I would say yes. the MAAC is usually middle of the road in the conference hierarchy, wile the NEC is usually towards the bottom. Iona has had more 'moments' than FDU as well. Both the MAAC and the NEC are strictly one bid leagues though. 1

There are better teams in their conference, who have made the NCAA tournament. I’m sure slightly better facilities and obviously, more $…

5fouls
According to Sagarin, the MAAC was the 23rd best conference this year, and the Northeast was literally the worst. Those paint a fairly accurate picture from a historical perspective. If anything, the MAAC may rank a couple of spots higher. Thei is absolutely a step up. Kind of pathetic, if you gave a coach with a ridiculous buyout clause, don't try and blame the coach when you want out.

That outside of his time in Boston and PSU he has coached at 5 different schools in Indiana. He also coached at Indiana University South Bend for 3 years. At least UConn was put on probation and Ollie got a three year show cause, but Ollie still won. I’d think Anderson would have a strong case. No matter who the coach is, they regularly won over 20 games a year. They’ve been to 16 NCAA tournaments, have won 13 regular season titles and 14 conference tournament titles. I think Iona has had around 10 players that played in the NBA.
