Just a quick message of appreciation to Newton and Cupps. They could have easily taken the portal route but seem genuinely engaged in bringing talent to IU. Appreciate you guys and hope you ball out next season!16 points

Things aren't over with Essegian and their is mutual interest with IU and Power. Ya and Walsh are on Power15 points

Here's my two cents. With Tucker, Rice, and Ballo we've already crushed the offseason. If/when Carlyle says yes that's even better. No disrespect to the Hickman or Essegian types but they won't move the needle like the above. If Essegian comes great. If not....find another.14 points

As an employee of IU this is very biased and one sided. The president has done a lot of great things like centralization to reduce costs and increase support. Plus her push make IU more student centric instead of just faculty centric is the move all schools need to make to survive. Plus reduced fees for students at IU. No more siphoning money from students where I know schools and departments were using those fees to support things that did not apply directly to the students. Also in my area no one has been let go/RIFed to make these things happen. Faculty across all the campuses do not understand the new landscape of higher ed. Regional IU campuses will close soon if they don’t get on board. Lots of things I could get into but won’t as I don’t want to cause discord.13 points

The IDS article (per usual) sucks. Those look to be the weakest grouping of reasons needed to hold a "vote". Academia is full of p******.12 points

Goode wants to attend KSB and that was a major factor in this decision.11 points

Insiders claim he may or may not commit. It may or may not be imminent. The portal is fluid. You heard it here first.11 points

I'll just say this. Campuses are filled by ideologies and Bloomington is no different. Sometimes a President comes in and doesn't believe those. I FULLY support President Whitten and that's all I'll say on this one.11 points

I saw that name and thought "Fisch is going to sound like Harry Caray after a 12 pack trying to pronounce that" 😂10 points

With the addition of Carlyle, Indiana now has the 7th ranked recruiting class in the country, and top transfer class overall.10 points

TJ Power is a better fit for the current roster than Essegian is imo10 points

I find this really weird how you are baggin on the guys coming here call it a done deal to IU. Then turn around and say "this one is over." because of a crystal ball prediction.10 points

Myles Rice is back in town, per his Instagram. Good for Rice, because it's Little 500, but good for Kanaan Carlyle who visits this weekend as well. I know Carlyle's been assumed for a while now, but I'll take any good vibes I can get until it's official.10 points

As many thought, the new CBB landscape is VERY favorable for a program like IU. To be able to rebound like this after such a terrible year is just incredible9 points

They only got him because they paid him a lot. It's nothing to do with Bill Self. Shew that felt good to say.9 points

On the surface, this goes to my past posts about institutional rot and the damage it's doing to IU. It appears that the president is attempting to pull IU back from the abyss. What I've read thus far, I don't think the president is any more the problem at IU than Woody is. It's a much bigger issue as evidenced by the vote of no confidence. For now, I'll resist the urge to say more.9 points

Nikita Konstantynovskyi who's a 6'10 F/C from Monmouth is a name that the staff has been in contact with and there might be some interest.8 points

Indeed. It’s short sighted money grab. Kids will have no legacy anymore…any connections to an Alma mater etc will be gone because you sold out your schools. Something to be said for staying 4 years and building a lasting legacy and connection to the school that you will carry the rest of your life.8 points

My take on the specifics: Not a needle mover for me either way. There has been war in the middle east for literally millennia at this point, and I have no dog in that fight. Not a reason for a vote of no confidence though. Reprimanding a faculty member for lying on a form and conducting an event without university authorization. Isn't that what a president should be doing? From a financial standpoint, I don't have a problem with this. A president wants to investigate the possibility of selling off an asset for potential financial gain for the university? Again, kind of sounds like what a president should be doing. Not trying to liquidate it at all costs because they want to get rid of it. Not scratching and clawing to keep it. Investigating the possibility. Also, notice the lack of commentary about what the Kinsey Institute is in my statement. That's intentional. That's a very strategically worded statement. "Refusing to publicly support....". Did the president also refuse to publicly admonish the act? IE, remaining neutral/issuing a no comment? If so, good, that's what a president should be doing in this instance. They're trying to spin this up into an issue whether the university as a whole is pro- or anti-abortion, which doesn't need to be done. This is an issue I'd need to research further before commenting on. My response to this would be....ok, fine. Provide examples of just what the hell you're talking about. That's like being charged with a crime that's defined as "conspiracy to commit wrongdoing". What's the wrongdoing? Graffiti? Jaywalking? Murder? High Treason? Big range of things that isn't described. So there's a few items that I'd need clarification on, a few that I'd side with the president on and a few that look like someone trying to push their political agenda. There's no misappropriation of funds, no blatant association with known hate groups.....nothing I can see that would warrant a VONC.8 points

I agree with this to an extent, but I dont want to rebuild a roster of 6 guys from the portal every year. In state kids especially with the level of talent that Sisley has, are the type to build around and less likely to transfer generally speaking. In state/home connection, with PT, with $$$. No reason to go somewhere else. This year we have 3-4 starters from the portal. I think we hit homeruns, but I cant see that happening every year. Sisley and Sisley type players would bring a bit more stability. Yes you could say... what about CJ Gunn. And I would say... well Gallo came back to possibly come off the bench, and Leal came back for 5 minutes a game.7 points

Ok, gonna start deleting posts. No disrespect meant, but gonna keep this a little more on point. This is clearly a discussion for the Mike Woodson thread, or a new thread about roster construction. Valid debates, wrong place.7 points
