I’m not too good for it. I joined a place that has civil conversations and monitors profanity and inappropriate comments. I’m not that old. I’m between generations. I’m only 44. But I deleted Facebook and stay off Twitter and Instagram etc because it’s full of filth and the messaging is so negative all the time it just keeps getting pushed into your feed. I used to work in a place that wanted to push connecting through social media and wanted us to make posts and make connections with LinkedIn etc but thank God I’m now working for an organization that builds relationships the old fashioned way…face to face and through meaningful relationships. I very much enjoy it and surprisingly while most may think our clients would all be older we see many very successful younger people also prefer this. I fully understand the benefits but for a lot of us…we just prefer not have to sift through all the negativity and garbage to get it. So I’m saying that…I’m genuinely saying thank you for doing that for me!!

My son is 31 and he feels the same way you do.

Yeah we have been very successful with this approach. When everyone else is pushing online and impersonal solutions (and don’t get me wrong we use docu-sign and have online portals etc) we have been extremely successful with face to face client meetings, lunches, and in home visits….even picking them up at the airport when they need a ride. Sure we can call them an Uber or schedule a courier to deliver docs but clients love the personalization and the hands on attention. It builds trust and a connection. Feels good to me as well as it’s the type of relationship building I get satisfaction from…and like I said…I’m not old like your son…it is very much appealing to a lot of people. I get social media and the attraction and endless information and entertainment but it generally doesn’t appeal with the majority of what is on it and I can use my time more wisely to enjoy it with my family or reading my bible or watch a documentary.

Ok, I did log out but figured I would at least check the responses and maybe reconsider.

To see 2 of you immediately respond in a better way, I’m good. Apology appreciated and accepted.

the irony of all ironies, I felt the responses here I was getting are worse than anything I have gotten on social media. Felt very, wow, look at you. Look at what recruiting is now. Guys stalking social etc.

In my mind- I’m like ok, as opposed to 50/60 year olds sitting around talking about recruits on a message board, waiting on the next insider to post something and paying for Rabby to post his lack of knowledge haha

we are all good and see it differently is all.

wrong thread but relates - I had this feeling some thing was up with it being so quite on Ledlum. Sure enough, was checking his Instagram and he starts following Tenn players today and I am like - oh crap.

so that tells me he was all in on IU but they flipped him for sure. Would LOVE to know exact reason.

Scott, I say this with respect - stay off Facebook haha - that one is the worst of all of them. Choose any other one. Haha

I only joined Facebook a couple of years ago and that was to try to get back in touch with old friends. By the way I really don't like how some of you young guys thinks that anything that happened before you were born isn't relevant. You act like because we are older that we don't know anything and how do things are not right.  You act like you invented sports and anything that happened in the past isn't relevant.

I say this respectfully as I contributed to side tracking this thread…let’s save the social media stuff for another thread. Not judging but this will quickly turn back and forth and this isn’t the place for it.

Wasteland… ok got it. Had a feeling this board skews much older and don’t quite get it.  Not the first comment since joining here that has lead me to believe that with the “I’m too good for that social media stuff”

All good. Will stick to my wasteland (fyi, my job involves being on current social media)

The funniest part for me is all of you thinking message boards are not social media and you haven’t been doing the same for 20 years.

You create accounts, anyone can join, argue, over react, look for rumors or that next in the know person to make your day, rarely know the real person behind the account, etc. message board were the first social media of the internet.

all good, I’m out

You're bringing good info and it's appreciated.  Don't take comments too seriously.  Beyond an occasional flareup, this isn't really that much of an adversarial forum when compared to most others I've been involved in.  Despite giving poor Beamer a hard time, I really don't subscribe to keeping score on accuracy.  After awhile, you figure out who has better intel and you learn to pay attention to them..  Unfortunately no one has perfect intel except the recruit himself and kids can and do flip at the last minute.  They're kids.  They fall in and out of love every time the wind shifts.  Personally, I'll take Payton Sparks, who dreamed on playing at IU and committed quickly over a kid who does a complete 180 in less than a week.

The pushback you've gotten here has been pretty mild from what I've seen, but if it bothers you, put em on ignore.  Life is too short to live in perpetual turmoil.

Except at 72 I can only piss just so far.....

Do you golf? If so, a little tip for you....a half dose of Viagra before you play will insure that you will clear your golf shoes when you piss in the woods. You're welcome.

😝
