  1. Injuries have taken a toll on us for the last several seasons, and this year is no exception. With a healthy team, we would very likely be atop the Big Ten today.

I like Scott a great deal, he has my complete confidence, and I believe he is well suited for his position. He boldly assembled the resources to get Brad Stevens and nearly accomplished that mission, as only a few of us truly realize. He’s also shown a willingness to move on coaches when many did not think he would (Miller and Allen), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he lets Michael go, unless he elects to keep him.

  2. I think Michael is growing into the position and will hit his stride soon. Might not be fast enough for the Negative Nancy Whine and Cheese Club, but he’s advancing in his craft. I have made Scott aware of my concerns regarding the program, however, and I know he’s monitoring with great interest.

  3. The pu-NW game in the Hogbarn was another example of the Big Ten’s intentional bias in officiating. The disparity in fouls can’t be defended and anyone who watched this knows the could only be a scripted effort on the part of officials to elevate pu while hurting us. Scott continues to be aware of my dissatisfaction and call for a formal investigation and I am confident he is keeping conference officials fully up to date about the need for a formal investigation. What occurred at the tin barn last night can’t be allowed.

  4. This was another example of the Big Ten’s orchestrated efforts to tilt the officiating to our opponents, as X did not deserve a T for harmlessly tossing the ball. I coached for years and never have experienced this type of egregious bias.

When players like Edey get away with murder and X gets treated like a murderer, a formal investigation is warranted. I continue to make Scott aware of my concerns and will consider more formal actions should this situation persist.

Whoa, CJ didn' do anything that Wisky doesn't do nearly every play. The sad part was that it was a weak ass attmempt that the wisky player should be nominated for an oscar for. We can't even be bad boys properly. I mean who half asses a F2?  IU, that's who.

It was another example of the intentionally biased officiating courtesy of the Big Ten. Scott has already been supplied with my thoughts on the subject.

  6. I predict my pre-game cocktail will be refreshing, my steak will be perfectly medium rare, and that the Big Ten referees will continue with their orchestrated campaign against us. And the Negative Nancy Whine & Cheese Club will conduct another exercise of whining disguised as factual posting, whatever the outcome.

I don’t know how anyone can look at those stats and come to any other conclusion than biased officiating being the primary cause of defeat tonight.

We were just as aggressive in the paint as Purdue was. They were allowed to bully and push, and we were not.

That not only affects free throw numbers; it affects how you’re forced to play the game.

I get that we aren’t a good team, and I have absolutely no disagreement with that assessment right now, but this should have been a close game. It was only a blowout because of the officiating, so everyone bellyaching about the worst loss in 90 years can stow it.  There’s absolutely no team that could have overcome the zebras tonight matched against a really good team like Purdue.

Agreed. The poor and biased officiating I’d deliberate and it needs to be investigated and ultimately prosecuted if criminal wrongdoing has occurred. We were the leaders of the Big Ten for decades and other schools and the conference leadership have decided to deliberately punish us for athletic, academic and social excellence.

Yeah, calls were awful but the two guys we sat finished with 5 fouls total. That’s a bad coaching decision.

We are averaging losing by 18 to Quad 1 opponents. We just had our worst home loss to Purdue in 90 years. Don’t come in here and try to act like people aren’t justified in being upset with the state of things.

This board has been very civil sans comments like this from you and a few others stirring crap up.

Coach Woodson is the right guy for the job, and we’ll be a tournament team in March. The Negative Nancy Whine and Cheese Club crowd will see soon enough and when the officiating conspiracy is exposed, we’ll be on top where we should be.

I’d tend to believe that if it weren’t a recurring theme.  It seems to benefit the same teams over and over.  Has Edey fouled out of more than a handful of games (or even been in foul trouble)?

I think it’s possible that some conference schools are part of the officiating conspiracy. We dominated all of them for years and there has been no shortage of jealousy. What we are seeing now is the result of that jealousy.

It isn’t accidental.  There are narratives being pushed.  We don’t have any pull and the conference is ok keeping us down.  We will all still watch IU even while being screwed.  Our fan base and ratings are taken advantage of for the good of every other team in the conference

This is likely an aspect of truth here, as we are the dominant ratings leader within the conference and would be whether we win or not. Pushing other less deserving teams up won’t change any of that. My email to Scott will be detailed.

    And yet....no T's by coach.

He continues to be steamed rolled by the refs without a care in the world.

It’s plausible that part of the conspiracy is against CMW, since he was a Knight player. This is a deliberate effort against us and it must be stopped. Scott will hear from me this evening.

  12. I’ll be sending Scott a detailed email to request that he officially protest the officiating with the Big Ten commissioner. It is apparent that there is a deliberate effort in place to insure that we aren’t able to compete at the top of the conference or nationally. This is an obvious conspiracy that must be immediately investigated and when the facts bear it out, it must be referred to the proper legal authorities. To be treated so disrespectfully and intentionally is obscene and not proper.

What's really disappointing about XJ, is beyond the ejection, up to that point he was playing almost worse than his performance at Nebraska.

IU may be young, but you're definitely not winning on the road when your 6th year senior point guard is your worst "can't play on the road" offender, and your other senior guard has lost all confidence in his shot.

The ejection was unwarranted. I’ve watched the replay a number of times and X did not intentionally make contact, if anything it was the Rutger player’s fault. The forearm shiver should’ve been an ejection and suspension. X at worst should’ve been an F1. Typically poor officiating.

  14. Cigs has added some good Sun Belt talent to our roster while running off the non-BiG players who dominated our roster for the last several years. It’s a necessary wholesale gutting that I was calling for months ago, and I’m glad Cigs understood the need to clean house.

We need wings who are legitimately wings, guys who can move laterally, help handle the ball, shoot and slash with regularity, etc.

We need shooting guards who can actually shoot especially with volume, defend the three and help rebound.

We need point guards who can initiate the action, be playmakers and also square up and shoot.

I honestly don’t think we have any of that.  So it’s not quite right to say that we have talent.  The upside for this team isn’t very high.  Would love to see an NCAA tourney bid, even if it’s a first round loss.  I’m not holding my breath though.

At this point I just don’t want IU to go off the rails like with Archie.

The offseason is huge.  Hopefully the staff learned a lesson last offseason.  The concern is that the staff expresses stubbornness publicly.   I think you’ve got to land half a dozen new players next year.

As someone with an extensive coaching background, I can tell you and others here that our issues are largely at the other end of the floor. I know Scott, like Fred, is deeply involved in all aspects of the program and is regularly working with CMW to improve the team.

Has this guy ever called plays or put together game plans at a major University before?

No, he has not as he’s only been a position coach, but Tom is extremely well connected and has an outstanding record of finding up and coming coaches like this. He is doing extremely well this off season and has Scott’s full support based on my conversations with him. We are in good hands.

Word on the street is that interviews started early this week. This move has been in the works.

Agreed. My sources tell me this was always part of the plan, as Coach signaled in his signing day comments in December. Tom has the reins here, and Scott is also committed to making this work. Warren and People’s expected departures were not a surprise.

On if there will be any other changes to his staff…
TA: “Yeah, I think at this point we made a significant change in leadership on the offensive side of the football, and that’s where we expect to be able to stay at this point, and so obviously everything will continue to go forward and we’ll continue to evaluate things, but at the same time that’s the most significant change I expect to make.”
