Indiana - Gonzaga pre game thread

Mark Few had a blunder at the end of regulation vs West Virginia that may have cost them the game. Not sure if anyone saw that. He had pulled out Ryan Nembhard for extra size for a possible free throw miss when WVA was shooting for the tie, but since WVA made the second free throw, he could not sub Nembhard back into the game for their final offensive push because no time ran off the clock.

I think we as real fans need to chill and chill some more…so much so that we forget there is a basketball team. Then these entitled misfits can learn what it means to have a rabid, engaged, knowledgeable fanbase evolve into indifference….watch what you wish for

I figured it out....

Woody setup the bad loss to get us the game vs Gonzaga to help our strength of schedule. He is working on our Net rating.

This makes more sense.  I mean a guy with all that knowledge is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

All right.  Serious thoughts on today - I really could see us coming out motivated and we have enough talent to play with these guys.  I wouldn't be absolutely shocked to see a win.  That said, if we lose and look horrible doing it again, I think it really says a lot.  I'm talking if the effort is crappy down the stretch again.  I will say if we're in a situation like yesterday, I really hope he'll just sit the starters earlier and make some kind of point.  The dangerous thing for him there is that if he completely loses these highly paid mercenaries this early, it will be really ugly.  Same with not starting them today.  While I agree with Scott that the old school way would be to not start them, kids like this today could very well be lost for the season mentally and effort wise because they are not taught to fight through adversity, but to run away from it.  As a girls coach, I learned early how important it was to push the right buttons psychologically and how detrimental it could be if you push the wrong button.  Woodson and staff have got to have the right speech to challenge these guys and not get them to quit on them.  That is easier said than done and I have no confidence he is capable of that.  I'm still excited to watch today for whatever reason.  Happy Thanksgiving All!

I don’t think today will be as bad as yesterday - mainly because it’s hard for any team to dominate a game as thoroughly as Louisville did. At the same time I’d be surprised if we keep this within single digits. It’s pretty sad where my realistic hope for these big time games is to just not get embarrassed.

I would like to see a little pride and fight. I would to come out and smack Gonzaga in the mouth early with a 10-0 run. Then again….. I could see IU being down 10 at the 16 minute timeout. This game could be won but Rice has to outduel Nembhard and Carlyle needs to have an all conference level game.
