One reason this recruitment has been quiet is because Hood-Schifino has no real social media presence. He's on Twitter/Instagram but rarely posts. Which is kind of refreshing in this day and age. He's going to want to get that going to take advantage of the new NIL era, which I'm sure is being discussed during his visit. There's a good ESPN article about NIL and IU is mentioned prominently.

Be nice....Lander, Bates, and JHS...that would be a nice trio!
I like getting kids from the sports academies. They play and practice against high level competition every day. Montverde currently has 5!!! players in the 247 top 33.

He's talking to dudes like you chief. This staff is just getting started. They landed one of the five best recruits in the Big Ten with Tamar Bates. Any team recruiting nationally will lose most of these battles for players like Filipowski. Unless you are a troll on here to torture IU fans then keep on keeping on.

Agreed.
Hood-Schifino is scheduled to visit Indiana tomorrow. If Woody and Coach Hunter can land this guy he will likely be the top rated guard of all Big Ten recruits for the class of 2022. Surpsied there hasn't been more discussion about this kid. He's from Montverde Academy and is a major recruit.

Not getting my hopes up at all on this kid. I think North Carolina is a done deal. Calling it now. Can go ahead and kiss this one goodbye as well.
He visits Duke next week.

The IU message boards were convinced Trey Kaufman was going to commit to IU until the video leaked. Before that Purdue wasn't even seen as a real threat to land him if it wasn't IU. We all know how that turned out.
Sometimes message boards are right, sometimes they're wrong. Probably wrong more often than not. In their favor this time is that Purdue is close to home so they do have a good chance.
Pretty sure mentioning Kaufman was banned in the terms and conditions when I signed up for this site It will be interesting if the close to home thing is a factor because Michigan State isn't much further than West Lafayette. Purdue needs to get Washington's commit next week and have him cancel all other visits. The Spartans are going to negitively recruit heavily here as Izzo has sent several recent players at Washington's position to the NBA and the last time they lost a PF to Purdue it was Swanigan.

While Turdue might be the favorite I wouldn't put to much stock into what message board fans think about recruits and what team they are going to. I've noticed that most of us are clueless when it comes to recruits.
Sometimes there is a wisdom of the crowd effect. As when Justin Taylor announced his commit date every Syracuse message board and social media account said it was over. Some people on those Cuse sites knew something. You can see StlBoilers response. Lots of Purdue fans have heard Washington will pick Purdue. Theres going to be some real shocked and sad Boilers if he goes to North Carolina or Stanford.

Just got changed to an official visit.
Purdue is the team to beat here in my opinion. From just message board surfing most Boiler fans seem to think they are going to land Washington. And what a win for Painter if he bests North Carolina in a head to head recruiting battle.

I've only heard snippets of the interview, but I'll take a swing on your questions.
1. Rosemond brings a more national recruiting footprint with more/deeper ties to the recruiting underbelly scene (an no, that doesn't bother me in the least). For IU to compete recruiting-wise where it seems Woodson wants to be, they need some guys like Rosemond.
2. Absolutely not. Woodson's job is too win, not placate the "IU guy" portion of the fanbase. It seems to me he's trying to build an NBA-style organization within a college program, and Mike Roberts probably doesn't fit that.
3. Similar answer to above. Woodson's job is to win, and he brought in another, more established assistant that is a former player in Fife. So, he actually upgraded our "former player assistant" position.
This. Agree with every word. And I think Roberts had a chance to stay on in some sort of administrative role, but wanted to keep coaching. Great topic starter for general discussion!!!

NC, UVA, and IU are all superior to Syracuse from an academic standpoint and arguably offer a bigger basketball stage (certainly no less). In the case of UVA it's many tiers ahead academically and in the case of NC it's many tiers ahead in terms of national exposure. In IU you've got a better academic school, a bigger national basketball presence, and current buzz/momentum exceeding just about every other school in the country.
IU isn't superior academically and in fact is behind Syracuse in the US News college rankings. I love Indiana, but there are other great schools each with compelling selling points to basketball recruits. In reading the Syracuse message boards the Orange pitched Taylor on taking Buddy Boeheims spot in the offense. Buddy personally recruited Taylor. That's why he also turned down UNC and Virginia who are much closer to home and as you stated are indeed better colleges academically. As the above poster mentioned IU is in no position to look down on Syracuse. I have total confidence this coaching staff will be formidable recruiters. We will miss more than we get. On to the next one.

I don't know...I think Hubert Davis may surprise some people...UNC usually knows what they're doing in a coaching search, if you overlook Doherty 😁
I think he was a much better hire than Jon Scheyer...
And I still think Jalen Washington should be our #1 priority for 22...
Yes, I also think Hubert Davis will do well but he also lost out on Taylor today. Lots of UNC fans thought Taylor was coming. The same people are also convinced they are going to land Washington. Let's hope they are wrong about that too.

All four North Carolina assistants watching him play today. UNC was his first official in early June.

So everyone gave up on this kid just because of what rabjohns said? 🧐
I guess you never give up until it's official. But I saw Rabbys post. He has a source that said IU wasn't an option. I've not seen any reason online to be optimistic about Taylor announcing for Indiana.

Oh I don’t think it’ll be an issue at all. I’m sure if Myles really wanted to go to IU over Purdue, Rosevelt and his wife would give him their blessing.
I sure did. And luckily, my parents told me all along that I should go where I wanted, not go where they wanted me to go. I legit had friends in high school (children of IU grads) whose parents legit told them something along the lines of, “you can go to Purdue but if you do, you’re paying your own way.” Those same parents asked me where I was going and when I told them Purdue, they were like “and your parents are letting you?!” I’m so glad my parents didn’t act like that. I still can’t believe it lol.
I’ll be brutally honest: if my future kids want to go to IU, they’ll have my full blessing. They should do what’s best for them and not care if I went to the rival school.
Depending on the major I'd encourage my kid to go to Purdue over IU. And I'm a lifelong Hoosier.

Had a crystal ball pick for Louisville on the 17th. No recruit uses the phrase "absolutely phenomenal" when speaking of a school. sounds like this could get interesting.
Those are amazing post visit quotes. Similar to Jeremy Fears. I don't remember seeing any comments like this after visits to Bloomington in the past.

It's almost july . We have one commit in the class from the previous staff.
We've seen this movie before.
Only two teams in the Big Ten have more than one 2022 commitment. UK has one commit and Duke has zero players committed. Baylor only has one commitment. Some of the highest ranked guys on our list have yet to visit campus.

In the article that started this thread he said he was offered by Fife and Woodson. Coach Woodson is new at this but certainly Dane Fife knows enough about recruiting to avoid offering a kid who is a mortal lock for Purdue. Those father/son college connections don't always work. If they did Sean May would have been a Hoosier.

I mean you go after +/- 30 kids every year. You're not going to land them all
No matter who Taylor picks there's going to be some big time college basketball programs who missed. That's how it's going to work for every highly rated recruit. The coaching staff gets a long leash after keeping most of our players in the portal then landing Tamar Bates. My first post!!!

Cool story. Thanks for sharing. Looks like he's built for the Big Ten. Some of our more recent offers are physical players - the two 2023 guys Colvin and Kaleb Glenn then this player for 2022.
