In all honesty, unless we snag some portal “shooters” Tucker doesn’t move the needle much. We need Tucker plus a few more.
I agree. He may very well end up being a fantastic player but his weakness is his handles and he isn't really a 3 point shooter. So how much will he really help this team if we still can't make 3's?

Thanks to Kenya
Maybe thanks to a big bag of money? Does anyone else think we are mainly only getting talent now because we're offering to pay them the most? I realize immediate playing time is a bonus but $$ talks, right?

So I live in the Louisville area and what's happening at UofL is comical. They whiffed on Drew last week and he basically publicly bashed the program and the fans, then went all in on Dusty May only to lose out to Michigan. Yesterday the rumors were swirling with Richard Pitino (wtf) and now today it appears it's a done deal with Pat Kelsey. Apparently they offered the position to Josh Schertz after May but then found out he had already signed a memorandum of understanding to be the next head coach at Saint Louis because he thought he was out of the running at Louisville. You can't make this stuff up. So Kelsey is at minimum their 4th choice and all of this is public. It's good to know that the IU administration isn't the only clown show in town! 😂

You would seriously take Dennis Gates over Woodson? Missouri went 0-18 in the SEC this season.
Ok he is literally the only one that I wouldn't. You get the idea though.

So we're loading up the money to buy Woody some players but we can't pony up the money to fire him and hire a coach that doesn't need the most expensive hired hands to be successful?? I can already see what's going to happen...we'll have the highest payroll in college basketball with mediocre results. Cool

This wasn't just a he-said, she-said situation. The police report documented that she had a bite mark on her arm.
Her refusal to cooperate with prosecutors may have made trying the case untenable, but any school looking to hire him would need to make its own assessment of the situation, not just move forward because the alleged victim changed her story.
You don't think Ole Miss did that?

How is it ridiculous to not want himcoaching at IU. Hiring him might he the one thing for me to stop rooting for IU
I didn't know it was guilty until proven innocent in our justice system. Are you saying Ole Miss is a terribly unethical university for hiring him? I'm sure they did their due diligence and had their own investigation.

There's literally not a chance that Beard will ever be the HC at Indiana University.
Well to me that really sucks. He will probably win a championship somewhere. For him to not even be considered when the time comes for a coaching change is ridiculous IMO. But then again our administration has been ridiculous for decades now.

What concerns me the most about Woody is that everyone thought the biggest issue would be recruiting but he’s actually done quite well there (Ware, Mac, Fino, Reneau, Liam). Instead, the worst parts are his schemes and roster construction- things that you would assume he was brought here for due to his experience handling that at a higher level.
I would feel better about the future if I knew for a fact Reneau and Liam were staying, Gallo was fine with being a 6th man if need be, and our staff was attacking the portal for guards. Also, adjusting our schemes to prioritize perimeter scoring and a balanced attack with speed and movement.
I just struggle with having confidence in Woody that he can do that. We as fans have bitched and moaned for like 8+ years now about shooting and yet Archie, his leftover assistances (Hunter, Walsh) and Woody haven’t seen its importance until it’s been too late. Woody also talked about his former NBA teams and how much they shot beyond the arc and said we would do a 4 out 1 in once TJD left because we only played bully ball as a result of his skill set. Instead, we’re doing it just as frequently and we’re again getting exposed for our lack of balance and perimeter threats.
I know some people say the fan base is toxic by asking for a new coach every 4 years or less. But it’s not the fans who decided to hire a mid major coach who made a couple deep tourney runs or a guy who has NBA coaching experience but none in college. If we had listened to the national media and allowed their opinions to form our decisions so we don’t look “toxic”, we would have ended up struggling with Archie for 2 more years and hired Alford afterward and been in a similar situation.
Woody knew himself he was brought here as a short term hire and said he came here to “win championships”. To me, short term hires are made because of the confidence you have that someone can come in quickly and improve the situation. Not the case with Woody. Would have been interesting with Matta had he passed his physical.
I would be more patient and understanding if we weren’t top 15-20 in game attendance, NIL donations, revenue, and social media presence. Objectively, we have way too many pieces for a coach to be successful. We’re also paying Woodson a top 10-15 salary. If it weren’t for us fans and our patience through all the ups and downs, we’d be a Georgetown/DePaul/Louisville.
The only objective reason Woody should get another year is to reduce the amount of $ in his buyout so you can throw a Brad Stevens type offer for the next dream coach. If Woody and Dolson want to talk about how much they love this program, then they would honor that by having some self awareness and doing what we did with Allen and pull the plug before it gets even worse.
Well said. Please email this to Dolson!

Anybody think Dan Hurley would be a possibility? I know we would have to load up the truck but money talks, right?
-
I'm not sure Ware is ready to go pro. So if he and Malik return next season, is there room for Queen? Would he come here to potentially come off the bench? Maybe this is why he is delaying his decision, to get more insight on what our roster will look like next year. No inside info here, just my thoughts.

I’m also shocked. I don’t see any downside in bringing a good guy who works hard and maybe by chance could pop and become something IF they’re only taking that scholly this year. Who knows maybe they couldn’t find one that fits that mold. What do I know? Wife says “not a lot.”
Exactly! I see zero downside. I wonder if he is saving it for a possible 2024 recruit to start classes next semester or something like that.

So is it official....is our roster set? I'm super surprised we didn't use that last scholly, especially with the addition of the 2 quality walk ons we recently added. It's like Woody is saving it for someone but are we looking at anyone at this point at all?

Anyone know if we have reached out to Quinerly? I think he could really flourish under Woodson.

Dingle to St. John's per Slater
Dangit there goes Pitino already hurting us in recruiting again the minute he gets another high major job. Shocking. We might not have gotten Dingle anyway but he is def another recruiting threat until he retires or gets in trouble again!

So, after Mgbako commits, do we bank a scholly or grab a guard? Asking for a friend.
Def grab a guard. We desperately need a shooter IMO. Or a combo guard who can create, run the point if necessary and be respectable from 3. Another impact player if we want to be a very good team as opposed to just a probable tourney team next year

This would be HUGE. I'm tired of being second choice with these high profile recruits. Hopefully that trend ends NOW!

This season has very quickly gone completely off the rails… Woodson better start coaching real fast.
He doesn't know how. Never coached a college game before coming here. Did people really expect anything different? Our program is just sad right now. And has been for wayyyy too long

Has there been any word on the extent of XJ's injury?

Any word on X's injury?

If TJD comes back and Dennis commits then I'm pretty certain it will be Leal or Kopp that leaves. I love Leal's passion for Indiana basketball but I just don't see him getting many minutes and would probably be better served to play elsewhere where he can get more playing time and develop.
-
Any word on a visit date or if he is still planning a visit?
-
I've seen enough to know that he would undoubtedly be an upgrade to Kopp if he leaves.
