They will have a plan for 2025. Right now they are just focused on acquiring talent for next years roster that fits together.

I get that but who you get affects 2025. If you get a bunch of sophomores that play the same position as the 4 -2025 kids compared to getting 4 - 1 year player that makes a difference. Like I said it usually plays itself out but to me you have to plan ahead in roster construction. That’s why it’s probably important to have a person in a role like Thad was in previously that focuses on those types of management.

That's why Kenya was able to get IU involved quickly

What I think will be telling is how many non 1 year guys we get. We for sure will lose Leal Galloway and 90% Mgbako. If we truly are in on all ‘25 top 4 Indiana kids then we probably need 6 open scholarships. Obviously kids leave so I’m sure a couple transfer out so realistically we need to take 2-3 one year eligible players remaining or someone like Ware who could easily leave after 1 year with us due to draft potential.

So I live in the Louisville area and what's happening at UofL is comical. They whiffed on Drew last week and he basically publicly bashed the program and the fans, then went all in on Dusty May only to lose out to Michigan. Yesterday the rumors were swirling with Richard Pitino (wtf) and now today it appears it's a done deal with Pat Kelsey. Apparently they offered the position to Josh Schertz after May but then found out he had already signed a memorandum of understanding to be the next head coach at Saint Louis because he thought he was out of the running at Louisville. You can't make this stuff up. So Kelsey is at minimum their 4th choice and all of this is public. It's good to know that the IU administration isn't the only clown show in town! 😂

Yeah so what I’ve heard about the SLU job is basically he said if he was offered the job at SLU he would stop his search any further and then decide between SLU and returning to ISU. I know a guy in the SLU basketball hall of fame and he basically thinks it’s a done deal with him.

Not nearly to the extent of Tony Perkins...

Galloway might be close on D, toughness, and experience but he's a better offensive player than Trey... And Leal isn't even in that conversation...

I watched Houston's Jamal Shead this year a few times, and he's a lot like Perkins... And he only shot 31% from the arc last year...

But the games I watched, he was the toughest, not to mention best, player on the floor... Iron will...

I think Tony Perkins can be that guy for us...

I just wonder why he had such a drastic falloff 9 of his last 11 games.

Watched Perkins play a lot over the years, and he's more of a 2 than a 1...He was kinda forced to play PG when Ulis left, and freshman Brock Harding was the only true point guard on the roster...

I haven't seen anything on Thornton leaving OSU, and if people are gauging that on Meechie Johnson going to the Buckeyes, I think those 2 could co-exist, but it'd be hard...

Thornton is a natural 1 but can be very ball dominant...He and Perkins would be a pretty good tandem in the backcourt...

To me I don’t want to bring in players that don’t make us better. We need shooters. Let’s say Perkins, Gallo, and Newton take up all 40 minutes at the 2 spot. Yes you’ll get intensity and good at driving the ball but you’re only gonna get 30% from 3 plus add in Tucker whose known weakness is shooting the 3 plus Mgbako being a streaky shooter it just all of a sudden feels no different than last year and I don’t want us to have another last year.

Well shoot.  I was making a list of similar nicknames for you.  Thought it would be fun.

I guess if you're not a fan of MgBako getting called Taco, then you probably wouldn't like it if I referred to you as Burrito, Enchilada, or Taquito.

    Maybe Sauerkraut?

To me you get free rein to call people whatever you want because we tease you wayyyy too much about your ex wives and you totally roll with it. In fact I originally thought your 5 fouls was how many fouls (mistakes you made by getting married) you had lol.

seems like a conundrum.  i mean we definitely want Taco back, but it will kind of put us right back where we were, but with possibly less talent.  first it's hard to see Woodson putting him at the 4.  if he does though, then Reneau starts at the 5, and like you said, defense is rough.  i like it offensively though!  more likely Taco is back at the 3 and Reneau at the 4, and a transfer at the 5.  we all know how that worked out this season and that was with a very talented Ware.

I really liked what I saw from Mgbacko at the 4 last year offensively. Feel like he is a mismatch plus in Woodson’s offense he would have plenty of chances at open 3’s

Yes, we got him. Now six more to go.

Can you give me a breakdown of Perkins? I know you posted he was a winner and a bulldog but these stats just don’t excite me unless these last 11 games he was injured then that changes things a little. We need ALOT of shooters and adding him as someone who will need/want big time minutes just doesn’t excite me especially if we are adding Tucker who isn’t good at 3’s and not sure Mgbako is gonna be good at threes next year either.

I still don't understand. They're two different people, kids, and situations.

Example-- what if this kid isn't done growing? What if he's a punk? Lets get him on a visit and find some stuff out..

That's the vetting part. The part Archie sucked at, Crean tried too often, and Woodson hasn't been stellar at..

But ultimately we have 7 schollies..

I prefer scholly 12 or 13 to be used on a player like this.. kids "ceiling" looks like a walking mismatch at the modern 4.

I totally agree with what you’re saying. I’m not saying I don’t want him or to take a chance on him what I’m saying is that for people overly optimistic just to take a step back and pray he develops.
