  1. This is IU basketball. I'm surprised we're not nitpicking what the coaches are wearing to visits.
  2. UI had typically spent more than us in the B10, and under Teflon John, UK's dwarfed everyone in the country. Part of it is if you look at the geography of B-town and Champaign, they're really in the middle of nowhere. The only real recruiting area that's close to B-town is Indy. Louisville is 2 hours, Cincinnati is 2.5 by map time (although you can get to the west side in 2 hrs 10 minutes...don't ask me how I know). And once you're off the interstates....y'all know as well as I do that all bets are off. You run the risk of getting stuck behind Farmer Bob or Granny McBluehair for 10-15 minutes until you can get past them. If it's a choice of driving 4 hours or flying 90 minutes, it's a question of productivity. 8 hours of driving is a lost day aside from whatever event I'm going to. 3 hours of flight time is 3 hours I could be doing something else on my way to whatever event, in addition to getting 5 hours back.
  3. Correct. Rice is the true point, Carlyle is a combo. Probably better off the ball, but is capable of both.
  4. Go up to Calgary or Saskatchewan….there is the phenomenon known as the Canadian hillbilly.
  5. Winning is what makes games enjoyable. I heard Purdue’s play last year described as “boring” because all they would do is pound the ball into Edey. Yeah…but they won. I’d rather be boring and victorious than an entertaining loser.
  6. Never underestimate the pettiness of an intoxicated redneck with a supposed “cause”.
  7. Even the IU-Purdue animosity can be overcome if it’s…*ahem* what’s best for business.
  8. Can’t recall one off the top of my head, but we’ve seen Alabama-Auburn and OSU-Michigan transfers this offseason.
  9. We’ve seen OSU-Michigan and Alabama-Auburn transfers this offseason.
  10. Or, even 2-3 years. Reneau and MM could have easily bolted, but just playing multiple seasons, they’ll be remembered.
  11. Having watched more Purdue this past season than I ever have in my life, I came to like Gillis as a player. Wouldn’t have complained if he transferred here.
  12. Senor Glock needs to take a Photoshop class. His eyes and expression look like me two days after I ate that entire five pound wheel of swiss cheese.
  13. I'll disagree with one thing he said: Well, maybe it was just me and DeBoer, but from the 2nd or 3rd game Penix was on the field, I kept saying to myself "This kid isn't just good....this is Heisman good". Turns out in the end, I wasn't far off. Hated to lose him, but I realized it was a Mo Creek type situation.....just so many injuries over time and needed a change of scenery.
  14. The thing is.....it's really, really hard to lose such status completely. The Vanderbilt family is still the freaking Vanderbilt family even though they may not be as top of mind for most people as they were 100 years ago. If someone wanted to say we weren't one of the top programs over the last 20 years....no problem. That's defendable. But we've had 5 national championships in 4 different decades. That's a run of success over time that can't be taken away. Compare that with a program like San Francisco, which may have won back to back championships, but haven't done anything in 50 years since.
  15. Filthy disgusting inbreds though they may be, UK is a college basketball blue blood regardless of who is coaching. To really achieve "blue blood" status means you've achieved a level of success that even being "down" for over a decade doesn't take away the luster or the inherent potential of the program. Bama football is the perfect example. They went from 1992 to 2010 without a national championship and won only 5 bowl games in that span. But, get the right coach in place and you're reestablished. To me, there's 7: UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, Duke, Indiana, Kansas. Villanova is right on the cusp, and Louisville could be depending on how you feel about vacated titles. The 2nd tier down has Michigan State, Syracuse, Arizona, Michigan, etc etc. Prominent programs, but haven't quite hit Valhalla just yet. And yes....UConn is definitely the "new money" blue blood compared to the "old money" traditional programs. But when you have more national titles than Kansas, Indiana and Duke.....you're in the club without question.
  16. Ugh....Eric Gregg and the Livan Hernandez game. I'm a Mets fan, and even I will say the Braves got robbed in that one. His strike zone was so wide that day that he could have fit through it.
  17. That's what I like with the way this roster has turned out. We can go really, really big with Ballo, Reneau, MM, Goode/Galloway and Carlyle, where the shortest guy on the floor is 6'3". We can also go really, really fast with Reneau, MM, Tucker/Goode, Carlyle and Rice. And there's countless combinations in between.
  18. We can play the back and forth all you want. I'll throw up something and you'll hit it back with something that is clearly just designed to be anti-Woodson.
