Oregon’s midnight madness set a record attendance this year??

I don’t think the current model is sustainable…I suspect it will change in the not so distant future. But that’s a topic for another thread.

If we land Carlyle I don’t see many minutes left after adding Rice. You need minutes for the incoming freshman Tucker, Galloway and Mgbako who both played major minutes, and Cupps won’t sit back and give his away. Probably looking at one more guard that would play 8-10 a game likely.

Prefer either a stretch 4 or athletic 5…don’t need another bruiser or post up big. Just an energy guy or someone who can play at the 4 but step outside and knock down a shot.

Could have used him for 5 fouls against Edey last year.

I think if the Carlyle kid commits then him or a player like Blackman is about as good as you can expect given playing time to offer but us being able to offset that with likely a bigger NIL paycheck.

They would not had been a final four team without Jones though. He was a big part of their team this year and was big in hiding the other two guards defensively and really spaced the floor well for them with his shooting. It is what it is and I liked it better the old way…recruiting and watching a kid grow 4 years and enjoying watching them take those steps but the NCAA gave us this crap.

I think we’ve all seen how conferences can manipulate the analytics with their scheduling. I’ll leave it at that because I think Rice is a huge upgrade over XJ…this is a good first step.

That was 3 coaches ago….but yeah…that’s a long time….and we’ve had only one top 5 finish since then. For the kids we are recruiting they were like 10 years old. In general it’s been 8 years since a B1G title. Never won a B1G tourney and over 20years since a title game and over 30 since a championship. For a school that’s suppose to be known for its bball that’s not pretty.

I’m not trying to say analytics don’t matter but when you aren’t playing a similar schedule or opponents…well it’s not apples to apples. We played a much superior schedule. It ranked 29th vs 77th for Washington St. anyway my point is he will need to step up to both the offensive and defensive side of the ball coming to the B1G. I’m sure he can do it…but we all know the style of basketball from West coast to B1G is night and day.

They had 4 teams in the tournament. One made it in the play in…and one made it with an automatic bid who had no business in the tournament. As bad as the B1G was last year the PAC12 is just a bad conference and playing in a league like that will warp your numbers. Some things you can use the eye test and see…the PAC12 and defense doesn’t go hand in hand.

Agreed. My biggest worry is his defense. PAC12 defense is like a 4 letter word.

That’s good. I have a 5 year old little girl so I clearly have much much more important things so I hear you. I just think it’s more fun when you can congratulate your friends and family and their success doesnt bother you because you are having just as much success as them. Hopefully soon we both can celebrate because we both are winning championships. Rivalries are best when both teams win imo. Until then…have fun with your family and friends…life is too short not to smile and enjoy it! Sounds like you’ve figured that out.

Aren’t they all new guys? I mean he has only coached a couple that came over with him.

You’d think he would hit one just by accident…I mean it takes talent to miss that many in a row. Anyone checked to see if he had a draft kings app on his phone??

I’ll be happy to play the banner card again after we win one in this century. Until then I’m not throwing shade at anyone. We are a sorry program that hasn’t won anything in a very very long time. No B1G titles, No final fours, and no NCs.

His shot isn’t broken. He has good form and seems to be able to play fast while still under control. I think shot selection and confidence can improve and with repetition no reason he can be 34-36% with the work. I think this is a good get and he and Cupps can share time or even play together if needed.

I mean it’s huge for someone…but until they show interest in IU it seems a moot point.

I already posted his comp.(Marjanovic) I mean Yuo Ming would be probably closest to him in the past and he played in an entirely different NBA. No doubt he will be in the league. Will play some…but he isn’t a viable option…he will get torched at the defensive end….and despite Mike Woodsons opinion…the game isn’t played inside out in the nba. He will have a spot im not disputing that…but he isn’t going to be a starter and he will get exposed. There are plenty of bigs like Jokic and Embiid but they are much more mobile and can play away from the basket. Plus every team could throw a 7 footer at him….his size won’t be nearly an advantage (almost all have a big like him that he won’t be able to push around…check the rosters). With the widened lanes…he won’t be able to camp underneath…just the whole game is different….now if he learns to face up and play…and is able to work on his agility and improve there…sure than…but I’ve never seen someone make the leap he would have to.

Won’t be the first or last…but I watch enough NBA basketball to see how he doesn’t fit. The game is played with even more space than college. Sure I can see him making a team and being a guy on the end of the bench getting a few minutes here and there but ever being a starter? No. So why would you invest a first rd pick in a player you can’t start? Again…I might be wrong but if I’m him I go back to school…take the guaranteed huge NIL money and try one more time for a championship. Nothing will change from this year to next. He will still be 7’4…still won’t be a fit for the nba game and his career won’t be any different.

lol…I’ll tell you this…plenty of men that made their money in more seedy and unethical ways have turned their life to Christ and God has used their money in wonderful ways. Orphanages in Africa. Women shelters in S America…while I don’t anticipate him giving me money through the lottery I’m very sure he could “clean” it up just fine. I know for sure he would make better use of it than our govt does so I say good luck man!
