Put that one in the win column and never think about it again. Good enough to land us at

In 5 games, and 150 minutes of playing time, his stats were:
78 points (15.6 average)
23 assists (4.6 average)
zero turnovers (0.0 average)
He shot 41% from three for the first 4 games. Also, he was a 90% free throw shooter in high school.
I live in Dayton and have watched him for 4 years. He is the best pure point guard I have ever seen. He will never be a +20 point scorer because he's too unselfish but by the same token he won't turn it over or make boneheaded plays. Might never play in the NBA but he will leave his mark in college.

Does he have another televised game in this event?

That's what I'm thinking. He'll more than likely wanna play for a Championship contender. We will not be in that category next year.

Cupps is not XJ on defense but he is above average. The one thing he doesn't do is make mistakes. He averaged only 1.9 turnovers a game. In the above game he had 1 turnover which did not result in points. The game was an extremely high level competition matching the two top teams in Ohio over the last 3 years. I've seen him play a half dozen times. He's a baller and probably the best "pure" high school point guard I've ever seen. He can handle the point for IU.

XJ brings tremendous energy and toughness. He's a superb defender. We missed him and will help next year. I agree with you on team quickness. A little more burst will help with loose balls. I would not question the desire of any of our guys.
Bob, do you think XJ coming back next year to IU is a cinch ? Realistically we have no chance of winning NCAA. Seems to me that he would want to fill a spot on a team that needs an experienced pg to get them to the promised land.

Gabe Cupps final game: 22 points, 7 assists, 1 TO.
Final year stats:
15.4p; 4.6r; 6.1a; 2.2s; 1.9to 49% FG; 39% on 3s; 91% FT
It will be SO nice to have a 90% free throw shooter on the team. Maybe he can teach correct form to others.
Don't forget the 3 steals...

At the end of last year he was the best PG in the conference. Cupps is great on paper for sure, looks and plays the part of a pure winner...but I'd welcome a chance for a kid to be around a guy like X for a year. Having more good players is never a bad thing in my opinion.
You run the risk of Cupps decommitting which would be a far greater loss than getting XJ back and not winning either the B1G or the NCAA.

I don't see the point in bringing him back. We have no chance to win the NCAA next year. Why steal minutes from incoming point guard Gabe Cupps next year? All Cupps has done is led Centerville to the Ohio big school championship 2 years ago, runner up finish last year and the number one ranking prior to the tournament this year. I've watched him play for 3 years and the kid can flat out ball.

If we beat Michigan on Sunday, what else has to happen in order for us to secure a double bye and not play until Friday?

Most brilliant game plan and coaching job since Bobby Knight.

Yeah...double digits won't surprise me at all. No one plays well on the road and no one gets a visitor whistle. Don't see the freshmen guards getting rattled at home like they did on the road.
I meant IU covers

Lines always intrigue me. We all know the intent of a line. I get that part but in getting to that line Vegas uses tons of information, data, metrics,etc....to get to that point. I'm just surprised after only losing by 2 up there last year and winning 2 of the last 3 in the series it's an 8 spot.
6.5 now. I think they cover

Well, get used to the international players because they will replace the one and dones. Zona will be fully committed to stacking their team this way going forward.

We weren’t good enough. Lacked physicality. Didn’t play tough enough. We missed Jalen and needed X to step up but he didn’t like being bumped every time down and he lost his composure. Miller Kopp was a huge plus.
Not to mention we spent a ton of emotion on the NC game and the Hood absence was a big surprise.

Gabe Cupps is hands down the best pure high school point guard I've ever seen. A facilitator extraordinaire. Not a big point scorer but puts up clutch points when needed. Or creates points with some crazy assist.
Basketball IQ as high as it gets. Still has a year left to improve under his father who is a brilliant coach and motivator in his own right. Last night was a total beat down of Bronny's team as that game was never in doubt. IU should someday win a NCAA Championship under his leadership.
Since I live in Dayton, I will have the pleasure of watching him play this winter for a measly $8 a game. Eat your hearts out!

I was at the shoot around. Absolutely have to believe Geronimo is a full go. Trayce shot around 20 treys. I counted 4 made. He actually looked pretty good. Not shooting outside 10 feet must be a mental thing with him.

They couldn't miss, we couldnt make. Spent a lot of emotional capital in Purdue game. That happens. Quit bitchin. Geez.

IU wins by double digits tomorrow. We are a nightmare matchup for the Huskers.

As simple as this: We panic in the last 5 minutes of close games. We have no coolheaded, calm clutch players to handle crunch time. This is not a coaching problem. It's just the makeup of this group.

Just a terrible loss.
IU is still severely hampered as a program with our talent level at the guard and wing spots.
I'm not talking about high school ranking, I mean actual college talent. We don't have shot makers. We don't have anyone on the wing or at the guard spots that can consistently break their man down and step back to knock jumpers and 3's down.
PSU hit numerous difficult 3's as the shot clock was winding down, IU has nobody who can do that.
Your post hits the nail on the head. We are panicmeisters in clutch situations. Helterskelter is the operative word in the last 3 minutes of a game. Everyone guilty as charged.

Now they show IU -3.5. That's more like it.
