I haven't yet done it but I bought a flat cast iron pan to put on my grill and a heavy duty stainless steel spatula.

I bought a Rock PRO Reversible Grill/Griddle from Costco (and I know the link goes to the Canadian Costco site, but I couldn't find it on their US site) and it works good on Smashburgers, steaks, fish... you name it... put on the grates of my gasser, and off ya go...

We're lucky here where we are. Have 2 really good diners from the 50's & 60's with fantastic burgers, Philly Cheese steaks and ribeye sandwiches, as well as other stuff.

Fries are cooked to order, ,so they're always piping hot. And both of them are cheaper than fast food combo's.

Just going with the flow and derailing the thread like everybody does on other threads !!  Figured it was my turn. (lol)

Like Burger King the best, but around here the lobbies aren't open 75% of the time. Drive thru only. Went to one BK and they said "we're out of burgers". How the hell does that happen?

So THAT's where are the grease on the floor comes from....

That's just the beginning of the grease at that place.  We were driving from Venice FL back to Indiana through the night.  Made it to South of Nashville and stooped at a waffle house.  You would have thought we were the king and queen the way these ladies treated us.  Fantastic food/breakfast but that patty melt.  Bread slathered in butter, grilled to perfection.

I went to a Waffle House 45 years ago. Didn't go back for another 20 yrs. Didn't change a bit. Since I'm in my 70's I doubt if I'll last another 15 years to make it for the trifecta...

They have actually changed quite a bit.  Find a brand new location and give it a try.  Especially if you are in the south.  I can't tell you how great of an experience it was.  It was like being down at my family's in the Appalachian mountains and my great aunt and cousins roll out the red carpet and cooked me a meal.  With a southern accent.

So locally there is a chain (all 2 stores) that got some notice by In-N-Out of all places? Seems they had issue with how the store layout and colors were close to theirs but also the name. Doll-N-Burger It’s actually my favorite fast food around not just because they serve a good smash burger but because they also have poutine and Detroit style Coney Dogs!

I do think we have to differentiate here though...

Straight up fast food burgers (McDonald's, BK, anyplace that has a drive up window)

Go in, sit down burger (Chili's, Red Robin, Texas Roadhouse...any sit down franchise that serves a burger)

Or the mom and pops that have a good burger (Bristol Tap in Bristol, Il and Pete's Burgers in Porter, Tx come to mind)...

Went to the Bristol Tap a couple of times and it was good. Then kind of forgot about it. It was a bit off the beaten path.

They renamed it, and now have a bar in Yorkville too...

Mike and Denise's

Hope they didn't change the burger 🙂

They didn't. We've eaten there several times over the years and still really good on point burgers. Wife's sister and her family left Illinois for Arizona 2 years ago so we haven't been back but would recommend to anyone way out in the Western/SW Burbs to give it a try.

Good to hear!

Back in the day, they only accepted cash, only had Hamm's on tap, you munched on popcorn while they cooked your burger, and no kids allowed...

I lived in Montgomery, about 2 miles from the Bristol location... always took visitors there, and they always loved it...

I think Buona Beefs Italian is also better than Portillos

My middle daughter (Naperville) liked it better too...

I was never a big Portillos guy, UNLESS they had a Barnelli's inside with it (like the one on 59 in Naperville) and I could get Peasant Pasta 🙂
