Although this is not something I like, it seems like athletes being paid is going to be happening sooner for their name, likeness, etc. California's bill was for it to start in 2023, but other state legislatures, Florida for one are trying to get this going much sooner, so the question is how it will affect basketball. There are a million other questions to be answered as to the particulars, but being a finance guy, I have been thinking how it will affect the NCAA basketball and of more importance, Indiana.

I first thought about college location, and what kind of impact it would have, and it will, but smaller than I first thought. The major question is how do you recruit when you really don't know how good a 5* is going to be, but you have to treat him like he is going to be the next Michael Jordan in terms of getting his name, and likeness out there which will equate to more dollars. I think it is also important to ask the question is how this will affect recruiting, and when I ask this question I look at it a different way. Will the recruiting budget of colleges in part be used to lure players to come and play for you if you deem them important to the team. In this case, Indiana having the highest recruiting budget would be in great shape. The pockets of the bid donors, how big the alumni fan base is and how far reaches, are all  for IU also.

There is so much too think of, but just in general financial terms, I would love to start getting some thoughts on how this is going to affect teams in their recruiting, how it will change, and of course how it will impact Indiana. Until details are filled in, we can only go off of the basic idea of what is going to happen. As I said, I am a bit weary of what is going on, but at least from a financial standpoint, Indiana is in good shape, and I know of many Universities who cannot say the same. Love to hear thoughts on this new topic, which I have not seen a thread posted on yet.

this was discussed in a big thread about a month ago under california's fair pay act. there was a lot of great analysis by coachv. i highly recommend reading it

I think the prevailing thought is that we need a big for this class...if Caleb Love doesn't chose IU.

Next year, Brunk will be our only true center. I know some see TJD as a back-to-the-basket big man, but I personally don't. There's not much call in the NBA these days for 6-9 post up centers. And I would hate to see us back having to defend B10 bigs with 6-7 forwards again.

So, in my mind, it's Garcia or Loveday, unless Love surprises us.

there's always transfers. about 800 this year, i think. where in florida do you live?
