  1. Totally unrelated comment, but what are the odds that a kid named Collinsworth commits to Cincinnati and isn’t related to Cris.
  2. I’ll mourn the firing of Scott Frost on the level that I mourned the firing of Danny Hope.
  3. Was coach a legit 6’5”? I know that’s what he was listed at but you know how those things work. That and in some of those old photos of him, he had that biiiiiig Afro going, which if you counted that, he was pushing 7’ 🤣
  4. I’m not big into social media at all, but Cameo is $&@!ing awesome. Also…..A-J-MOY-AY *clap clap clapclapclap*
  5. Coach had his share of late nights in Bloomington running suicides and other activities that likely ended with him sucking wind and/or puking his guts out. In his mind, if he could get through that, he can surely put in some late hours behind a desk or watching film.
  6. Thanks! The builder only put a small bit of concrete at the base of the stairs and outside the door. We had the entire area under the deck poured and the retaining wall built. Some of the only stuff I haven’t done myself…lol. Actually, I have two gallons of concrete paint awaiting use. And thought about a TV, but to be honest, it’d never get turned on. The last time I turned a TV on was to watch the 500, and I think the time before that was the Super Bowl. 99% of the time a TV is on anywhere in our house, it’s likely the kids playing video games.
  7. Grass is getting there. Still extremely patchy, hence the seed mats. Nothing of what you see yard wise was there in March. The builders landscaping was crap and half dead, and only in the front. Maybe 10% of the yard was grass. Built the small retaining wall, added the lighting, dug in all the beds in the back of the house, used enough mulch to equal a small African nations GDP. I’ve got a bunch of sprinklers running on two 2 zone timers. Thinking about biting the bullet and doing an irrigation system next year, especially since I already have the 1/2” hose and fittings.
  8. 1. My high school’s mascot is used by exactly two academic institutions in the country. The other is Southern Illinois University Carbondale. 2. We used to be in the same conference as the only Illinois school to compete in IHSAA. What’s my high school?
  9. It’s “coin flip” investing. The only thing you know is that the value is going to change. It’s just sheer guessing whether it’s up or down. I lucked out. Several years ago, I bought one Bitcoin just to start playing around with it, and lost interest and forgot about it. The time was around May of 2013, and the total cost….about $100. Forgot I even had it until the bull run of late 2017. Yeah, you do the math. I cashed out about 40% of it then, but I use the rest to “nibble” the market. I’ll sell $500, buy that amount when the market dips, and sell it back when it’s up about 0.75-1% from the original point after fees. I’m not getting rich by any means, but it’s 95% automated, and I’m playing with house money anyway.
  10. I’m going to guess that half of the individuals involved in the fisticuffs couldn’t spell “t-ball” if you spotted them the “-ball”.
  11. Crypto almost rhymes with “schitzo” for a reason.
  12. In case anyone is under the impression that I actually know what I’m talking about, A) I’d like a hit/dose of whatever you’re taking, and B) KMPH finished down a point and a half today. BUT….it’s still up over 20% in the past week, and today, the CEO decides to purchase 1500 shares at more or less market value ($14 and change). Can’t help but take that as a cautiously optimistic sign. If you’re reading this Monday evening, keep an eye on UONE at open Tuesday morning.
  13. In my house, peanut butter. With two living food disposal systems (aka male children), it’s a requirement. Plus, I’ve also started making my own protein bars. For me personally, either powdered Gatorade or Propel. I kicked all caffeine about a year ago. Have a 46 oz Yeti thermos that I drain at least twice a day.
  14. Good type of busy. Got a promotion at work, plus moved into a new house in December. January-March was filled with unpacking crap, replacing lights, installing fans, installing shelves and other organizational stuff, assembling furniture, reinstalling all my network and home automation, etc etc. And just when all of that is settled, it’s time for the outside stuff. Sanding and staining a previously unfinished deck, installing about 150’ of French drains, installing an exterior lighting system, leveling, tilling and seeding a yard (that the builder decided to seed and straw in November 🙄), landscaping, building a low wall around a planting bed and supervising a concrete contractor doing a driveway and patio extension. Oh, almost forgot about the 3 days I spent on designing a shock absorption system for a 2nd floor laundry room. Tip: if you’re ever building or renovating a house with a 2nd floor laundry and plan on having a front load washer, reinforce the floors like they’ll be supporting a division of Abrams tanks. Front load washers generate enough force to cause vibrations that will shake hanging light fixtures on the floor below. Since ripping up a brand new floor wasn’t an option, I built my own custom vibration damping system: a platform that extended out 2” on any side of the footprint the washer and dryer take up. From the bottom up: 1/8” rubber gasket material against the existing flooring, followed by 3/4” sub flooring, followed by 3/16 high density fiberboard, followed by vinyl flooring to match. The width of the platform spreads the force over a larger area, with the rubber absorbing some of the vibrations before they pass through the floor. The HDF prevents the feet of the washer from sinking in to the subfloor over time. Next up will be more drainage to connect the end of my drains with the local storm sewer, Funny you mention tablets. Strange quirk about me (one of many). I refuse to own a tablet. Why? Because it can’t completely replace either my laptop or my phone, so it’s just another device to lug around.
  15. He stayed with Izzo for several years. I think now that he’s back home, he’ll have some patience. Not infinite patience, but a decent degree. And like has been said, Woodson has some years and some miles on him. Still has several good years in front of him, but he’s not a spring chicken either.
  16. If he has any measure of success (which I believe he will), I can see Woodson moving in to the Matta role eventually. The Consigliere to the Don, so to speak. Providing guidance and another pair of eyes, but without the day to day physical and mental strain.
  17. Damn, called that one. 10% in a day is good, right?
  18. I’ll have to snap some pics tomorrow, but I never appreciated how hard it is to grow grass. And no, not kind. We moved into a new house in December, and the builder had the great idea to seed/straw the yard in friggin November. And our lot has a pretty good slope to it. Yep, you can imagine how that turned out. So far this spring, I’ve installed downspouts on all the gutters that make their way into about 150’ of French drains, brought in 30 cubic yards of fill dirt to go halfway level things out, tilled the entire yard and put down new seed. Oh and at the wife’s behest, planted a bunch of flowers and $&!&. Because apparently that stuff is important. 🤣
  19. COVID can live for up to 3 days on plastic or stainless steel surfaces, and there’s generally no shortage of either on a cruise ship. Edit: in terms of vaccine efficacy, I was fully expecting the COVID vaccines to be about as effective as a below average year for flu vaccines: 70% ish. But, the vaccine also lowers the severity of the symptoms.
  20. RIP If you run in to CC and Mile in the heavenly equivalent to Nick’s, tell them we said hello.
  21. F22’s inlet ducts are more horizontal has and a slightly taller, narrower canopy. F35’s inlet ducts are more vertically oriented.
