  1. You should have tried hockey. True story -- my mom didn't want me playing running back/football, so she put me in hockey. šŸ˜† I still haven't figured that one out. I've broken virtually every bone in my body, put guys through and over the boards, put guys in the hospital, been put in the hospital, knocked people out, and it was all a blast at the time.... But now I'm older ....
  2. My favorite all time player, the Knick Killer.
  3. What do you call 10,000 lawyers chained together at the bottom of the ocean? a good start
  4. You sound like me as a kid. At 16 I went through the windshield of my friends station wagon, doing 50 on the roads around Lake Monroe, as he lost control and went straight into an oak tree in someone's front yard. Both of us went through the windshield. If we'd been wearing seat belts we'd be dead, as the station wagon completely folded in on itself. I woke up in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, ended up with stitches in my scalp but no other injuries (besides the concussion). My friend broke his arm going over the steering wheel -- he told me how the owner of the house was sitting on his porch as we rolled up his lawn.... Also got hit by an IU campus bus when riding my bike as a teenager, broke my ribs. I taped them up myself so I didn't have to miss any hockey. My mom noticed me taping myself up one day....
  5. Ugh. My wife had to have back surgery years ago to deal with a ruptured disk, no fun at all but for her it was effective. Hope yours go well.
  6. OK so posting this thread to laugh at annoying health issues and aging. I'm older, but not old, lol. Early 50's. Have always been active/athletic, now dealing with an annoying injury, aggravated by annoying doc. Early summer 'tweaked' my right ankle playing pick up basketball. Got worse, can't run, play ball, hurts even walking. Tried a boot I had lying around the house, no help (sorry Crean). After months of Covid delay, finally got an appointment with a sports orthopedic (doc for Houston Dynamo, had treated my son's soccer-knee injuries). X-rays showed arthritis, from a decades' old injury, leaving little cartilege/room for the bones. Doc says sorry, you're old now, you have arthritis in the ankle. Told the doc thanks, but that's not it. It has to be tendon or ligament damage, I can't even raise up on my toes, no strength, real pain in the front of the ankle, it's not compression pain like bones hitting. Had to convince him to let me have an MRI. And what does the MRI show -- three ruptured tendons. Torn, damaged tendons. Meet again with the ankle guy and what does he say -- so, did you see the arthritis in the ankle in the MRI? I'm like, uh, yeah, did you see the three torn tendons? He answers, yes, but did you see the arthritis? I'm like, what? is this about you're wanting to be right?? What about the torn tendons?? He says, well, since your ankle is arthritic, I'd say do nothing. I'm like, seriously? What about rehabbing the ankle? He says, oh, well, I guess we could do that. You think? Lol, getting older is a bitch -- and so is dealing with docs.
  7. Love me some Hitchcock. Any time I see The Birds is on, I try to watch it.
  8. A great example of a guy who many thought wouldn't make it, who declared and then continued to grow his game. He's a solid outside shooter to go with his inside game, impressive continuing growth as a player.
  9. Thomas Bryant 9-12 fir 21 with 14 boards in W over Durantā€™s Nets. And Curry goes nuts for 62 in W over the Blazers And ... PG for 39 on 15-24 and 4 assists to break the Suns win streak
  10. Itā€™s a gradual process with KenPomā€” his metrics use last year stats, so at the beginning of the season they are next to meaningless, but as the season progresses they reflect the current season strength of schedule, offense and defensive comparative strength etc.
  11. Nebraska back within 6 of MSU with a little over 9 to go
  12. What an amazing comeback, after being down 876 points
  13. Vic went from a 27 percent shooter to a 43 percent shooter, on the year, right here at IU
  14. Yeah too bad UT didnā€™t just fire him when the fan base called for his head
  15. Texas now leads KU 74-51. Yeah, Texas is pretty good.
  16. Texas still up 12 w/about 11 to go in the game. And Providence giving #11 Creighton a game, 4 point game, 13 min to go, Providence winning second half so far.
  17. Butler 2 points, 0 FGā€™s in 27 min in loss to Dallas. PG playing strong for the clips currently leads scoring and assists. New season, new discussion
  18. I'm here in Texas and never understood canning Barnes. He had them in the tourney every year -- as in every single year (I think except 2012). He got them Kevin Durant. At one point he was UT's all-time winningest coach. He had at least 20 wins, usually more, almost every season. They were always competing at the top of the Big 12. But they couldn't beat KU, KU always would win the Big 12, and kind of like Crean Barnes wasn't getting them past the SW16, so the admin got greedy and pushed Barnes out. Not well thought out, Barnes is a very good recruiter and a good long-term proven bball coach in a football state.
  19. Here's a part of what Stephens said: ā€œI think Romeo is going to be an NBA player for a long time,ā€ Stevens said in a Wednesday video press conference. ā€œI donā€™t think thereā€™s any question about that. Heā€™s got a great feel. Heā€™s got great athleticism. He knows the game, he works at the game, heā€™s a very good worker. So, I think about it more in terms of heā€™s just missing half of his second season, or whatever it is, and I think that thatā€™s hard when you already went through injuries as a rookie. ā€œYou know, he pulled his hamstring a minute into the stint versus Miami (in the Eastern Conference Finals), so like, thatā€™s frustrating. But as far as big-picture, long-term, I would venture to guess that heā€™s going to have a long career based off who he is, his work ethic, and his ability.ā€ https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/celtics/celtics-romeo-langford-gives-injury-update-wrist-2020-21-nba-season-nears
  20. Saw an interview recently with Stephens, saying he sees Romeo as having a long NBA career, that he's an excellent worker, and that he's just had bad breaks with repeated injuries. Stephens is pretty clearly high on Romeo. This is what I've been saying for a while now, Romeo hasn't had the chance to be healthy and really show what he can do for Boston, while surrounded by excellent players who are themselves playing well, but Stephens sees him as a long-term, excellent player in his own right and people should be more patient with his development, he needs to get fully healthy and then, with his work ethic and talent, capitalize on the opportunities Stephens will give him. For those who don't know, Romeo had surgery on his wrist in September
  21. A lot of pre-game talk about the (supposed) PG-Dame feud. Clippers are flat out destroying the Blazers. Dame is 2-10. PG 6-12 for 19, in the third.
