Probably just me, but every time I see your name under the Indy 500 thread I think of Parnelli.
Before my time, but I'll take it.

Looks like a wet week in Indy with a reduced amount of practice time. Dixon up over 229 in what little running they got in this morning. The fact he only has the one win in 2008 blows my mind. He should have won in 20 and 22, maybe even 21.

This tornado went pretty much right over my house before touching down less than a half mile further down the road. Not hearing about any significant damage.

Edit. Not my video if you are wondering. The Fouls family was hunkered down in basement.
Glad you are okay. We had a warning in our area, but nothing happened that I know of. Sounds like we are in for round two tonight.

We missed out on the second Watford, maybe get the second Mgbako.

This year will be in person race #30 for me. I’m planning on going to the Saturday of qualifying too, unless Little Keet has a sports conflict.
I love where I live here in the southern part of the state, but I wish I could be around Indy more in May to experience the buzz in the city and being around folks who know what is going on. I get all that for the Derby where I live, but I wish I got some of that for the 500 down here.

Let’s end this thing.

I was half asleep when I started the thread last night. Here is a link to what TBT is. For those of you new to it, Google the Elam Ending.

There is finally going to be an IU alumni team in TBT this year. The first three guys to commit to play are Troy Williams, Juwan Morgan, and Miller Kopp. Assembly Ball, great name, will be playing in Hinkle in July. I’m curious to see who else they add.

Is this the year we win at Kohl?

That’s just about the best start the Pacers could have hoped for.

Giannis and Lillard are both out tonight. Milwaukee will come out with a ton of emotion to start the game. Let’s bare minimum keep this close at the half and wear them down in the 2nd.

Let’s stop after this one and not get a Harrington.

Terrible start.

Gotta put your foot on their neck. If we can wrap this up maybe the Philly/NY series can get extended.
I think tonight is basically a must win for the Pacers. They can’t let Milwaukee get home court advantage back and feel like they survived the injuries. As for the NY/Philly series, I was pulling for Philly to tie it today. If they somehow pull that series out and the Pacers advance, we would have home court advantage in the next round.

Lillard is out tonight.

Very fair for sure and for the most part I agree....although until the NIL is figured out would you rather spend resources on a proven 2-3 year vet or a top 30 kid out of high school? I know the blend is what I want but not sure what's possible anymore.
As long as we are striving for the blend and not falling into the portal or bust trap, I can live with the results. That’s why the guy I am the most excited about coming in is the true freshman who’s name escapes me now. We need the Wares and Rices, that’s modern college basketball. I still believe we need the Sisleys and Mullins too, the 3-4 year guys you build culture and stability with.

I didn't want to post this in any of the other threads so I'll throw it here. First...I absolutely don't like the current NIL model and what college sports has become recruiting wise. Secondly...I'd prefer for us to not have to do an offseason like this one again if we can. I mean I know we'll always be adding 1-2 portal guys but hopefully no more.
Finally my point though. Huge kudos and congrats to all of us who donate $ to help our NIL program. Whether it's $50, $5000 or $50,000 we all helped in some fashion in nailing this portal season. Was out having beers with buddies yesterday and one of them is a Carolina guy. His buddy is a Duke guy who hauled with the "IU just buying a team" stuff. Before I could inject my two cents the Carolina guy says....slow that down. He goes in the NIL world if there was one sleeping giant out there most knew it was IU. They are just now able to play the game we've all been playing for decades.
Thought people might like to hear some outsiders perspective.
Two things can be simultaneously true. You can hate the NIL/portal landscape AND be happy IU is taking full advantage of it. I identify with both of those positions.
I read this somewhere and have stole it and posted it many times. You can build a team through the portal, but you can’t build a program through the portal. We seem to have built a team this offseason, I just hope it translates into building a program.

Lillard is doubtful for tomorrow night. The Pacers really need to take advantage and grab a 3-1 lead at home while they can.
-
We have upgraded the roster better than I thought we would. I’m not a fan of where college sports are now, but I’m beyond thrilled we seem to be at the forefront of figuring out how to make it work. Get a backup big, hopefully a 13th guy, and let’s see how it develops on the court.

I’ve been caught up in the Pacer game. Nice addition.

Great start by the Pacers up 39-22 after 1. Just need to stop fouling because the Bucks are 10-11 from the line
Gotta keep the pedal down.

Race Day is looking a little sketchy as of now, but this far out you can't trust the forecast. Lord willing, I"ll be there Saturday. Thankfully it's looking good like you say.
