Wouldn't change a thing. Their second string is better than anyone we have. This is like watching a pro team playing a high school team. We suck from top to bottom.

It's been that way forever. Even when we have given them a game, the talent gap was still obvious. They are loaded with 5 star recruits with a few 4 stars sprinkled in. We celebrate getting a 4 star guy once in a while. Where we recruit we will never compete or beat them on a consistent basis. We are who we are. Until that changes we are competing with the bottom of the conference. I'll concede that the top teams are out of reach. But there is no reason we can't compete with everyone else.

I am just wondering over the years what IU has done differently than other football program s to where we haven't been able to win.  I just look at some other schools just in the big ten where they didn't have great tradition but over the last 30 years have been able to be competitive. I see UW and NW being able to go to the Rose Bowl and win the big ten but we can't even come close to that.

It is mind boggling the level of implosion between 19 & 20 and the last two seasons. You didn't expect to be competing in the B1G East at the level of the COVID year, but we've collapsed back to the depths of DiNardo and Lynch.

Did it all come down to Penix knowing he'd never stay healthy behind this putrid O-line? That would have made heading West with DeBoer all the easier. On one hand it does look like those two guys are what everything hinged on. But it wouldn't matter who's at QB with the current turnstile group's protection.

Maybe it's really just that Allen got totally lucky and now we're simply seeing him exposed as the non-Big 10-level-coach he is. I agree with previous posts that the defense has really underachieved, which looks eve worse for him back at the play-calling helm. Lot of returning experience, purportedly strong DB unit. Allegedly strong recruiting classes of late. The only thing that's materialized is failure.

I don't know which direction to go right now. 2 years of just bad, bad football mostly because of the QB position. Seems like the program has been on a downward spiral since McFadden penalty vs Cincy.

So is Dolson the type of AD that believes in Allen so much and continues moving forward? Different sport but similar decision to be made....Painter after 7 years on the job didn't win a tourney game for 4 years and rallied? Does Dolson think that Allen is that type of guy and we just need to wait for the Big 10 to undo the unbalanced divisions?

Right now today I'm in the corner of hit the portal hard, new assistant coaches,etc.....but Allen has to know next year is it which comes back to this point. Especially in football is Allen already at the point where he can't recruit 3-4 year guys to the program because he may not be here? If that's where we are at we have to move on.

Just a tough call to be made. If the kids mail it in this month I could see Dolson making the move realizing the program is dead. If that happens. Call Washington.

UW and NW have had some dang fine coaches for the past 30 years.  We have not.

Money.  They just don't spend the money needed on the football program.  And that includes coaches.

They have tried putting more money into the program the last 15 years. Isn't Allen salary ranked in the top 25 in coaches salaries. We really put money into the facilities and they are a lot better than they use to.

Started 30 years ago.  When Mallory was let go we should have spent money on Lou Holtz to be the next coach.

Why would he leave Washington for IU, that is a huge step down. He can win the Pac 10 at Washington and at IU the best you can do is finish 4th in tbe East

Sorry. I was just telling you what I meant by Washington...i.e. Deboer. Debating the programs,etc....is another conversation.

I mean technically finishing first is the best you could do.  They did finish 2nd 2 years ago.
