She is just in a rock and hard place.  Indiana is very much a conservative run state that and the university has a lot of liberal thinking throughout.  It is a balancing act to keep the funding flowing from the state, but not impose restrictions on free thinking.  Many of the issues are no-win situations no matter who is in charge.

I just heard a news story about this yesterday, I think, though I can't find it.  This same battle is happening between public universities and conservative legislatures across the country.  Indiana isn't mentioned by name here, so maybe it's not even that contentious of a fight 🙂  But you can see some of the same points mentioned here (e.g., the grad students organizing).

Hopefully our resident Illini fan can come along and explain but Juwan Howard just said in postgame presser about Terrance Shannon Jr you're welcome....i.e. he committed to Michigan and went to Illinois instead. What's the story here?

I'm not your main guy....and I had totally forgotten about that rumor.  I still don't 100% get it.

I don’t get these big name exhibition games. TN wins at MSU, IL beats #1 KS and Ark beats PU. None of those wins count in the season record or tournament resume. What’s the point?

The Illini-KU game, at least, was a very late addition to the schedule, to benefit the community of Maui after the fires (presumably since both schools are in the regular rotation for that tournament...KU is going there this year, they had some sweet Hawaiian-print uniforms).  The broadcast was pretty fun, both coaches miced up, both did in-game interviews.

Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk of Illinois in the portal...

Didn't get much time last year, and I don't know how he figured in Underwood's plans, but they aren't going to have a lot of size/depth up front

According to the scholarship grid on the forum, Illinois currently only has 9 on the roster next year, and the only ones who played meaningful minutes are Hawkins, Melendez, and Goode.  Talk about your complete unknowns.
