NFL Streaming... help!

Recommended Posts

I have used the CBS, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, and WatchESPN apps to stream games for a number of years now. I was not able to stream the Colts this past weekend.... my brother-in-law thinks YouTubeTV took that capability away, which doesn't really make sense, but it didn't work so maybe he is right? I still have a cable provider.

Does anyone have any clue how to help me?

I am going to have a buddy's Sunday ticket to watch every game that isn't TNF, SNF, MNF, and Colts games... I can stream TNF, MNF with Amazon+ESPN, so that is taken care of.... It's just Colts games and SNF, that I think will be the issue.

I understand I can get some rabbit ears and go old school (and I do that in my garage)... but a more modern option would be nice...

That sucks.  Sorry can't offer much help.  My son is pestering about Sunday ticket since we had it with Direct TV the last couple if years.  But, I'm not doing it.

The first year we had it with Direct was free because of a major customer service failure on their part.  Last year they gave it to us free again for reasons I'm not sure about.

But, we dont have YouTube subscription and im not buying it and then paying for Subday ticket on top of that.

We get virtually every Bengals game locally in the Louisville market anyway.

Sunday Ticket is a great idea, but they make are taking advantage of the consumer in my opinion with all the restrictions.

I am thinking about going with the NFL+ Premium directly through the NFL for $80 right now. We cut the cord and have our TVs hooked up to antenna on roof, which allows us most Colts games and a majority of Bears. I also have Amazon Prime Video for Thursday Night games. I figure with this package I can get the Bears games I can't pick up locally in their entirety...worst case I can watch them commercial free after the game ends, I will just have to make sure not check the scores.

I am not sure if this will work for you, but it seems like a good deal. Here is a breakdown:

  • NFL+ Premium for $79.99/year includes access to:
    • NFL RedZone (New for 2023!)
    • Game replays (full game, condensed game, and all-22 coaches film)
    • Live local & primetime regular and postseason games on your phone or tablet
    • NFL Network (New For 2023!)
    • Live out-of-market preseason games
    • Live game audio (home, away, & national calls) for every game
    • NFL library programming on-demand and ad-free
    • Ad-free game highlights

Here is a link if you are interested...the $80 yearly price includes a 20% off promotion that they are currently running.

Hmmm... you might be my hero!!

Think NFL Network and Redzone can be watched on a TV?

I know the local games would have to be on a phone or tablet. But, I will also be using antenna on those.

Supposedly sunday ticket has unlimited streams this year..... so, find 2-3 other guys and split the cost! haha.... fingers crossed it works.

@FritzIam4IU ... I clicked the link and answered my own question. I am definitely going this route.

NFL+ vs. NFL+premium..... only difference seems to be NFL Redzone?

You can stream it to your tv on the replays correct? I didn’t have a chance to look closely at that yet.

the main issue I have where I live is that I get Fort Wayne/Indy stations through antenna, so I get about half of the bears games. I am good with watching them on replay though especially if colts are playing at the same time. The only issue will be trying to avoid seeing the bears score.

Anyway, glad it will work for you!

Yes, I think so.

The replays aren't that big of a deal to me, at least at this point in life (no kids until December).... I think I am going to go with the $40 version since we are going to watch some games using my buddies Sunday Ticket (assuming they do allow multiple streams)... I don't think I will use Redzone that often.

BUT.. in your shoes, the $80 is a great deal, imo.

I have had NFL Sunday Ticket through DirecTV for 14 years.  It is truly nice to have access to any game.   You can just flip on Carolina vs the Browns if you feel like it.  It was the only reason I even had DirecTV.  Now that it is on youtube TV, I will probably pick that up.  Verizon is offering it free if you switch to their home internet.  Does anybody have verizon home internet?  Is it good?

I don't know why all the sports leagues don't offer a team subscription (Streaming season ticket).  Charge something like $100 per season and you get access to every game of that team and the coaches show, etc.  It would kill, wouldn't it?  I would be all over that.

Yep. That's what baseball does... not sure why the NFL doesn't?

I have xfinity internet wise.

I would be super leery of the Verizon home internet. I am sure it's fine most of the time, but relying on cell service for the internet would concern me, at least speed wise. But this just based on a little research I have done. I work from home a lot, so I just wouldn't trust it to be a consistently good connection, especially for stuff like video streaming. That being said, I don't know anyone who has it.

Oh dude, I must have missed this.  Or missed too much sleep.  Congratulations.  Such an incredible life changing event.  I'll pray for a healthy momma and baby.

Chiming in as an out-of-towner who still religiously watches the Colts:

- I would not expect that two people could watch a Sunday Ticket stream at once, though the change from DTV -> YT may make that possible - but given their price point, you can imagine they don't want people to share

- RedZone is great but just understand you're not getting the game, you're getting highlights of all games at the same time

- GamePass is really sweet if you can wait out an internet blackout or you don't mind having it spoiled and still watching.

I've had NFLST the last 6 years but really unsure what I'll do this time

I had Sunday ticket the last two years and you for sure couldn't then, but I am almost sure I read unlimited streams somewhere. And yes, RZ is GREAT, just don't think I'll use it IF I can use my buddies NFLST. But if I can't... I'd say I will pay for the $80 version on NFL+. My wife loves her fantasy, so we'd still get a lot of use out of RZ.

If you've done NFLST for 6 years.. why wouldn't you this year, as well? Just curious.

Depending on how close you live physically to your buddy, I think you will be able to stream, but if you're far away YTTV picks up on it and tells you the sharing is only meant for those in the same home, not family members across the country / state / city / etc (this is based on my current YTTV plan, so assuming it is similar).

DirectTV had a wonderful workaround where you could get a college student to sign up for you for $100 all-in.  Every year I found a new intern and gave them $20 beer money for the right to use their email.  It was glorious.

That must have changed because when I signed up it was two streams.

I know a lot of people use a vpn to just change their location and then stream the local channel the game is on with youtubetv.
