starting role, but obviously numbers wise, only 340 kids in the entire nation get to be a starter and get to March Madness. And we all know it’s not 68 Power 5 schools getting there. So yea, a lot of these kids at some point are going to have to make compromises/sacrifices with their wishes if they want to be a part of something meaningful.

  6. Actually, all but the 2 up lights and 4 fixed beam spots are dark-sky compliant. And I have the spots dialed in on a pretty focused area, so there shouldn’t be any upward projection.

  9. I appreciate them staying as well, but I have a feeling that this coming year will be a learning year for them both. I hope they stick around the year after as well.

  10. And I’d take Power over Polychronopoulos in a heartbeat

  12. Pardon me for actually putting this thread back on topic, but here were the goings on at Chez Zline tonight. The annual spring ritual of adding, adjusting and tweaking my outdoor lighting. There’s 7 pathway lights, 2 wall-wash flood lights, 1 conventional diffused flood, 2 mini-spot lights, 4 fixed-beam spotlights, 5 adjustable beam width floodlights and 2 uplights , all powered by 2 150W transformers. The two green marks are the two additions, which were the mini-spotlights. The yellow mark was an upgrade, from a fixed beam to an adjustable spot. Everything is low voltage (12V) LED, and everything is from Volt Lighting except the two up lights, which are WAC. The only other planned changes this year are the two new garage lights I almost have ready, which I’ll post about separately. I do want to add one downlight above the center of the garage door and a down light focused on the front door at some point, but…in time. Edit: yes, add this to the list of stuff I’m a geek about. 😂

  13. This is accurate but IU is staying in communication and will likely get a visit at some point

  19. And I guess it's now 4 cents but I wouldn't mind holding one bullet left in the chamber when kids go to NBA Camp and find out they aren't getting drafted. I know the last scholarship is a sensitive topic but I'd prefer to hold one.

  25. See! This is the awful humor that I say is a direct fallout of @Zlinedavid returning to HSN. It's nasty contagious. So, as zline often gets, I give you a 🤦‍♂️

  28. That's the one that's at 2nd and College (more or less) right? Damn....that used to be the Kroger I'd go to. I held on to the IU-themed Plus card I got from there for like 10 years after I graduated. 😂

  29. I know I've said this at least a few times, and if anyone is wondering WTF I'm talking about, the "Calhoun's health is the word" goes all the way back to HSN 1.0, when it was part of the Scout.com network. During the recruitment of former 5* Jelan Kendrick (which I believe was 2007-2008ish), at one point it was reported it was a tossup between IU and UConn. An "insider" posted that Kendrick to IU was a "Done deal, Calhoun's health is the word". At the time, Jim Calhoun was fighting cancer. Well, as it turns out, Kendrick was a bust who played 3 different places, none of which were IU or UConn.

  36. As an employee of IU this is very biased and one sided. The president has done a lot of great things like centralization to reduce costs and increase support. Plus her push make IU more student centric instead of just faculty centric is the move all schools need to make to survive. Plus reduced fees for students at IU. No more siphoning money from students where I know schools and departments were using those fees to support things that did not apply directly to the students. Also in my area no one has been let go/RIFed to make these things happen. Faculty across all the campuses do not understand the new landscape of higher ed. Regional IU campuses will close soon if they don’t get on board. Lots of things I could get into but won’t as I don’t want to cause discord.

  37. This is also giving a rise to a growing moderate population that's sick of both sides of most issues. We're the ones smart enough to keep our mouths shut on social media though. 😉

  38. I'll just say this. Campuses are filled by ideologies and Bloomington is no different. Sometimes a President comes in and doesn't believe those. I FULLY support President Whitten and that's all I'll say on this one.

  40. Highly recommend the right shoes for hiking. I have one pair of hiking boots but generally prefer hiking shoes. I got a pair of Merrell trail runners for my trip to Africa. Super comfortable. Think light weight sneakers with good traction. Those and my keen sandals were all I needed for 2 weeks. Wife and I hiked Lions Head in Cape Town yesterday.
