Honestly, before the bracket came out I would have picked UCONN, Iowa St. and Auburn as 3 of my Final Four teams. They just loaded that region!

Sad they put the three hottest teams in the country on the same side.

Did sec get too much love.  Kentucky a 3.  Alabama a 4.  But then disrespects Auburn as a 4 and in that bracket.

I’m in the camp that Woodson should be gone, not because of this years record, but because of the terrible trajectory of the program.

The question I have for those of you who are in contact with lots of IU fans on a daily basis (I am not): How does the non-message board crowd generally feel about the situation?  My feeling is a change is a no brainer but am I just in a message board echo chamber?

Most of my IU friends wanted him fired in January and have only gotten nastier about it.

"I was hoping that he would announce after the game he was retiring but no such luck"

"Hey Woody.  I sat through that garbage. Am I a “True Fan” yet?  Or do I just need to chill?"

"Can’t wait to watch next years roster full of one year rentals. Still holding out hope Woodson has a “medical” issue and retires"

All from huge die hard IU fans.

Be careful what you wish for.  The programs currently kicking our ass take players like Cupps and make them good enough to compete by year 4.  We don't develop and run them off.  No continuity.  Cupps leaving would be a bad barometer IMO.

I'm fine with him getting about 10-12 mins a game next year.  Probably should have gotten about 6 a game this year on a competitive high major.

I was hoping he was going to be a better version of Jordy Hulls.  That was kinda what he was billed.  Yeah right.  How on earth did that kid win Ohio player of the year as a junior?  Does that state not produce?

Problem is last year this staff couldn’t close any players in the portal.  More NIL isn’t a guarantee of anything.  I don’t trust them to close anything but the trash cannon another bottle of wine.🍷

I mean Ware was ranked like top 3 in the portal.  Not getting guards is a huge concern but people like money, alot.

So let's say rumor mill plays out.  Currently Johnson, Walker, and Ware are out.  We have open scholarship.  Gunn and Banks are likely gone.  Say we add Cupps to that list.  You are at 7 open scholarships at that point.  Mgbako, Reneau, Galloway, Leal, Sparks, and maybe Newton are your returning players.

Hope everyone is ready for Struggle Bus Part 2.

7 new faces sounds better than running back any version of this.

  6. Now that the crap show is over, no I'm not talking about the Woodson coaching era, just this season, I'm ready to talk about cleaning house.  I'll start at the top.  Malik doesn't play winning ball.  Doesn't fight for rebounds or hustle.  I'm willing to give Mbako one more try but has anyone ever witness that kid sprint down the court on defense?  Nope.  Me neither.

I'm sure Malik is back but he will lead to the exact same disappointing results unless he is coached and looks hard in the mirror.

So we likely start with a base of Malik, Galloway, and Leal.  Probably Sparks and if rumors are true, no Cupps. Neither Sparks or Cupps are good enough to play more than 10 mins a game at this level anyways.

Good luck Woodson.  Just retire, "MAN."

I agree and he wouldn't have played the 5 if you had those two on the roster.

I said that was a flawed roster, it basically wouldn't have been had a combo of Holt/Davis or Davis/Fischer were on the roster.

Let's not forget that was the year Crean let Tim Priller start eating 4 years of a scholarship at IU.

And Jeremiah April got his 17 minutes of D 1 basketball.

Holt played the 5 for us as FR and had a stupid rebounding rate.

    Perea was a 5

    Davis was a college 4

The other underrated part of those two games was how many extra possessions they would have created because they were both good Orebs.

I don't really see flawed rosters from Crean, other than the season we discussed. And if those two were on the roster, while we still weren't the tallest team to ever walk the earth.... those two HAMMER the glass. Is there another example of a "flawed" roster?

But remember... that group wouldn't have had Holt, they would have had Fischer had he not transferred.

As you reminded us, Hartman was playing the 5.  We can tit for tat over positions.  When Hartman is your 5, you have a flawed roster.  If we can't agree on those simple terms, that's fine with me.

  9. @btownqb let's jump over here.

    "I disagree wholeheartedly.

Devon avg 11p 6r on a 27-8 Houston team that lost by a point to 3 seed Michigan in the 2nd round. UM was runner-up that year. Davis had 17p 7r in that game.

Emmit would have supplied a helluva lot of depth. Do you not remember the roster of Yogi's JR year?

Hartman played the 5... of course those two would have helped A TON. Holt, Perea, Davis, Hartman can all coexist."

I couldn't remember exactly when and what happened with Davis.  He didn't even play the 14-15 nor 15-16 season anywhere.  He clearly healed up and put up really solid numbers on what finished as the 21st ranked team in 17-18.  But to the original point, "rosters don't get guys fired," which 9 times out of 10 is exactly why they are fired, every one of those guys is not a 5.  Holt was a non skilled power forward in the traditional sense.  Hartman was basically a slow 3.  Perea was a lanky 4.  And Davis, who came in as a three but clearly not sort of moved to a 4s role.  Sure they would have all provided Collin Hartman some help playing a position no one ever called him to but the point was flawed rosters.

He got fired for not winning...Nothing else...

Because his roster sucked.  You get a semi generational guy like Romeo, get shooters around him to open up lanes.  Then you get a generational big in Trayce and he's triple teamed for 2 years because again, you still don't get shooters around him.  Bit explain it to me more simple so I can understand it.

Crean's was one season, really, of an incomplete roster, but Devan Davis and Emmitt Holt's stupidity was a lot of that.

Davis and Holt proved they never were high major contributors.  How much getting hit by a car limited Davis future growth, idk.  But they were redundant and didn't need both of them on the same roster to begin with.

He got fired because he never made the tournament, never beat Purdue...He got fired for his record, not roster issues...

Solley on roster issues, you can't find a one...

False.  You used to sit here and defend to the gills that they were in the tournament covid year, which most agreed.  His roster issues was not getting shooters.  Therefore, not winning, therefore, fired.
