That same article shows exactly why you don’t build in free agency. Grigson made huge swings and effectively ended Lucks career. The Sneed deal was good to pass on. We aren’t a corner away….let the Titans make that mistake. They make huge splash in free agency and are still the worst team in the division. Also Ballard made a big swing by trading a first to SF, making moves for Wentz and Ryan…he has taken big swings. It’s a silly article…and pointless because Ballard isn’t going anywhere right now.

I think you have to trust your ability to cultivate your own. You keep passing over your own recruits by bringing in outside players you will lose them.

Until he he sees he won’t get drafted and how much money he will pass up. It’s a business decision to leave…and will be a business decision to stay. Nothing will change draft wise by staying another year. He will just miss out on a pay day if he goes.

Irsay doesn’t like to change coaches or GMs. He values continuity. Ballard is no where close to the hot seat…so he has plenty of time. Good or bad it’s just how it is. Ballard builds through the draft. It just is who he is. He trusts his ability (correct or not) to identify talent in the draft. I’d be shocked if we don’t take a corner with our first pick. There should be a couple elite ones sitting there. He will get a safety in the draft as well later on and then supplement in free agency after the $$ drops. There are a ton of veteran safeties available and even some interesting corners that could move over to the roll.

Ballards interest was just pushing up the price tag for Titans.

Hopefully Auburn is #2 on his list so if Pearl replaces Woody we don’t lose any ground. 😉

Ughh..he was literally twice as bad this year as last year…and I didn’t want him last year. Does Woody’s staff just looks at measurables or do they even care if a kid is a winning player.

I don’t believe it. If they don’t win it all I could easily see him coming back for more guaranteed NIL money. He will never make as much in the nba on two way contracts as what he can make at Purdue.
