I would certainly think so. I saw Wilkins at a Pacers vs Hawks game awhile back. Found out he does color commentary for them. Wiki says he's been doing so and is VP of basketball since 2004 the same year Woodson started as a head coach there IIRC

Would Smith start for IU? JHS is. The debate shouldn't be JHS for 1 vs BS for 4 it should be JHS for 1 and whoever else for 3 vs BS for 4

New '24 and '25 names (incl 6'11" 300 lb center)

Not to mention Woodson has success as a college and pro player and other traits recruits can relate to that Calimari doesn't -
2023 DeShawn Harris-Smith Offered
cybergates replied to PointGuardEyes's topic in Basketball Recruiting
I would assume some version of this conversation occurs (at least it should) when a recruit tells a coach they're not coming before their announcement. I know some recruits supposedly don't tell any coaches prior to the announcement but you would hope most kids have a conversation with a staff that recruited them -

I can't be the only one who thinks that when Bidunga dunks it is going to sound like badonkadonk, can I?

Nothing shady unless you consider being a underprivileged kid's guardian and giving them a laptop for school. That kid then goes to a school where the guardian was deemed a booster for making a few small donations and receiving some bumper stickers.

I heard on the radio that Pritchard likes where the Pacers are at #6, because the player they're getting is still elite enough to go that high, and presumably will have a chip on his shoulder b/c he felt he should have gone higher and several teams passed on him. Also stressed that they want someone who LOVES basketball, and they asked questions in as many ways as possible to try and determine that. I don't see them paying the price to move up 2 spots. Of course, this time of year everything said should be taken with a grain of salt. It would be cool if they find a way to add a 2nd lottery pick and/or additional 1st rounders, but I'm also ok with giving as much experience as possible to whoever they add from this year, sucking/tanking for a high pick next year, CLE makes barely makes the playoffs like we hoped they would have this year giving us a high non-lottery pick, and rolling into 23-24 with a talented young roster ready to grow together.

Little biased? Forgot to mention the disfunction regarding Brooklyn and the Simmons (no or net negative in return for Harden) drama, Bucks without 2nd best player entire series (Middleton), Heat injuries when making the road to the Finals comparison. Celtics have the best record since 2022 right? And have had their own injuries to deal with but don't think there is any reason to discount the Warriors path when comparing it to theirs. Both took care of business presented to them.

Reminds me of college Gordan Hayward here. Pretty impressive for his age.

I liked that TJD put that out there. It is leadership and putting people on notice. He even critiqued/criticized things about Woodson specifically what they did and didn't practice. He's not here to mess around, now you may be, but he's not. He had to sit around with sub .500 record in this league. He will not let people put him in that position again. Or they will pay for it like you wouldn't believe

2023 PG Gabe Cupps Commits to Indiana
cybergates replied to hoosier_exotics's topic in Basketball Recruiting
Does Gabe have side-spin rotation on his shot? -
If it is to us, we should probably spell his name right in the topic
-
He got waived in Feb so currently he's not.

I forgot his dad went there until I saw his announcement tweet. Played football

Lander inbound?

That's a common misconception about gift tax. After the 16k annual exclusion you have to file a gift tax return and it will count against your lifetime exclusion currently 11.7million in 2021. So I could give a gift to TJD of 100k and no one would pay taxes on it. Recipients don't pay taxes on gifts. Donors don't pay taxes until their lifetime exclusion is exhausted

2023 PF Kwame Evans Jr. Commits to Oregon
cybergates replied to IUFLA's topic in Basketball Recruiting
Altho I did see Coach Altman there yesterday -
Izzo was in Westfield for EYBL yesterday so he wasn't watching Booker like Woodson was.

Looks like his name is spelled Rolf not Rolfe.

Dane Fife not returning to Indiana
cybergates replied to IUwins0708's topic in General Basketball Discussion
I was thinking about his comedic nature in regards to his coach in waiting and Woodson is old stuff from the Rabby post. I can easily see him talking to others and saying that in a joking way and it getting back to Woodson lacking context. -
He just needs to pick a place where the path to playing time is there and the team is more offensively focused

Dane Fife not returning to Indiana
cybergates replied to IUwins0708's topic in General Basketball Discussion
I wouldn't be surprised if Dane knew this was coming for awhile now and his late season detachment on the bench was reflective of it. -
They need to revive this Boilermaker tradition. They say IU sucks but their own tradition says Boilermakers Blow!
