  1. that's why we play the games. To see how we stack up. I just think our offensive deficiencies are going to be our downfall on to many close winnable games. Our defense will keep us close in a lot of games though, which are just going to cause more heartache since we're going to be within striking distance so many time. Just my crystal ball prediction
  2. Oh how i wish i could believe we will end up 10-10
  3. The biggest foul that is overlooked to me is the forearm push off by guards wo create space. It does get called occasionally but man, they let guards do it all game. Drive me crazy to see it over and over
  4. Can we just start a "Hot Seat" thread where all these arguments can take place. Its a legitimate discussion and one that is ok to discuss, but can we not discuss it in every single thread. And i say this knowing i get sucked in to the discussion myself at time. We definitely know there are several groups of fans within this board.
  5. I disagree, I think lander should start. I think he has a better upside and maybe Rob would be better coming off the bench. He has had almost no offensive growth. Lander isn't as good a defender but he is a better passer and ball handler. Not as good a shooter but at least he shoots his shots. Rob just waits and wait and wait until he get 2 perfect 3 pointers. I like Rob, but i would prefer to grow lander this year and have him blow up next year. Move rob to the 2 guard and Franklin to the 3 or have Franklin the 2 and rob as the 3 guard when needed. just me though. Rob frustrates me because he should by all account be much better than he is right now
  6. Have you dug into how they are using him? Is he on the block more than the perimeter? I would be interested in knowing how the coach is using him
  7. Iowa is legit good. If they can stay out of the late season collapse, they are final 4 good
  8. Not all hero's wear capes. I am happy we can do this little thing in his name. Good job HSN
  9. i don't know who Caleb Furst is so i don't if you're trying to make me feel stupid or making a point?
  10. yes, you can train lateral quickness. But big guys have it or they don't. Davis didn't have it. Garza doesn't have it. You can work around your short cumming but nothing wrong with saying its something to worry about.
  11. Only thing i see is that i am worried about his lateral quickness. Will he have issues being able to move his feet and defend.
  12. Thanks. Didn't look far enough down before creating my topic. Sorry
  13. damn, the only thing that could catch him i guess
  14. i feel its more about confidence to actually shoot the shot, even if they don't make it. You have to respect it. I mean how many time were all of big guys standing wide open from 17 - 23' and stand there looking to pass it to someone else. Take the shot, win lose or draw at least they know you will shoot it, and if you can do what Smith did against MSU a couple years ago, make them respect you. Plus big men need to develop both hands as much as a outside shot. As if not more important to me.
  15. i also don't understand why we can't shoot 80%+ from the FT
  16. They aren't. Just my opinion. I like my big's shooting mid range shots with the ability to use both hands around the rim. In my opinion, if you have guards and wings who can shoot 38%+ then you won't have anyone clogging up the lane, they have to respect your shooters, which leads to you big guy with more room to move around the rim. Along with wings having the ability to drive the baseline.
  17. I would rather have guards and wings who can shoot and hit 3 pointers. That would open the lane more than if we have 1 big who can occasionally shoot a 3.
  18. But can he hedge out 35' and recover back to the basket quickly enough. , I kid i kid. Great pickup. We need 4 year role players with heart and motor
  19. Depends on who you are reading. There are alot of those who don't want to lay anything at his feet and there are those who want to blame him for it raining outside. I just think we need to put blame where blame belongs. Doesn't mean we don't want him to succeed or we want the man fired. It just means we want accountability and ownership Just my thoughts though
  20. Not saying you're wrong. Not saying even if we win less games next year but play with passion and fire that CAM will be given a reprieve. I am saying we keep finding ways to keep excuse everything wrong with this team without laying any at the coaches feet. He needs 5 years. He needs to get rid of CTC's players. He needs players that fit his system. He needs players who have drive and passion. Then we will turn around and when these 3 freshman play like freshman and don't bring what everyone wants, we will say, oh they are freshman, they need time to mature and learn the offense. He needs more years to get his culture here. He has only been through one full recruiting cycle. We will go a long way to make an excuse for every reason other than maybe the coach is in over his heard in the deep end of the pool. I am not saying he is or he isn't. But i am done making excuses for him. Good coaches can coach. They can make adjustments. They can discipline their guys while inspiring them. They can adjust their game plan or offense/defense scheme to maximize the talent they have on the floor. They make good decision and stand by them. They do what they say and you see the results, good or bad. At the end of the day, CAM is top guy. The one getting paid. The one who makes all the decisions. Who is accountable for what people are paying for. And if people stop paying for these results, you will see something happen. Start looking at the upper decks if we lose tonight. That will tell you how invested the fan base is. See how many leave early. Listen for boos or if the place just cannot get as loud as it usually is. Who cares what we say on here. Watch the game and the crowd. That right there will tell all you need to know about the fan base Sorry for rambling. I just want to be better. I want to talk about IU with pride again and not have to make excuses about why we do "X". Go Hoosier!!
  21. unfortunately it better translate immediately into an upward trajectory. If it take every class 3/4 years to reach their potential with CAM he won't make it out of his 5th year. Expecting 3 freshman who are not top 50 players to come in and impact immediately, we might be setting our selves up for disappointment
  22. I agree, the kid gets off the floor quick on putback and dunks. I am just surprised he takes as long as he does when taking a jumpshot. I really like this kid and think he is going to be a terror for us
  23. He has a really slow set and release on his jump shots. He will need to improve his release. Looks good though. Like his upside
  24. We should go after the best candidates for the team, regardless of rank or state. If the best 5 who fit our team are 5 stars, go after them, and the next 5 who fit the team and then the 5 after that. You don't have to only have Indiana kids or 3-4 year kids or one and done kids. Its all about who is the best for your type of play and who buys into your plan and who fits the school. Winning cures everything. No one will care if every player on the team was from New Zealand if we won a NC with them.
