I'll say it again.  I'll be very surprised if he's at IU next year. The D or G league isn't a deterrent to leaving school. They get $ with a chance to be noticed by plenty of NBA scouts. We as fans may think it's a failure because it's not the NBA but getting paid to play hoops....any amount of $....is a pretty big deal to majority of players.

I can't find a link but there was an interview done last summer or beginning of the season where those guys as well as OG said this is great playing in the pros....you better hurry up and get here. Much like I felt Troy was gone before his last season I think Juwan is too.

I know these guys make a ton of money, but this is where I think as fans and the media too, we sometimes lose perspective when criticizing coaches. I think the vast majority of us agree that Archie can coach basketball, right?

But look at how much his success hinders on the decisions of two guys. If Juwan Morgan stays and Romeo Langford commits, IU is a Big Ten Title contender next year and Archie is "The Man". If Juwan goes pro and Langford goes to another school, IU probably struggles and is a bubble team and we're all on pins and needles with TJD and Brooks and wondering why Archie can't get the program going. 

Two decisions, one by a junior and one by a hs senior, play such a huge role in the success of the program and the coach.

When I first read this, I read it as "...being fed trained coached coeds.." and I lol'd.  Then I realized you meant fed, trained, coached, coeds as all separate things, and it wasn't nearly as funny.

That graphic IU put out isn't even true. Those aren't the only two guys who have at least those stat lines this season and stats don't get you drafted. I still believe Juwan is now a very good college player but won't get drafted this year. If he comes back he could push for All American status and work his way into the draft and a real contract. Who know's what his priorities are though? Maybe he's good going the JBJ route straight to the G-League, especially since they've upped their salaries. Maybe he continues to dominate from here on out and gets into this year's 2nd round but I think he has a lot to gain by coming back with not much to lose.

Also gotta think that landing Romeo is a huge incentive for Juwan to stay. It definitely can't hurt! You just salivate looking at a line-up of:

an improved/consistent Devonte - the disher
Romeo - the shooter
McBOB - the scraper
Juwan - the muscle
Smith - the high flyer (who will hopefully learn to finish around the rim this summer)

Davis - 6th man off the bench who comes in and plows through the back-up bigs.  

Man, do I love the sound of that line-up. Sure it's debatable, but it's hard to argue how balanced it is.

I wish we have a legit big man rather than playing Smith at 4/5 spot. Smith should be the first one off the bench backing McBob or Morgan. I don't have high expectation for Davis, and hopefully Thompson could be the one providing minutes at the 5 spot.

The lack of punctuation in the last sentence threw me for a moment. I was like, I hope to God he isn't being fed trained coached coeds. We aren't Louisville. 

But yes, depending on what he wants there is plenty of reason to come back.

I honestly don't know much about Thompson or how well he moves, but I just don't like the line-ups when Juwan and Davis are on the floor at the same time because Juwan plays better with space and Davis eats up too much of it. I don't necessarily think we need a traditional line up with a traditional big if we have length and quickness that creates match up problems for the other team. 

I think Smith has a lot of promise though. If he just finished half of the dunks/easy lay-ups he missed this year we'd singing his praises. This summer is going to be big for him. And mark my words...as a senior he will be our rock.  

EDIT/add: I also don't like to depend on freshman to fill such big roles (beside players of Romeo's caliber). I'll welcome it but I don't expect it.

I think you'll mostly see Davis play when Morgan sits next year. Juwan has gotten better playing from the perimeter as the season has progressed so I think we will survive with them playing about ten minutes together next season.

Guys, it was early.  I apologize for my lack of commas.  However, after looking back, being fed trained coached coeds doesn't sound too bad.  

I know one of those guys, it might have been Troy or Yog that said "hurry up and get there.".  It may have been Thomas Bryant and that was their pact.  I don't know.  I'm just speculating that being the man of the team and campus can be a lot of fun.  Hell when I got back from Afghanistan my senior year, I was a freaking rockstar in my circles on campus.  One of the best years of my life.

My guess is that the feedback he gets from scouts and his coaches is: it is difficult to project what he would do well in the NBA at this point, so he's unlikely to get drafted.

IMO, this is the biggest difference between him and Troy/JBJ. Juwan is an outstanding basketball player without the NBA tools for his size. Troy/JBJ rode their NBA tools to varying levels of success as college basketball players. You could watch JBJ shoot and maybe imagine him to be a career 3-point specialist. You could watch Troy run the court with his length and athleticism, and imagine him as just about anything you want. Yogi had about every tool one could ask for, except for height...and he went undrafted. I don't think anyone on here is even the slightest bit surprised he's having some success as a pro. I'm not sure what we can imagine Juwan to be in the NBA, and that's not to even imply that he won't have success as a pro. 

That said, maybe Juwan is graduating this year? I don't know. Maybe, with degree in hand, he thinks he can develop his shot better in the G-league. Maybe, with degree in hand, he thinks he can get a masters degree and develop his shot at IU. He's certainly not lacking the touches beyond the arc, it's just what he decides to do with it. Who knows. Just my worthless 2 cents xD
