  1. Reds are winning playing dumb. Imagine how good they would be if they played smart.
  2. The Pirates started last year red hot as well. Think they were still leading the division at the end of April.
  3. My fantasy team says 'Thank you very much'.
  4. Everyone complaining about Edey would sacrifice their left testicle if he were to announce he's grad transferring to IU to play ball next year.
  5. 9. Pleasantly surprised to get below 10 on this one. I will confess I got extremely lucky. I was intending to put Orosco in the Guardian/Oriole square. Somehow I ended up on the Guardian/Padre square and didn't realize it. Thank goodness he worked there as well. Enzo Hernandez may be my favorite answer in the Immaculate Grid. I use him every time the combination pops up. Random baseball card memory from my youth comes in handy. The name 'Enzo' was unique and stuck with me. @IUFLA we both got Boog and we got Candiotti on different squares. I thought of Ernie Whitt as well, but was not 100% sure he was ever an All-Star.
  6. Trust me I know. I work in the downtown business district. 2 daytime shootings in this area in the last few weeks.
  7. Judge yourself however you wish, but I was just catching up on this thread and I was itching to get caught up so I could post this exact same thing. Some people are cool when they find out they think like me. Most, however, are horrified.
  8. I have to ask. Who are you responding to? I read the all the posts on the previous page and see nothing that fits.
  9. I have been to events at the Brown, but never actually stayed there, or eaten at the restaurant. It is a very nice hotel though. The main nighttime/entertainment district is about 3 blocks south. Walkable depending on the time of day. Would probably Uber back to hotel at night if you do go there though.
  10. When was the last time we lost to a #15 or #16 seed. We can argue semantics, but there is a difference between 'being the 'best' and being the 'premiere'. The Lakers aren't the best in the NBA Western Conerence. They are the premiere. The Yankees aren't currently the best MLB team. But, they are the premiere franchise in the sport. etc, etc, etc.
  11. You're desiring a 3-way with Edey and Caitlin Clark?
  12. @Naturalhoosier Not a good start to the Joe Espada era in Houston.
  13. 7 teens between 12 and 17 shot in downtown Indy last night. No word yet whether the victims were fans who were in the area after attending the Championship games or not.
  14. The whole Shortstop / Catcher thing intrigued me. I was expecting there to be less than 30 in history. The two positions have virtually nothing in common. I was surprised to see there were 431 correct answers to that square. Many of them were old-timers, but almost 20 are players who have played in the 21st century.
  15. I don't know if we talked about on here or not. But, did you see where Plummer passed away earlier this year?
  16. 21. In hindsight, I wish I had did Campaneris at2B and Farmer at SS. But, I did the Farmer square first. I was worried I would be tempted to settle for Biggio in that square if I could not think of anyone else. It wasn't until later that I remembered Campy played all 9 positions in one game. And, @IUFLAI'm embarrassed that you came up with Plummer and I settled for Bench. I wasn't displaying good Reds fandom there.
  17. If you were any more excited, I might start believing you're not really a Boiler fan.
  18. Usually conferences are confined to one or two classes, though it's not prohibited from being 3 or 4. But, schools that much different in enrollment probably do not want to be in conferences together given the choice.
  19. The Mid-Southern, the conference in question, has 9 teams. 6 are in Class 3A. 3 are in Class 2A. Classes are based on enrollment. Conference alignment is not class dependent to allow for teams that move up or fall in enrollment.
  20. David Bell pinch hits Nick Martini in the 8th. Perfect. Martini hits a 2 run double. Puts the Reds up by 2. Then, he proceeds to do what may be the most idiotic managerial move I've ever seen. He doesn't let Martini stay in the game to play right field. Rather, he puts Jake Fraley into the game into Martini's spot in the batting order. That's Jake Fraley, your last left-handed bat left on the bench. That's Jake Fraley, your best clutch hitter last year, who now has virtually no chance whatsoever to bat in the 9th if you need him against the Nats Right-Handed closer. Of course, we now know what happens. Diaz blows the lead and the Reds don't have Fraley's bat available unless they go 8 hitters deep in the 9th. That's ignorant. Martini is an outfielder. He easily could have stayed in the game after his pinch hit. Just unreal.
  21. I came on here to ask you. Do you know if that's ever been done in the same year? Congrats to the Braves. My son and I had planned on going to all the sessions today, But, I was sick Thursday and Friday. Felt better today, but needed to get my lawn mowed since I couldn't do it the previous two days.
  22. I used 4 Hall of Famers and a 5th that would have been if not for a gambling addiction. It's amazing how little the younger crowd know about baseball history. And, it pays to be a fan of a small market team. While I can use 5 Reds and score low if I used 5 Yankees, I'm hitting high score on several of these categories.
  23. Actually, 'Jake's Astonishing Bracket' is in second. We don't have a 'Jake' on here. I think if that bracket wins because UConn beats Purdue in the final, the championship trophy should be given to the 2nd place team. In that scenario, that would be me.
