  1. Surprised they aren’t looking at Josh Scherz. He would fit their program perfectly IMO.
  2. Ryan Conwell 6-6 from 3 against Minnesota right now. Still lot of time left and he’s got 23 and 5 assists. #ATopPriority
  3. I’m sorry I was too busy laughing at the gif? Say what? Crean, not known for his humor, even admits this was funny.
  4. Some buzz Adam Howard will go to Michigan in some capacity. He took IU off his Twitter handle. He has a big role with Grow the Game, which I believe helps managers interested in coaching. Dusty May has advised that group. Connecting the dots.
  5. Michigan, not a job you can turn down. That’s a destination job and has a ton of pluses. I’d take it over Louisville every day of the week. I like Dusty a lot and will pull for him except vs IU of course. As a coach, can’t say I watch all his games but I did see them beat Arizona and really liked his offense. Personally I think he needs some help from his staff with the D. The nice thing is Michigan will give him a chance and he has the potential to recruit there. Like to see IU guys do well.
  6. That’s good stat. Way better than us.
  7. I meant Utah State but yeah Gonzaga too
  8. I have never been a huge Few guy. Fine coach. Racks up wins in a safe environment but doesn’t show much when the going gets tough. The guy who I like is Tommy Lloyd his ex assistant. He got a $6 M deal at Arizona which has been far better than us for 20 years but the passion and exposure is bigger here but for our ineptitude and dysfunction. But man I’d make a run at him with $10M and not bleep around to say IU is serious. He’d be a great match here. He’s got an urgency and passion that we have lacked but he also has the roster construction and strategic skills.
  9. I really like Nabors. You never know, he could surpass Harrison. Harrison has that radius and ability in close quarters but this kid is really electric. Very sudden. LT could also be interesting to have stud bookends for Williams. Bears are in a very good spot. Their future looks excellent. You get some of these tough spots filled and then over time you stack the defense. Next 2-3 drafts after this year with a heavy emphasis on D and this team can take off.
  10. Honestly. I am VERY optimistic on the offense. We might have a question at backup OL and QB but for the most part I think we could get back to an offense worthy of Kevin Wilson. If I were CCC and Haines, DT would keep me up at night. Those guys are hard to find so hopefully some guys pop in the spring portal. I think our ends should be ok and our back 7 solid.
  11. You’re not wrong that it is a likely scenario. And they could win it all. I don’t think Houston or UConn are as good. Having said that, while IU fans may be terrified, Duke has survived when UNC wins it all and vice-versa. OSU football has gone into urgency mode with UM winning it all and on a roll with recruiting. If Purdue wins it all, the golf clap can mentality will end. Pam Whitten, QB, the Simons and company will be startled by the urgency, if not rage, from the fan base. It will rise to defcon 5 if Purdue wins it all. It might be good for IU to wake up the admin at IU and all their politics and dysfunction.
  12. You never know where people’s heads would be at in a year. They may not even know.
  13. Yeah. I was noticing that too. Personally it’s not my favorite way to play. I don’t like a ton of points in football either. It just feels like it devalues each individual point and the defense. I know most people disagree with me. I’m fine with CBB with a score in the 70s and a 24-21 NFL game instead of 40-33. But I just really enjoy defense in all sports. I like the feeling that a bucket against a tough D means or a TD against a stiff defense. I don’t want the other extreme either, the classic 55-52 basketball game or 13-10 NFL game. Balance.
  14. Agree. I was thinking this a month or two ago that we were probably a step slow at most positions. Leads to having a slower team overall in terms of team quickness. Probably a function of emphasizing size. I think team quickness is a big area of need for us. I think it was a big reason why our defense was so bad.
  15. I’ve followed him a bit since there were rumors about our interest last year. From what I’ve read, he is a bit of a head case. He was solid in ‘23 and then fell off in ‘24. Left the team at one point. Can’t meet his commitments for NIL either. I don’t know enough but you’d have to do big time due diligence before bringing him into your lockerroom. He’s got a diva reputation that would make an NFL receiver blush. edited to add a quick link https://www.swtimes.com/story/sports/college/sec/2024/01/27/arkansas-basketballs-davonte-davis-steps-away-from-the-program/72382677007/#
  16. Exactly. Terrible defender. We can do better. Yes, we need a shooter with size but we can’t compromise on D. As bad as the complaints about shooting have been, we were just as bad defensively. We need good perimeter defenders.
  17. Can’t wait to see him play! Excited to see that motor and defense. Pulling for him on his health. I think he’s got an edge to his game that everyone will love.
  18. One scenario is he lands a good ‘25 recruiting class and gets us back in the tourney and then he walks away on his own, thinking he put us in a good position for a handoff to the next coach. He will be going on 68 and just may not want to put the work in plus he can say that he did what he set out to do, which is get us on the right track. That’s what could be his thought process.
  19. I wonder how the Christ centered program ties in with threatening a recruit with deportation if he wouldn’t go to Baylor?
  20. Good point on Cupps. In 716 minutes, he had 41 assists, 82 points, and 8 free throws. I would redshirt him and not throw him to the wolves again. If you bring in another pg and he gets hurt like XJ did, you can’t put yourself in a position to rely on Cupps for heavy minutes. I like his potential but it would not be realistic for him to go from that many empty minutes to suddenly becoming a high level pg. We saw with guys like Gunn what happens when you rely on the unproven. I would focus on developing him and weaning him into a role.
  21. I think this is right. I might emphasize one rim protector and one stretch four and then agree with you on wings and guards. Frankie Fidler is really impressive. Leffew with Fidler would be even better. Need a high end point guard. Ryan Nemhardt from Gonzaga would be amazing but he may not go portaling. Maybe Gillespie from Belmont as a PG. I also like Ryan Conwell from ISU if he declares. Good all around player, including rebounding from the guard position. Fidler, Leffew, Conwell and Gillespie would be a heck of an improvement. But who knows if we can get traction with them. I would not step off the gas. Get as many as we can get. Look at what Cignetti did. We somehow have 7 rb and a ton of receivers and it didn’t scare anyone away.
  22. lol wasn’t that Will Ferrell in his ABA movie?
  23. Agree. I remember when everyone was done with Crean I pointed out his ability to identify lower-rated talent and project it to this level. Guys like Anunoby. My point was the same as yours, that things are not so black and white. But I got shot down by others who just didn’t want to hear it because people lost confidence in him. You see that now with Woody and things like player development. Some don’t want to give him any credit for TJD (even when TJD himself does) or Galloway as an initiator etc. But, I would say that this is hardly anything particular to IU fans and it is part of human nature. In the “real world” I have seen the same concept repeatedly. Once an employer loses confidence in an employee, it’s like they can’t do anything right or need severe micromanagement. While I agree that once someone is struggling, that doesn’t mean every single thing is terrible. But human nature is that once people lose confidence in you, and especially after you alienate a huge chunk of the constituents, as happened here, it’s a huge upset to regain trust and confidence. It’s not an IU thing, it’s human.
