  1. Wonderful, another fan with a binary, archaic way of looking at things. No one is talking about dropping unmarked bags of cash off on a recruit's doorstep, or having someone take a college entrance exam for a recruit. I'm referring to finding ways to operate in a way that isn't outright cheating, but in an area the NCAA clearly doesn't care to police or even monitor. You know, what probably 90% of Power 5 schools are doing. Before you knock it and act all holier than thou, I can all but guarantee Mike Woodson wants to operate in this gray area too.
  2. Franklin will be the tough one to hold onto. He's gonna have some good options, him and Lander both will. Holding out hope we can get either Aaron Henry or Keion Brooks to transfer in.
  3. SMH. Yeah the only reasonable explanation for someone not totally on board with this hire is that they're a hater.
  4. Come on, there is no way you can guarantee that so don't even bother. You sound a lot like Notre Dame fans talking about Charlie Weis when he was hired, how he was learning under some of the best minds in football and was going to out-scheme anyone they played. We all know how that turned out.
  5. What has he proven? His career winning % as a head coach is around 45%. He's never coached in college, nor recruited a college athlete. He hasn't been a head coach in 6 years. If he's so "proven" as you suggest, how come no one else hired him to be their head coach since the Knicks hired someone to replace him? Sorry, but just because this is someone's dream job doesn't make them uniquely qualified for it. Nor does it ensure success. It sounds like he'll have support from the administration, but where he could use real support is if they backed off a little and let him and his staff work the gray area in recruiting. To me, if we're still not willing to go there then it won't matter very much who the coach is.
  6. You mad bro? Calm down, it's called an analogy. After going for the hire everyone wants in Brad Stevens, Dolson went right for the safest, surest thing he could find without going after some other options first like Chris Beard, Musselman, Oats, etc. I'll support the guy, but I'm also really trying to get excited about it.
  7. Maybe we could get Keion Brooks to transfer from UK. He might benefit from a fresh start as much as we would.
  8. Scott Dolson was at the bar, went right for the hottest girl there, got rejected then went straight for the drunk fat chick.
  9. Nope, I disagree. He'd be getting a $2M/year raise, and be the 3rd highest paid coach in college basketball. Is he worth #1 money? Of course, but he doesn't strike me as a guy solely interested in money. He turned down Oregon money, among others, while still at Butler. If and when Duke, UNC, etc come sniffing around then you renegotiate the contract.
  10. It seems that the only way we would have a chance at Stevens is if he makes himself available, rather than if the Celtics make him available. Maybe an 8 year contract at $5.5M per year with incentives could entice him.
  11. Coaches also aren't dumb. They talk to each other, and it's a fraternity. They know who is hamstrung by their own administration. No amount of money would make Chris Beard want to come to a tougher conference and have to deal with internal obstacles that prevent him from rising to the top.
  12. Scott Drew hasn't been to the Elite 8 since the 2011 season. He's never been to a Final 4, and has only been to the Elite 8 twice. Keep in mind he's been coaching at Baylor since Mike Davis was walking our sidelines. 9 times out of 14 seasons, he's had double digit losses. His first 4 years were a mess so I didn't count those. What do people see out of Scott Drew that makes them think he'd be capable of sustained, consistent success here?
  13. Yawn. I mean he is probably a good coach but if he's the best we can do then I'd rather just keep Archie and hope continuity and stability eventually breeds success. I don't see boosters and the athletic department coming up with $10M to buy out Archie and bring in Eric Musselman.
  14. As opposed to Jaden Iveys step back 3 against OSU? Oh that was different.
  15. I kind of agree. A shortened shot clock means there is less time to run a good play or get into your offensive set, so teams will start jacking more 3s than they already do.
