Dallas James

Interesting pick up. He's got size but his stats suggest he's bringing little to the team. Practice body with size is all I see at this point. He's not getting on the floor beyond mop up time, if that. Makes me wonder what's in it for him? I can't imagine they threw much NIL money at him. No playing time barring a wave of injuries, which I wouldn't rule out based on recent history. Seems he could have found a team at a lower level where he could play. Hope I'm wrong and he surprises everyone.

Win for both sides...

James gets a master's from IU, plays against better competition in games and practices, benefits from Woody's success with bigs, and gets to experience what it's like to play at a P6 school that just happens to be one of the Meccas of basketball.

IU gets to even out the practice floor for Ballo, Reneau, and Hatton, ups the team GPA, and adds another solid citizen with experience. And I'm sure Woody and Jerome James see it as beneficial to both sides...

The kid has the thing you can't teach...size...and while I think he's limited athletically, there are plenty of 7 footers playing pro ball in the US and overseas that are just as limited. Maybe some of what Woody teaches bigs takes ahold...

I don't see him as a rotation piece, but more a nice to have if we have foul trouble or injury issues on the front line...

Welcome to IU Dallas...

I like this pick up. Smart, experienced kid with size that will help in practice. While Woody never coached Jerome James, I have to think his NBA connections played a major factor here and I think that can only help us down the road.
