  1. Wish I could love this post 1,000 times. Right there with you. And I went to both games at Madison Square Garden, first time I’ve traveled like that to see my Hoosiers. My daughter lives there, so we went. Sigh. Red flag looking back is the speech Vic gave to the team. “It means something to put on these candy stripes.” At the time I passed it off, but it kind of lingered - why that speech then? Why the need to say that? Where was the leadership to instill that? Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I don’t think so. I truly hope the athletic department, BOT, and President Whitten are aware of the apathy setting in to the fan base. It’s approaching unprecedented levels, imo. I say again, I am the canary in the coal mine. To the poster who suggested it’s just a game, yeah, you’re right. But it’s also a business and it deserves to be treated as such. The business of IU bball currently employs some great talents who deserve better leadership, and the business of IU bball deserves to be put in the best position to succeed.
  2. Thank you for sharing. This sounds like an improvement; I’m hopeful they will see the benefit in having the conversation prior to the end of the season, so that a decision can be made promptly then. I would have preferred a decision (to restructure) to have been made yesterday, but this is an improvement.
  3. Love Assembly Call, try to listen to the postgame show, and I think they’re very fair but also very real & honest. They’re optimistic but also realistic.
  4. To be fair, the annoying trait is not reserved for women, nor should it be applied to all. I’ve heard it can also apply to some male coaches & announcers as well. 😉 Carry on! Go Hoosiers!
  5. Today is the 44-year anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. Would be a good day for IU to create its own miracle.
  6. Tip from another forum about cheap tix on StubHub, so I took a look. $4 seats. Lower level. 😳
  7. Option A. I'm the canary in the coal mine. If even I think it's bad, we're toast. A lot has been said, but I'm done as of about a month ago. We have talented players - I love our guys. They don't have leadership, and that starts at the top. It is February. Year 3. We lost great players last year, which has happened every year I've been watching IU basketball (a lot of years). But where is the backup to those players, the leadership, the direction, so that in year 2, 3, or 4, those guys are ready to take the floor? The idea that we're going to fill the roster with the portal and it will magically correct itself is honestly kind of sad. The portal is here, I support it, but the idea that we need to use it to correct deficiencies that could have been addressed a YEAR ago is pathetic. It's a bandaid approach to repair what should be a long-term plan. I don't need to hear "over the hump" one more time, or that we missed shots, or that we played hard in the 2nd half. Playing hard, rebounding, blocking out, etc should be a given. I don't need to hear another press conference filled with soundbites that have been repeated ad nauseam. I don't sit on the bench, but I don't get the sense that CMW listens to constructive criticism, or his assistants, and I have no reason to believe he'll start listening now. The look on Calbert's face at the last game was the nail in the coffin, for me. Awful. Maybe it had nothing to do with the coaching. But we're better than that. Two previous coaches I gave too much time before I realized another direction was needed: Archie Miller, and Tom Allen. (Not personal - like them both.) I learned my lesson. These IU players, these young men, deserve great leadership, we have the tools to give it to them, we need someone in administration to get brave and make the call. It's been probably a few years since I've posted here; that should be an indication of my level of frustration, lol. I'll continue to watch every game because I LOVE IU basketball, I love our players, I love the pep band, and this is all over in 3 weeks. However, I do not love the direction this program is going. There is more apathy out there than people realize, and that needs to change. Go Hoosiers!
  8. No - I will hope Purdue wins tomorrow because I just cannot stand Fran. Jaden Ivey is a great player; hope the Pacers get him!
  9. Yesterday was my first game in 3 years, and my first time ever to a game in the Big Ten Tournament. It was AMAZING!!! It was just fun to be around other basketball fans, the Big Ten community, and even during the first half, I enjoyed the game. My youngest daughter went with me, and so got to experience full Mrs. Stoller crazy hype-ness in the 2nd half lol. Crowd was pretty quiet for the first half, aside from moments. (Admittedly, I needed a beer at halftime.) People in front of me weren't clapping or cheering or anything. Ridiculous. Thankfully ALL of the crowd stepped up in the 2nd half! Section 106: BRING YOUR "A" GAME TODAY!!! So much fun, so glad I was there. IU crowd was just applauding all the effort, even fouls. Just a terrific energetic turnaround; you could feel it in the building. Will need that intensity again today! Go Hoosiers!!
  10. In the bonus, little over 8 to go, they can focus and regroup I think. I hope.
  11. I was very surprised. For a brief second, I thought, is that still a thing? Because I hadn't heard it in AGES.
  12. Ok, I will share this with you all.... Do you follow Barstool IU on Instagram or Twitter? If so, the Throwback Thursday photos from yesterday... 😂 NOT THE BEER KEG one (or the one of the 5 guys)!! The others I can claim 😂
  13. Standing ovation!! Watched/listened to Fife’s media time and really don’t have anything to add except he just nails it. On all counts. Funny guy, gets it, determined, really liked what he said about the player/coach relationship being like that of with your kids and just knowing who’s in their ear, what are they hearing, etc. Nailed it! He is the real deal.
  14. Just saw his post on Twitter!! Very excited to have Race back!! Just a terrific player and individual.
  15. Just finished the Fife interview by DD, and it's really encouraging and great to hear the philosophical side of the coaching plan, and how this is all coming together. Very encouraging, very excited for the coming season and all the players.
  16. Listening to Dane's interview with DD right now. I'm 2 minutes into this and already loving it. As I thought he would be, glad to hear that Izzo was so supportive. And just laughing that he starts off the interview by admitting he's delayed his trip to get a car seat out. I'm first in line at Karma for tickets to his show! Hahahahaha
  17. Yes. Already playing in my head hahahaha. He'd be fabulous!
  18. Haha, yes! I did say that! He's so funny. He and Pat McAfee on the road in the off-season - I'm so there.
  19. Haha! Same!! His tweet was so classy. Just loved it and CANNOT WAIT for the season to start!!
  20. Just saw that Lander is returning! Very excited and glad he will be staying.
