  1. Yep I agree! Think it’ll look closer to the 2019 team with Carsen. Much more athleticism across the board and TKR will be the focal point in the low post.
  2. You make a good point and it is interesting to see the difference in philosophy of our programs going forward. I personally love how CMP is still building it through the HS ranks and supplementing through the portal with a Lance Jones for example. I think a guy like Kanon Catchings would’ve been more heavily pursued an Illinois/IU pre-portal days for example. I do wonder how much different the portal will look after the COVID year goes away.
  3. How are y’all feeling about the recruitment? I think it’ll end up being pretty tough for him to say no to IU but we shall see.
  4. He didn’t have the option to stay at Purdue though. Once he told Painter he’d be moving on after the season, CMP recruited accordingly. He was always going to either play somewhere else or stop playing altogether.
  5. Has an IU or Purdue basketball player ever transferred to the other school? I know it’s happened in football recently.
  6. Yep I think that’s a good call. And being 25 with an undergrad/masters from Purdue with a masters from Duke will look great on any resume.
  7. Yeah watching Storr jack up awful shots was very pleasing to the eye.
  8. A guy who didn’t come back for his 6th year was painted over? lol the guy had his undergrad and masters. Sometimes it’s time to move on.
  9. Reaching for a guy who shot nearly 47% from 3?
  10. Lumping Purdue in with Wisconsin is an interesting choice. We don’t play close to the way they do.
  11. My guess is Furst either plays and has a chance to start next year or he retires. I don’t think he’d go play someplace else.
  12. He already has a BA and MBA from Purdue so that’d be smart to get another degree from a school like Duke, get paid, and play for a good team.
  13. Lol he might. But he picked a great school and a great program after getting 2 degrees from Purdue. This all boils down to it not being about lack of NIL for him leaving. He was always going to leave (same with Morton) after the season. We didn’t even attempt to bring him back.
  14. I think it’s clear both Loyer and Smith are sharpshooters but both struggled at times last year. I think some have a harder time adjusting to the college game than others and they were both worn down by the end of that season. I think they’ll both see a dip next year with Zach gone but still think they’ll shoot it well. To me, it’s a combination of form, consistency, etc…. Even with Galloway’s high percentage a few years ago, I never considered him a sharpshooter for example. FTR, I think Essegian is a sharpshooter too.
  15. They missed the tournament 47 years in a row lol. No way they deserve top 25 over Purdue and plenty of others.
  16. I’m obviously biased but I don’t think there’s any way you can leave Purdue out of the top 25 even without a championship. Top 10 in all-time wins, most B1G championships, All-Americans galore. Don’t see any real argument for Wisky over Purdue honestly especially with them missing the tournament 40+ years in a row.
  17. I don’t disagree with any of that and think you make a lot of good points. But at the same time, NIL has evened up the playing field for teams that couldn’t compete before (see Miami for example). It’ll be interesting to see what the portal/NIL looks like once the COVID year is gone after this upcoming season.
  18. I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive. Look at a school like Illinois. They’ve got robust NIL and have a history like Purdue’s not IU. Plenty of NIL heavy hitters don’t have better tradition than an IU or Purdue. All it takes is a John Ruiz at Miami to buy a Nijel Pack for example. Definitely helps having an alum like a Cuban or Ishbia for MSU that’s for sure.
  19. Did you read the disclaimer? It talked about how they estimated it but admitted it’s private data that isn’t shared and it’s simply a “best guess.” Regardless, Purdue hasn’t been hurt by NIL nor will it be moving forward.
  20. Lol the collective figure is simply an estimate and there’s no way to know how much we actually have. And IIRC, your numbers are inflated because of a donation to the athletic department from the university to help with COVID costs. Wasn’t a “true” donation but rather a loan that the university has to pay back. $38 million gift from the school.
