Cleared is only in the legal sense.  His intent was to commit the crime. He just didn’t have anything worth paying for, so he got lucky.  That’s not functioning in the grey area or exploiting a loophole.  He wanted to cross the line.

I am not saying I’m against him because I want to hear what Woody says about it.  Woody is the one taking the risk, not any of us.  We don’t know what Yasir is saying now.  Maybe he’s been humbled and changed.  Perhaps he has shown that he is worthy of a second chance.  None of us can judge that today.  And who knows what kind of coaching and recruiting he will bring?  There must be something there that Woody thinks would fill a need such that Woody is willing to take a big chance.

But pretending he didn’t veer from the grey area into outright corruption is just the opposite extreme of thinking he absolutely shouldn’t be considered.     Imagine if he gets caught holding illicit cash in the future.  I wouldn’t want my name attached to blindly supporting that.

I can't disagree with those facts, but literally everyone is playing in the corruption/grey area, and they're winning championships every year in basketball and football.  For god's sake, Scott Drew just won a title coaching in Waco.  You have to play this game to roll with the big dogs.  Duke bball and Bama football don't give a rat's behind about the NCAAs nonsense.  They work the system as much as possible, win title after title and become legendary programs/coaches.  The holier than thou routine of our fan base is comical and so out of touch with modern athletics.

Also, I would hope Yasir is going to be extra careful after being named in the FBI probe.  I could be 100% wrong and will have egg on my face, but I highly doubt Woodson brings on a liability.  Yasir seems to be a great guy to have on board when NIL explodes.  After listening to him I think he has a great grasp on how to successfully build your "brand".  Trust me, I hate saying brand but that's where this train is headed.

In his last year at Alabama, our esteemed shooting Yoda had his team shooting a a 46% clip from the floor, 32% from 3 and 67% from  the stripe.  Look, I don't care who CMW hires to be the 3rd assistant.  I will not lose a minute of sleep over it.  I just don't understand A) Why we take a risk when it isn't necessary to do so. and B) Why people are selling a bill of goods about the guy that has zero evidence to back it up.

Your posts would say that you care about it.  Again, how about we just give this guy a chance before sh1tting all over the hire.

In 58 college games Yasir shot 36.8 from the field, 37% from 3 and 51.4% from the stripe.  Can someone explain to me how that makes him a shooting mechanics expert?  Seems like some folks are really working the mental gymnastics to try and make this hire more palletable.

How about we just give this guy a chance.

UPDATE - I asked each of the starting 5 separately an none had heard of Woodson.  The best one who is a D1 recruit said, "Coach, I would be lucky to name 10 current head coaches in the NBA."  So, I'm not saying this as a knock on Woodson as they also wouldn't be able to tell me who the coach for Arkansas or Alabama is.  I'm just saying I disagree that recruits are going to know who Woodson is unless they grew up in Indiana and their parents were big fans.  Actually maybe their grandparents.  I'm 47 and don't remember Woodson.

Not surprised kids don't pay attention to the coaches in the NBA, its all about the players.  Put together a good staff, start winning, and they will come to Bloomington.

Just seems to me like IU has a history of panic hires.  Meaning they seem to zero in on one candidate each time and when he says no they panic and make a bad hire out the blue.

In 2006 Beilein was the choice but Herbert blew that up so they went out and hired a guy with NCAA sanctions hanging over him. In 2008 they wanted Bennett and when they couldn't get him they went out a and hired a carnival barker.  In 2017 they went all in on Donovan and when he said no they made another risky hire of a guy they knew wouldn't say no.  This time it was all in on Stevens and apparently they didn't even reach out to Beard, Drew, Oats, or Musselman.  Just makes no sense.  Maybe it's a fear of rejection.  I don't know but our administration does not know how to hire.

First off, I've come around to this hire and think he will do all right.  It seems to me like this was orchestrated by the big money.  They wanted Stevens and if that didn't happen they wanted an IU guy.  I think Dolson got put between a rock and a hard place and was steered to hire Woody once Stevens said no.  Dolson recognized the issues with the hire and got Matta involved to help steer the ship and prevent this from being a suez type disaster.  Not the best scenario, but with the right guys around Woody this just might work.  So I don't think it was fear of rejection, but more you need to hire option B if A doesn't pan out.

  6. Surprised we haven't heard any news on this front yet. This staff needs to be world class.  Anyone hearing anything outside of Larry Brown?  Keeping previous staff members to appease current players is not forward thinking.  I feel bad for those guys, but we can't screw this up again.  Maybe its just me wanting to purge all things associated with Archie.

I don’t know what might have happened in the past but Jay Williams likes taking shots at IU. Even when Crean had good teams Williams had a way of making some jabs.

I hope I’m correct in my assumption that WWW doesn’t get within 20 area codes of Bloomington. Would be a really bad look.

I know what happened in the past, IU ended his college career in 2002.  As others have said his wife and in laws are IU grads so i think its more of a joke at this point.
