Arizona Post Game Thread

I was there.  The atmosphere was amazing.  From the minute I walked into MGM from the parking lot all I saw was IU jerseys throughout the hotel and casino.  They announced 13,500+ fans at the game.  Of those, a least 10,000 were IU fans.  The noise was deafening.  You would have thought more AU fans since they are much closer to Las Vegas, but that as not the case.  They got frowned out by IU fans the whole game.  It was like a home game.  IU travels well.

As for the game itself, Arizona had too much height, which gave them multiple second and third chances.  They love to throw the ball inside to the two seven footers.  Once IU got very close in the second half, AZ's guards got hot from outside.  It seemed like every three pointer they threw up went in during the stretch between 8 and 4 minutes remaining.  IU fought hard but just could never catch up.

Me too.

I thought it was hilarious. Before tip off they had this hype guy/MC introducing each school and listing their accolades. Everybody was cheering through IU’s intro and when he got to AZ’s the boo’s were so loud you couldn’t even hear what he was saying. It kinda took the MC off guard - it didn’t seem like he knew what to do. Haha.

It just seemed like whoever wasn’t a cowboy in Vegas was an IU fan. MGM was crazy but we went as far as Fremont St. on Friday night and there were still IU fans everywhere. I played craps a couple of times (away from MGM) and there were IU guys to the left and right of me. Just an incredible turnout. Even though we lost and it’s taken me a few days to recover from all the activity and booze, I’m so glad we made the trip. We need to play in Vegas every year. And this is from a guy who’s never really been crazy about Vegas.
