  1. Woodson's pitch: "Come to Indiana. Let's prove you should have been the top ranked player in the country."
  2. Miller Kopp signs contract to play professionally in France. Good for him. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/miller-kopp-signs-deal-to-play-professional-basketball-in-france/
  3. CBS: "It's not clear what the future holds for the Pac-12 with just four remaining members." Hahaha, someone already launched pac-4.com. "Easy travel schedule."
  4. Rivals says Harper might decide within 2 weeks or so. Mid-August, or a bit later. Their pick is still Rutgers (over Indiana and Duke), IF Rutgers has enough NIL money. Rivals says that's important. I'd love it if Indiana just tripled whatever was being discussed, and signed him. That news would race through the recruiting world and open a lot of doors. It is our chance to set the market rate, and make everyone else react to us for a while.
  5. What Mackenzie Mgbako’s IU basketball teammates have said about him this summer. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/what-mackenzie-mgbakos-iu-basketball-teammates-have-said-about-him-this-summer/
  6. A large reason the NIL passed is because the previous system was biased specifically against athletes. If a student is an art or music major on scholarship, they are not only allowed, but encouraged to make money on their skills. Release songs. Have a gallery opening. No impact on scholarship. Sell a painting for $50,000? Yay! Business majors are likewise encouraged to engage, for money, in their future profession. Get an accounting internship. Launch a startup company and make $5 million? Congrats! The university will brag about it. Scholarships will not be impacted. Medical students are required to hone their future profession for pay. They can't become a full doctor otherwise. Universities have systems for placement. They help them make money early. A journalism student can write a book or start a sports website for pay. Good job. No backlash at all. Only thumbs-up from the universities, and silence from these politicians. This inequity against athletes was one of the major factors that helped them win the lawsuit. The NCAA had no defense against it. And, of course, all of the above students can transfer at any time, with no penalty. If they get a better academic scholarship offered from somewhere else, they are free to take it. Nothing has changed. That devastating argument against the NCAA's stranglehold on money and power is still there, waiting. Gabe Cupps has 358,000 Instagram followers. How much money he makes from that is no one's business but his. I hope these new calls for restrictive and illegal controls gets annihilated in court. ______ Edit: if my feelings on this topic aren't clear, I can always write something longer and more passionate. 🙂
  7. TheDailyHoosier on the October dual visit coming up: "I asked Liam McNeeley in January why he and Derik Queen took their official visits (to Indiana) together a year ago and he said "Derik is one of my best friends." They'll do it again in six weeks."
  8. A bunch of us have a secret thread where we discuss politics.
  9. Derik Queen and Montverde teammate Liam McNeeley will take their Indiana officials on the same weekend. Sept. 8-10. They also took their junior year Indiana visits together, hosted by former Montverde players Jalen Hood-Schifino and Malik Reneau. This is certainly positive for Indiana. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-2024-5-star-center-derik-queen-will-take-indiana-senior-year-official/
  10. Choose wisely! (Edit: this was fun to make. I hope it ends up on his Twitter account.)
  11. This is exactly what you referred to, Fouls.
  12. He'll always be part of the Tennessee family.
  13. I gave you a "like" for Ameliorating. Words like that just class up the joint.
  14. Thanks for posting, Reacher! 6'8" point forward who loves defense. #2 recruit in his class. "He's a one-of-a-kind, generational prospect, and given the ties that can be made between him and Indiana, along with Woodson's spectacular ability as a recruiter, it's not the craziest proposition that Flagg will be wearing Crimson and Cream in a couple of years."
  15. If we get a recruit on campus, we have as good a chance as anyone. This staff has earned our confidence. Anyway, here's the east coast spin on Dylan and Rutgers: https://www.nj.com/rutgersbasketball/2023/07/at-nike-peach-jam-rutgers-remains-laser-focused-on-no-1-target-dylan-harper.html
  16. A Maryland site had this to say: "Maryland still leads for five-star Derik Queen, with Indiana and its massive NIL money still looking like the biggest threat. But no one has expressed much concern about that." Maybe Maryland does lead, maybe they don't. But NIL money is not the only reason he would come here.
  17. National top-10 class of 2024 prospect Liam McNeeley will take another visit to Indiana this fall. 6-foot-7 wing ranked No. 8 nationally in the 2024 class. As most already know, he plays for Montverde in Florida, same school as JHS. Shown here with fellow Montverde recruit Derik Queen. Some say Texas leads, but with our coaching staff, I like our chances with both players. (Just my opinion. I am not an insider.)
  18. JHS just keeps representing himself and Indiana so well. What a terrific person as well as a player. He told ESPN Woodson and his staff “kept their word by having the ultimate trust in me as a freshman.” Pay attention, recruits! https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/it-was-a-great-experience-iu-basketball-delivered-for-jalen-hood-schifino/
  19. Bidunga is destroying everyone in the Top 100 camp this week, per Rivals: "One of the top four players in the 2024 class, and the No. 1 center, Flory Bidunga was the most dominant player we watched on Thursday. He made all eight of his shot attempts – most of them thunderous dunks – on the way to 17 points, and grabbed nine rebounds. A very active 6-foot-10, 230-pounder, Bidunga was impressive defensively. On the perimeter he was comfortable switching on screens to guard a smaller player and in the paint his presence is respected by drivers. Bidunga has nine blocks in four games. He seems to challenge just about everything."
  20. In this week's Top100 camp (high level competition), Queen made 21-of-24 shots and posted game-highs in points (25 and 22) and rebounds. He was unstoppable in the paint. Indiana and Maryland likely lead. Not sure if there is a favorite, or if others are involved more than is known. Queen's former lead recruiter at Maryland left that school for George Mason. Maybe that will help us, or not. Listed at 6'9" 250. Ranked Top 20 in the nation, and the #2 center by Rivals. Edit: I am not an insider. I'm just posting stuff I've read on multiple sites.
